NISSAN ARMADA 2006 car safety problem was reported on Sept 12, 2008.NISSAN ARMADA 2006, manufactured by NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . sometime in mid august 2008, my wife and daughter were out running errands in our 2006 armada. she came home and told me about the "brake" light coming on, severe front end "shuddering" as she applied the brakes and difficulty stopping. i went out to the vehicle, turned it on, the brake light was not on. i drove the vehicle around for about 20 minutes with no problems. i did slow even stops, hard "emergency type" stops, braking around corners. not a single problem. i checked the brake fluid, it was slightly above the minimum line, so i topped it off with the prescribed brake fluid. the car operated just fine until sept 12, 2008 at approx. 4:50 pm when at 40 mph i approached a two way stop sign, applied the brakes, and nothing happened, i frantically pumped the brakes, until the wall in front of me was close and i instinctively put my hands in front of my face. the vehicle hit the curb at a 90 degree angle, jumped the curb, crashed through a safety sign, and then crashed through a 18-24" sewer line that had yet to be buried. in fact the armada almost rolled as it was riding on top of a piece of the severed sewer line. i called 911, and then smelled gasoline. hazmat was called because the fuel line was ruptured by the sign going underneath the vehicle. luckily nobody was coming the other way. i was transported via ambulance, diagnosed with a "deep chest contusion" from the seat belts. air bags did not deploy. as of this writing on 10/17/08 nissan of north america is still "reviewing" the results of the independent 3rd party they sent out to test the car. they have told me this review by their engineering and legal departments could take several more weeks. *tr.Vehicle was involved in a crash. 1 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 48000 miles. "for about the last 6 months we have experienced a half dozen times or so an issue with brakes not working properly. the brakes pulsate when pushed as though the abs is kicking in, grinding is felt and heard and braking only barely works. this only seems to occur at lower (non-freeway) speeds and the issue usually corrects itself upon shutting the engine off and restarting. appears our issue is to tsb ntb06-040, but i am not sure at this point. going to try to get it in to the dealership this week and hopefully get this issue fixed. i have researched this issue on the net and it seems to be a common issue (see complaint #s below) with some people having accidents. my wife normally is the driver and carrying my 3 year old twins....what will it take for this issue to have a recall??? NISSAN ARMADA 2006 car safety problem was reported on Oct 14, 2009.NISSAN ARMADA 2006, manufactured by NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. had a problem with UNKNOWN OR OTHER . i was driving one day with my 3 kids in the car and the vdc slip and brake light came on out of no where. i contacted the dealer and i brough the vehicle in to have it checked after paying for them to diagnosis it they said they found nothing wrong with it. the light continued to ccome on several times and each time i would take it in and they would say nothing was wrong. one particular day i was driving with my 3 kids and i went to stop and the brakes began to do a pulsing action and sounded as though they were grinding and the car would not stop. i started to cry and panic because i had all of my kids in the car and had no idea what to do so i put the car in neutral and let the car roll and just pulled away from traffic as much as i could. finally i pulled into a parking lot where i hit the breaks and emergency break to make it stop. i placed the car in park and was terrified to drive after that so i contacted the dealer and asked if i could bring it in immediately. once at the dealer i was told again nothing was wrong and that my brakes were fine and they did not find anything. the same thing happen to me 2 more times and still no one seems to find anything wrong. my brakes have been replaced and each time i press on them i am terrified that the car is not gonna stop. the brakes always feel as though they aren't gonna stop and they have an uneasy feeling when you press them. i cannot claim the car as a lemon because i bought it used with 29,000 miles which is not alot. i feel that there is a defect in the brake system for the nissan armada because my car did not have alot of miles when this started and it is still having issues..Mileage was 45000 miles. NISSAN ARMADA 2006 car safety problem was reported on Aug 11, 2010.NISSAN ARMADA 2006, manufactured by NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM . on august 11 2010 , while i was driving with my 2 kids 6 and 2 yrs old , my 2006 nissan armada caught on fire , my kids and i were able to smell like something was burning, but we were not able to see any smoke or fire anywhere around us, it was about 5 minutes later that my daughter was able to see smoke coming from under the truck ,, she said the smoke went by her window , i looked thru my mirrors but i was not able to see anything , i looked at the temperature gauges on the dashboard everything seemed to be working just fine , so i told my daughter if it was our car burning i supposed there would be an indicator that would tell us that something was wrong with the vehicle ,about 3 minutes later my daughter said she saw smoke again , so my first thought was to stop and check , make sure we were ok , i stopped a soon as i was able to get off the road and parked on a safe place. i stopped about 2 mins later after she told me . i turned the motor off and got out of the truck ,, so i decided to go around and checked everywhere , when i started walking towards the front of the truck , right on front of the hood i could smell like burning very close and very strong smell , and the next thing i see as i knelt down right in front of the truck is the fan on fire . i could not believe what my eyes where looking at, so my first reaction was to go back in he car and get my kids out of the burning truck,right away she started to unbuckle her 2 yr old brother . we started running to get away from the fire , while i was calling 911.after the investigation it was determined that the fire was caused due to a manufacturer defect that the truck had on the cooling fan . that truck had a recall on june 2008 , of which i never had a notice of . until this day im still waiting on any kind of response from nissan.i bought the vehicle brand new so i was hoping that nissan would take any responsibility for it , since they endangered our lives. and i the vehicle was a total loss. *tr.Vehicle