Audi A4 2005 Power TrainAudi A4 2005 Power Train Review #10127777 AUDI A4 2005 car safety problem was reported on July 01, 2005.AUDI A4 2005, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . the vehicle hesitates for 2 to 3 seconds when trying to accelerate from a complete stop. from june 23rd, 2005, when i took delivery of the car, until july 1,2005, i have almost been t-boned while trying to make a left hand turn, 3 times. the car is dangerous!! i took it in to the dealer on july the 1st. they told me then that that is the way the car is designed to operate. i then contacted audi customer relations, and was told the same thing by them. they are not willing to do anything about this problem and i beleive they hope it will go away. i have no way of checking, but i will guess that this is a chronic problems and has caused many accidents..Mileage was 400 miles. Audi A4 2005 Steering Review #10171280 AUDI A4 2005 car safety problem was reported on Oct 10, 2006.AUDI A4 2005, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with STEERING . my audi since new has drifted to the right, regardless of the road conditions. mc kenna audi has attempted to align the car several times. mr. ford (audi rep) authorized mc kenna to change the camber on the vehicle to it can drive straight. this caused my tire to wear out at an alarming rate. this quick fix was apparently to keep me from going back. i changed the tires and had the car re aligned to manufactures specifications. the car dangerously drifts to the right if i don't counter steer to the left. mc kenna audi stated they can no longer do anything for the vehicle. the vehicle is still under warranty and they will not fix it. i paid $250.00 for the alignment and it was money lost. mc kenna will not refund or fix the warrantied car anymore. they advised me to contact audi of america for further assistance. audi has not responded. *nm.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 4000 miles. Audi A4 2005 TiresAudi A4 2005 Tires Review #10279698 AUDI A4 2005 car safety problem was reported on July 31, 2009.AUDI A4 2005, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with TIRES . i bought 4 bf goodrich traction t/a's from big o tires in san ramon, ca for my 2005 audi a4 2.0t, and within a year (12,000 miles) the front two were showing cracks in the sidewall, one of which into the cords. that tire got replaced immediately. the assistant manager at big o, james, told me "it happens all the time", and "probably from rubbing against curbs". he thought the one that just had surface cracking around and no damage to the cords was okay to not replace "should be fine". one and a half months and one freeway blowout later, it's obvious the tires were all bad for some reason. the back two: one now showing same sidewall cracks and the other one blew out. front one not replaced is more pronounced. the blowout had the tread fully separated from the sidewall. james, when i came back to find out what could be done about these clearly defective tires, spent most of his time trying to refute there was a problem and even tried to argue that they were the wrong tire for the car (a stupid argument for multiple reasons, including that they sold them to me and that their website still recommends it for my car....he calls to their "tech center" to prove his point, only to find out he was wrong...what a waste of time). needless to say there was no mention or concern about my family's safety; a business that should make customer safety the #1 priority should at least say something like "was everyone okay", or "i'm sorry to hear you had something so bad happen". instead it was just james trying to find ways of brushing it off, just like he did a month and a half earlier, when a frightening freeway blowout could have been avoided perhaps if someone who both knew tires and cared about a customers safety had checked them out instead of these dangerous crooks. these tires were clearly defective, and i hope the nhtsa can help determine if this was a one-time event, or if there is an ongoing safety issue with these tires. thank you. *tr .1 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 73000 miles. Audi A4 2005 Power TrainAudi A4 2005 Power Train Review #10352190 AUDI A4 2005 car safety problem was reported on Aug 02, 2010.AUDI A4 2005, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . audi a4 a6 issues with the transmission control module (tcm). my 2005 a4 car had approx 45,000 miles when the check engine light came on. i was taking the car in for am oil change so i had them check the issue with the engine light. i was told that it was the tcm and the car was registering faulty safety codes. i was informed that if i did not get it fixed the car could shut off while driving or the transmission could burn up while driving. i asked way there had not been a recall