Subaru Legacy 1998 Power Train Manual TransmissionSubaru Legacy 1998 Power Train Manual Transmission Review #700246 SUBARU LEGACY 1998 car safety problem was reported on May 01, 1998.SUBARU LEGACY 1998, manufactured by Subaru of America, Inc. had a problem with POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION . car out of alignment, car pulls to the right even when in alignment. ride is very rough like something is out of kilter; the transmission doesn't operate smoothly between 2nd and 3rd gear... like hesitation, and acts like there could be something wrong with the gas lines or parts controlling the fuel to car; cup holder is designed so that everything wants to tip out!! it is not deep enough which could be a definite safety hazzard if something hot tips out onto passenger. i previously owned a 1993 subaru legacy wagon that also pulled to the right!! and the transmission (standard) was sooooo poorly geared in 1st and snd that it ate tires continually, would not move on snowy or inclined surfaces, and posed a major safety hazzard in wet or snowy conditions,,, this was a standard, non-awd model... and the transmission went out on this vehicle at 93,000 miles and subaru woudl not take responsibility for any of these problems!!! that vehicle was clearly defective as this one is,,, and none of the corrections they (the dealership) has made have corrected or held so far! as for the gearing .. they say it is the nature of the beast!! as is the pulling,,, i think i have another subaru lemon,,, and i do not want to have the same problems or worse that i had before!!!.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):4S3BK6750W6. Subaru Legacy 1998 Engine And Engine Cooling Engine GasolineSubaru Legacy 1998 Engine And Engine Cooling Engine Gasoline Review #709191 SUBARU LEGACY 1998 car safety problem was reported on July 25, 1999.SUBARU LEGACY 1998, manufactured by Subaru of America, Inc. had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE . the car developed a leak at the oil filter (lee maxi filter) where it meets the engine. the leak started small and grew steadily larger (10 extra quarts of oil were needed to go the last 50 miles). this occurred toward the end of my trip, after traveling about 140 miles. i know that there had been a recall previously on the subaru brand filter (1998) for this very same problem at the end of last year, but i had this problem with a lee brand filter, which i had but on 2100 miles earlier. up until this time, no loss of oil had occurred with this filter or with previous oil changes (i had just checked the oil level a few days earlier). i believe that there may be a larger problem here, other than the subaru brand filter from the recall. you should also know that there is an auto question and answer area in the friday july 23 issue of the newspaper "newsday" (long island, ny www.newsday.com). the very first question is from an owner of a 1998 subaru legacy who had an oil leak attributed to the filter, and had to have his car towed to the dealer. he mentioned that the dealer required him to pay for the towing and repair, as the oil filter that failed was not a subaru oil filter. since this is another incident involving a non subaru filter failure. this may indicate that other brand filters are experiencing the same problem, and that there may be a problem with the car itself, and not the filter. the car is currently parked, waiting for me to get off of work to put on a new filter (fram brand). i did notice that the rubber gasket on the fram filter is much taller than the lee brand filter gasket. i don't know if this has any relationship to the problem. can you advise me if you have received any additional complaints of this type from people who either experienced this problem with a subaru filter not covered by the recall or with a lee maxi filter or other non subaru filter. thank you for your help. I test drove a 2011 Subaru Outback yesterday at night in a very dark area with the headlights on. I could only see out of the bottom third of the windshield. The top two thirds of the windshield looked as if a black curtain had dropped down over i I notice if I quickly accelerate/go into overdrive - front of car will hum. Do I need to have something checked out? 2004 forester xt, strong gas smell in the cold weather when the heat is on. They won't fix it because they "can't find it" at my dealership. Do I need a new fuel line or is there an easier fix? Thank you for these, can find a decent review now. My 1998 subaru forester stutters/hiccups/bucks (whatever you call it) when going uphill, and when accelerating on a straight path, can it be the transmission? I HAVE A SUBARU FORESTER 2000 TAIL LIGHT/PLATE LIGHT/'FRONT SIGNAL LIGHT STAYS ON.ONCE FUSE IS REMOVED LIGHT GOES OUT.WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE? I own a 2008 Subaru impreza, till last week i was fine, but now it is having some problem i.e it is making whining sound from steering pump, will i have to replace the steering pump and hoe much will it cost. Standard on all Impreza models are anti lock disc brakes, stability control, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints to help mitigate crash-induced whiplash 2006 Subaru outback died. Will not tke a boost. With battery cable connected there is an error code in the odometer. Does anybody know what this can be? 2007 Forester bangs into gear-been doing this mainly in cold weather but now all the time. Dealer always says not problem-it has to "warm up" and doesnt want ot deal with it. My 2002 Impreza Outback Sport's check engine light comes on when I'm going downhill, not all the time. Also (not all the time), if I don't downshift when coming to a stop, the car dies, not stalls, dies. It starts right back up. The engine l i just wrecked my 04 wrx front impact and no air bag and seat belt locked after the impact...how do i contact some one to have this investigated?