was on fire. NISSAN ARMADA 2006 car safety problem was reported on Oct 20, 2011.NISSAN ARMADA 2006, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . my wife has experienced our nissan 06 armada losing braking power. it first started about a year ago and she didn't say anything because she thought it was just a brake issue. have had it to a brake shop on several occasions and have found nothing wrong. it has happened to me twice this week. i then went on a nissan forum and other internet sites to see that hundreds of people have had the same issue with nissan armada brake/abs issues. this is a major concern for us as an owner and should be to anyone reading this post. the brake light comes on while braking and it comes out of now where..i was on a flat surface heading to a red light... the abs kicked in and the braking power went to about 30 %. the brake pedal was only engaged about 1/3 of the distance and grinding started and continue till i came to a stop i had to manually shift down in order to stop at the red light. i set my flashers,turned the ignition off and got out.. didn't see or sense anything out of the ordinary other than i had very little braking power and brakes were grinding..turned the car back on and the lights went off and the brakes worked fine. i know the pads and rotors are good, just had them checked on my state inspection. this is alarming because this is my wife's car and she drivers our kids around in it... something needs to be done to keep this incident from becoming something much worse... i sense it is a sensor issue or something to do with that because it comes out of no where while braking. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 89213 miles. NISSAN ARMADA 2006 car safety problem was reported on Sept 06, 2011.NISSAN ARMADA 2006, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . this experience happened yesterday, september 3, 2013 with my family in traffic. i'm entering this report for the time it first happened when i was driving although it has happened more times for my wife who is the primary driver. in total this has happened over 10 times. one september 6, 2011 i was dropping kids off in school where the teachers control how we approach and allow the kids to get out of the car. i was in the next group to pull forward. as i attempted to brake, there was not any reduction in speed. the brakes made a hollow metal scraping sound but did not stop the car. i ran into the car in front of us since there was way to turn with school kids on both sides of the car. we got out and determined the suv i hit was not damaged and we settled the accident with a lunch since we were friends. my front bumper was scraped cosmetically since the other vehicle had a trailer hitch. after restarting the car, i could not duplicate the problem. i have personally had this experience about 5 times in random speeds up to 40 mph approaching lights. i have always had to find a way to not harm people or crash. i've even driven over curbs into sidewalks avoiding people. my wife has had this experience more than myself. it's an amazing flaw in the vehicle that i've found no answer to online or at the 6 to 8 dealers i've asked. nissan dealers only recommend service, act sympathetic and wait for you to back off the issue. wow, i was amazed this is noted so much in this nhtsa database but not an investigation, recall, etc. this is an amazing problem that i've spoke about with any nissan or infiniti owner i can and they have all had it happen and they have several crash avoidance stories. *jb.Vehicle was involved in a crash. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 53000 miles. NISSAN ARMADA 2006 car safety problem was reported on Aug 08, 2014.NISSAN ARMADA 2006, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . replaced abs pressure sensor after abs warning light was illuminated in 5/'14 and reprogrammed abs control module. originally heard squeaking coming from the front end when brakes were engaged. it sounded like a shock or strut problem to me. i took it to a mechanic and engaged the brakes to duplicate the squeaking. the brake pedal pulsated and i heard a loud, grinding noise as i braked. also, there was very little braking capacity. brake light was lit on the dashboard. turned engine off, and it seemed to reset itself. brakes were working fine after that. i took it to nissan for service, but they couldn't find anything wrong. the squeaking was attributed to aged bushings in the front end and were lubricated. it started to squeak again one day last week. as i was driving, i noticed the brake light come on. i braked and again heard the grinding noise coming from the brakes, the pulsating brake pedal, and decrease in braking. because i was afraid to drive it, i had it towed to nissan and they said there was nothing wrong with it and to not worry. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 190000 miles. NISSAN ARMADA 2006 car safety problem was reported on Oct 04, 2013.NISSAN ARMADA 2006, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . this issue occurred as we were stopping at an intersection. the brakes seemed to lose power and there was a springy, metallic noise emanating from the front of the car. it almost felt like there was slipping going on or that the discs came off track. we drove back to a house where we had been staying and the front tires were removed to ensure all was intact. everything was fine and we drove 110 miles to our home. since then this has happened several times. i finally realized that it must be an electrical problem because it would reset after turning off the vehicle. this last time it arose on a long drive into the city. it was 9/22/2014 and after a long drive into the city i parked in a shopping center. when i restarted the vehicle and reversed i noticed the brakes were malfunctioning again. i pulled over and turned off and turned on the car several times. it did not reset. i had an appointment so i drove another five street miles in a gingerly fashion. if i had adequate time to stop at a safe speed i could drive the car but it was harrowing. when i arrived at my destination i realized that the brake light was on in my console. i decided to let the car rest for five or six hours while i was at my outing. when i returned later that day the brakes operated fine. it worked okay on my 110 mile drive back home. this has happened at least 5-6 times in the last two years that i have owned the car after buying from a private party. i have had the brakes inspected religiously and a cause has never been found. a friend suggested i should search online for this issue and here i am. something needs to be corrected. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 93925 miles.
