FORD F-350 SD 2008 car safety problem was reported on Jan 29, 2008.FORD F-350 SD 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . i was notified by ford that my 2008 f-350 6.4 diesel pickup had two recall notices to be performed. on 1.29.08 i took the truck to capistrano ford and they performed recall 08b06 and recall 08b07. since then the automatic transmission has not performed the same. i pull a fifth wheel trailer. the dry weight of the trailer is about 9000lbs. when going downhill the automatic transmission no longer downshifts to assist in braking and downhill speed control. the transmission is equipped with a tow/ haul setting on the end of the shift lever. before the recall this feature worked great. as you start down a hill, taking your foot off the gas the truck will coast and then begin to pick up speed. when the transmission sensed the increase in speed while coasting, the transmission would automatically downshift. it would do this at any speed. after the recall, the transmission will not downshift until long after it has any affect on braking or speed control. while braking, sometimes hard if it is a steep hill, the transmission will downshift and the truck will shutter. it is a short burst that is very noticeable and obviously not normal.the shutter never happened before the recall. i have taken in back to ford twice and they say that the transmission control module (tcm) was reprogrammed as part of recall 08b07 but they can not change it back to the original program. in short, ford will not do anything about this. the operational safety of the vehicle, while towing loads that the truck is designed to tow, has been compromised. ford says they can not do anything about it. is anyone else having this problem? according to ford this complaint has not been made. if i'm the only one having the problem, then ford should fix my truck. *tr .Mileage was 19499 miles. FORD F-350 SD 2008 car safety problem was reported on July 08, 2009.FORD F-350 SD 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with TIRES . 1. on july 8th 2009 while returning home from texas at the posted speed we experienced a vibration. i checked the instrument panel for any problems such as the low tire indicator light. seconds after the right side rear tire exploded and pulled the truck violently to the right as i fought to control the truck and bring it to a stop. the tread had separated from the tire and caused extensive damage to right quarter panel as well as the exhaust. we returned the truck to the dealer and they repaired the damage and replaced the continental tire. i expressed my concern of the remaining tires and they told me that it was an isolated incident and shouldn't have any more problems. the truck and original equipment tires only had 12k miles. 2. on 2/12/10 while driving to cal. again @ posted speed and no low tire indicator light on. the same conditions as above only towing a fifth wheel trailer. we experienced a vibration and with in seconds the left rear tire exploded and again the tread separated from the tire and caused extensive damage to the left quarter panel. we were very fortunate to bring the rig to a stop with out rolling or causing injury or fatality. again i returned the truck to the dealer on 2/14/10 and their it sits to this day 3/17/10 and nothing but excuses. *tr.Mileage was 12000 miles. FORD F-350 SD 2008 car safety problem was reported on Aug 02, 2010.FORD F-350 SD 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL . i have 2008 ford f350 xlt 4x4 srw diesel just over a year and what have happened now is that on 08/02/1010 while i was driving there were noises from the engine also sooo much of white smoke coming out from exhaust pipe and then the truck just failed on the highway and was towed to the closest ford dealer location after a week sitting there service people from dealership said that was oil and fuel spillage all over the filter and the engine etc.. but they didn't do anything to find out what was causing it and i ended up with the bill for it an hour later when i took it the truck it have happened again this time i have taken the truck to another ford dealership after few days they said that was something minor and they gave me the truck when i just left their shop in the evening same problem so much smoke that you couldn't see anything the smoke was choking me so now again the truck is in the dealership service but they now pointing fuel injectors and again they want me to pay for oil and fuel spillage so that they again going to change oil and filter but they not working on fixing the real problem! at this moment i'm afraid to drive this truck because of the fuel spillage i know it can result in a fire and is not safe to drive this truck with so much smoke coming out from exhaust filter.Mileage was 61000 miles. FORD F-350 SD 2008 car safety problem was reported on June 13, 2014.FORD F-350 SD 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with STEERING . on the evening of 6/13/2014, i was driving my 2008 ford f-350 through the drive through line of white castle in commack, new york, 11725. as i went to make a right turn to follow the drive through lane, a heard a metal breaking sound followed by complete loss of steering. within less than 1 second from this happening, my vehicle collided with a cinder block wall causing significant front end damage to the bumper, fender and headlight. there were no injuries to myself or any passengers as well as the wall had minimal damage. i had a police report filed with the suffolk county police department. the report corroborates my statement of complete steering loss as the direct result of the accident. the vehicle was towed to my mechanic, north shore firestone in commack. upon investigation they determined the gears inside of the steering box completely failed. they could be of further assistance detailing what the internals of the steering box looked like if needed. they also informed me there is a 2 month back log on the replacement for this part. being that there is a replacement backlog, ford must know there is a design flaw. this part needs to be redesigned to stand up to the difficult task of getting white castle! this failure not only caused damage to my truck costing over $5,000, but this will cause my insurance to go up as well. if this causes me to be dropped from my insurance, i will have major problems being that all of my jobs require me to have transportation. please have ford fix this problem so no one else is involved in an accident. i was lucky i was going at a low speed, but the next person may not be as lucky as i was. *tr.Vehicle was involved in a crash. