I test drove a 2011 Subaru Outback yesterday at night in a very dark area with the headlights on. I could only see out of the bottom third of the windshield. The top two thirds of the windshield looked as if a black curtain had dropped down over it. When I put on the brights the vision was excellent. However, the road has cars coming towards you so one could not drive consistently with the brights on. The road also has deer that regularly cross it. With the low beams one cannot see sufficiently down the road to see obstacles early enough to be sure to avoid them. I have never seen this before on a car. The dealer says this is how the high intensity headlights are set up and there is nothing that can be done about it. Needless to say we will not be buying this car. It is a shame because we really like the car other wise.