as it was a safety issue if the car could shut down while driving causing severe injury or even death. the university audi service repr (jordan) stated it was up to audi hq to make such a call. i asked if he had seen other issues. he stated yes that is why audi came up with an updated part. i stated well if there was an updated part that means the old part was no good and a recall should have been issue. i called audi hq and was informed that they track the frequency of part replace and determine a recall based on that. i replied what about safety and the death or injury of your customers. why would you not evaluate an issue for recall based on safety? she indicated audi values its customers, but relies on dealers to report issues. sounds like everyone is in denial of who is responsible and accountable for the safety and lives of audi car owners. then, i was told the amount of more than $1800 dollars. i saw several complaints online about the tcm and cost of more than $2500. now i know why they did not want to issue the recall, but instead update a part and charge its customers versus taking responsibility for the safety issue. i paid for the repairs, as it is my only source of transportation. i did not want to continue driving the car without the repairs as the dealer clearly stated there were safety concerns. is this another hidden toyota situation where the dealer is more concerned about profits over safety? *tr .Mileage was 45500 miles. Audi A4 2005 Exterior Lighting Review #10373401 AUDI A4 2005 car safety problem was reported on Dec 29, 2010.AUDI A4 2005, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with EXTERIOR LIGHTING . over the course of nearly two years of ownership, the right and left headlights have malfunctioned (turned off), with no consistent cause apparent. the specific error message that appears in the driver information screen is "right/left headlight dipped". this condition is both unsafe, and illegal - as many states will issue a traffic violation for driving with a non-functioning headlight. it has happened about 7-8 times, the headlight flickers, then goes out, but will come back on when the car is restarted, then be fine for weeks or months at a time. the dealership has been notified of the problem on at least 3 visits, and has claimed that everything is fine and they can not reproduce said error. they have suggested/guessed that it is the xenon light bulb itself, however it has checked out fine each time, and as mentioned, has functioned flawlessly after each occurrence with merely a restart of the vehicle. no parts have been repaired or replaced, however they have claimed to perform a visual inspection of the electrical connections on at least one visit. given the availability of information online and by word of mouth from other fellow audi owners, this problem is not limited to just my case. i would like audi to step up and address this issue not only for their own pr, but for their customers' safety. *tr.Mileage was 65000 miles. Audi A4 2005 Exterior LightingAudi A4 2005 Exterior Lighting Review #10375526 AUDI A4 2005 car safety problem was reported on Jan 10, 2011.AUDI A4 2005, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with EXTERIOR LIGHTING . my 2005.5 audi a4 quattro frequently experiences hid headlight problems, typically starting with a rapidly flickering headlight and then followed by the headlight(s) extinguishing. when this happens, there is a right or left dipped bulb failure indicated on the dashboard. the headlights can be restored by cycling power. this problem is occurring more frequently; currently it occurs at least every 30 minutes and seems to be triggered when braking the car to a stop, gently accelerating in lower gears, or when turning while climbing or descending steep hills. when this condition is experienced, the headlights flicker rapidly and eventually extinguish. restoring the affected headlight requires me to either pull off the road and cycle power or to manually turn the lights off and on while driving. this is unsafe, probably illegal, and very annoying to the driver and others in traffic. i had this condition repaired previously under warranty (40k miles), but it has recently returned and worsened. my audi now has 92k miles and is out of warranty. i am surprised that audi has not offered a cost-free recall action to fix this safety problem, particularly given its prevalence in audi a4's. the cost to repair this obvious design defect is high and apparently could involve replacement of the hid bulbs, igniters, and sensors. *tr.Mileage was 92000 miles. Audi A4 2005 Engine And Engine CoolingAudi A4 2005 Engine And Engine Cooling Review #10428250 AUDI A4 2005 car safety problem was reported on Sept 26, 2011.AUDI A4 2005, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING . the timing chain (not the timing belt, which