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 102000 miles. FORD F-350 SD 2008 car safety problem was reported on June 30, 2014.FORD F-350 SD 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with WHEELS . i was driving a f-f350 sd crew cab pickup truck with a truck shell top approximately 65 mph when the left rear tire tread began to separate from the tire cord, resulting in the tread thrashing (approximately 6 revolutions) the interior and exterior of the left rear quarter panel causing extreme body damage to the wheel well, bumper, upper truck shell sliding window. this was a very violent explosion when the tread finally separated and flew off the tire cord. i then stopped the vehicle, assessed the problem, retrieved the tire tread which remained intact, also in one piece...! amazingly, the tire cord remained intact, still pressurized and holding air... and i was able to limp home at approximately 30 mph. went to the ford dealership,who were not initially helpful pointing the finger to b.f. goodrich, who i did called and i received a return phone call the next day. i then went to the dealership again, who removed the tire, and preserved the tread and tire, and i was instructed by the b.f. goodrich representative to ship the tire for inspection to their offices. the initial inspection at the ford dealership was found to be inconclusive... as to whether or not the separation was caused by a road hazard, which it was not, and then i was told i would have to ship the tire to them for further investigation, and whether or not they would provide reimbursement for the $3-$4k in body damage to my truck. preparing the tire for shipping to b.f.goodrich and waiting on the status of the remainder of my body damage claim..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 91000 miles. FORD F-350 SD 2008 car safety problem was reported on Sept 30, 2014.FORD F-350 SD 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . exhaust temperature sensor will cause a crash that may end up killing someone. this is what failed on my wife who was pulling a 28' horse trailer with her show horse inside worth over $30,000 dollars. she merged to a one lane road on interstate 68 in maryland heading down hill when the check engine light came one soon to follow with a message of pull over safely. 20 seconds later, the engine shutoff. this caused her to lose power steering on a one lane road going over a bridge down hill pulling a horse trailer with a gross weight of over 10,000 pounds. she had no where to pull over safely when the truck shutdown on her. she had to get out of the truck in order to move the barrels blocking the right lane in order to try and get the truck and trailer out of the open lane. she had to block an exit in order to make room for the other vehicles. the truck went to the ford dealership in cumberland, md where it was diagnosed that it was the exhaust temperature sensor. this is a safety issue on this vehicle. at no time should a vehicle shutdown on someone driving it. believe it a vehicle going into a limp mode but at least you can still drive it so you can get to a safe place. there needs to be an investigation into why this occurs and enforce ford to issue a recall to fix this problem before someone is injured or killed..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 44000 miles. FORD F-350 SD 2008 car safety problem was reported on Sept 30, 2014.FORD F-350 SD 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . i have submitted my request for a recall to be issued on all 2008 ford f350sd for the exhaust temperature sensor failure causing the vehicle to shutdown. looks as though a recall was issued for 2012 ford 6.7l ambulance packages: f-350 engine recall number: 13v535000 recall date: 10/30/2013 problem summary: ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 f-350/450/550 ambulance package vehicles manufactured february 22, 2010, through october 19, 2012 and equipped with a 6.7l diesel engine. due to an exhaust sensor problem, the vehicles may experience loss of power followed by an engine stall. consequence: an unexpected engine stall increases the risk of a crash. additionally, if this were to occur when the ambulance is transporting a patient, there is an increased risk of injury to the patient. corrective action: ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the exhaust gas temperature sensor, free of charge. the recall is expected to begin by the end of november 2013. owners may contact ford motor company customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332. ford's recall campaign number is 13s10. sure if a crash can result in the vehicle shutting down on a 6.7l, it could also occur on a 6.4l 2008 ford f350 super duty that is not an ambulance package. a crash is what almost happen when my wife's vehicle shutdown on her due to the sensor going out heading down hill with no power steering. investigate this and have ford held accountable. i have emailed ford on several occassions and this is their latest response: our records indicate that you contacted the ford crc on 9/30/14, and our customer care representative advised you that we have documented your comments which will be forwarded to the appropriate department for review and consideration. wow "for review and consideration".0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 44000 miles. FORD F-350 SD 2008 car safety problem was reported on Apr 23, 2014.FORD F-350 SD 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . exhaust gas temp sensor issue: driving at highway speed, thank god i wasn't towing my 5th wheel. got the message on the dash "stop safely now" and 10 seconds later the truck shut itself off. this is a serious safety hazard. if i had been towing the trailer on a hill i dread to think what would have happened. towed the vehicle to one ford dealer, they couldn't diagnose even though i found the problem online ( many f350 owners have had the exact same experience) and they told me to pick it up the next day. i did that, and about a half hour down the road it happened again. towed to a different dealership, they replaced one of the 4 exhaust gas temp sensors and after an absurd $500 repair bill for an $89 part i was on my way. ford has obviously known this is a problem as they have changed their part number on these sensors - they did some sort of a redesign requiring a new part number. i now carry a spare sensor with me at all times as well as the correct size wrench to replace it. this should absolutely be a recall issue since it is both a serious safety issue as well as something that many of us have had. a simple online search finds many people with the same story. i did call ford customer service, absolutely no action on their part. the old adage of ford = found on roadside dead or fix or repair daily was definitely true for me. i do have the ford customer care case number somewhere if you need that....0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 41000 miles.