had been changed well before the recommended time) broke. this caused the engine to seize immediate resulting in the car coming to a rapid and abrupt stop. fortunately for me, it occurred at low speed on a very quiet street. had it occurred on a freeway, serious injury or death likely would have resulted since the car decelerated so quickly i would not have had time to coast into the breakdown lane. apparently failures of these timing chains occur commonly; audi apparently has an extended warranty program for some cam follower wear problems (that may or may not involve a timing chain failure). but they do not list the chain or the follower as maintenance or inspection items, and give owners no hint that they should inspect the follower, or replace the chain periodically. timing chain failures on zero clearance engines (vw has the same engine and apparently the same problem), will kill folks if they occur on freeways or other roads where an inability to coast to a safe stopping point will leave motorists at incredible risk. *tr.Mileage was 100412 miles. Audi A4 2005 Exterior Lighting Review #10445745 AUDI A4 2005 car safety problem was reported on June 15, 2011.AUDI A4 2005, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with EXTERIOR LIGHTING . my audi a4 currently has an issue with the headlights going out. when i turn it on, one of the headlights will start flickering and then dip, getting a warning light on the dash that specifies the headlight has dipped. this has happened on both the left and right headlight. the problem is intermittent and tends to happen early after driving, usually when roads are uneven or going over speed bumps. i have taken it to the dealer who said they could not replicate the problem and advised replacing the bulbs at the cost of over $700. they did not gaurantee it would fix the problem. i was able to replicate the problem as soon as i drove off the lot. apparently other drivers have complained about this issue. this is an extreme safety and hazard issue as it occurs while i am driving. if you turn off the headlights and turn it back on, they will sometimes stay on but more often will flicker and then go off again. i believe this is a manufacturing issue vs. wear and tear and would like audi to permanently fix the issue at their expense. *tt.Mileage was 67000 miles. Audi A4 2005 Exterior LightingAudi A4 2005 Exterior Lighting Review #10667797 AUDI A4 2005 car safety problem was reported on Nov 01, 2007.AUDI A4 2005, manufactured by Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. had a problem with EXTERIOR LIGHTING . when driving down the city street or highway, i would get the "dipped light" warning on my display, the headlights would flicker and then shut off. i have had this checked at teh service dept and no faults were found on more than one occasion initially. then, the headlight bulb was replaced at one point as advised by the service dept of the dealership. however, it did not solve the problem. i noticed that it occurs more frequentyly in cold weather. the only way to temporarily resolve it during driving is to pull over, turn lights off and turn back on. sometimes they would dip again after driving for a short distance and i would have to pull over again. i complained to aoa customer service in early 2013. i was told that unfortunately the vehicle was out of warranty and that i would receive a "courtesy partial reimbursement" of the cost of headlight bulb replacement. t i have not yet seen the check to date. the problem began within the first few years after purchase of the new vehicle and continue/repeats every winter for the last 7-8 years. i found many owners having the same problem in many online forums including this nhtsa database but it is disappointing that no recalls have been made thus far. this is a huge safety issue since the headlight would suddenly go off while driving..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 9900 miles. my left headlight turns off after a while on my 2000 audi tt i have a 2002 audi a4 quattro 1.8t i bought the car 4 months ago and out of 25 years of my driving cars,trucks,vans i have never experienced such a sad waste of time in engineering this car is worse than the mercedes e500 wich was another garbage audi year2000,2600cc gasoline leak from ventilation under front wheel.after engine running and stop engine a blown bulp...it is a 1.5w bulp Audi Q7- Driving on highway at 70mph, going down hill and not using the gas pedal, as I was going up the hill, I put my foot on the gas and the car stalled. This happened twice on an 10 hour road trip. Can you explain the problem please. I`ve just purchased a 2007 audi a4 cabriolet fsi sline from audi and noticed only  one reverse light is working is this correct or should there be 2 i did try to change it but there doesn`t even seem to be a space for a bulb.
