MERCURY MILAN 2008 car safety problem was reported on Mar 09, 2009.MERCURY MILAN 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with TIRES . i own a 2008 mercury milan which came from the factory with michelin p225/50/r17 v93 m&s radial tires on it. i discovered a bubble in the sidewall of the tire and had to throw the tire away with only 8700 miles on it. i contacted michelin and inquired about these "50" series sidewall configuration tires having this problem as told to me by my tire dealer. they agreed with their dealer that these tires can't take potholes and would bubble on the sidewall and could blowout at highway speeds!! they said they have no control where the car manufacturers sell their cars with these type of tires installed on them. this problem exists on all "50" sidewall configuration tires sold by all tire manufacturers. i live in new jersey, the pothole capitol of the usa! these tires are dangerous, if a bubble appears on the inner sidewall where it can't be seen and replaced, it could blowout at high speed. i have received a courtesy reimbursement of 50% from michelin. i have also been told that i cannot change these tires and have a "55" sidewall configuration tire installed because the factory abs and tire pressure sensors will malfunction!!! i have sent a letter to ford/mercury engineering division to request their help in solving the problem of these sensors malfunctioning upon replacing these "50" sidewall tires with "55"s as of this writing, i have not received a reply. i have been doing business with this tire/repair facility for 40 years and they are fully aware of this problem existing with all manufacturers "50" sidewall configuration, and i trust them. i believe these tires should be offered as an option only in the northeast with a warning about the pothole damage. they were standard equipment on my milan...a 149 mile per hour tire on a 4 cylinder sedan!!!! i want the car manufacturers to do whatever is necessary at their expense to correct the sensor malfunctions if this "50" tire is replaced with one of a higher sidewall. *tr .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 8700 miles. MERCURY MILAN 2008 car safety problem was reported on Oct 11, 2010.MERCURY MILAN 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with SEATS . suddenly, 2 months after purchasing a 2008 mercury milan premier from a lincoln mercury dealership, i noticed a significant amount of rust in the seat brackets and power seat hardware on both the driver and passenger side. the car had 6,900 miles when i bought it as a cpo vehicle. i also bought an extended warranty. i took the car to the dealership on monday october 11, 2010 and they said the rust was normal (i disagree). the rust is now seeping into the carpet as well. yesterday, october 18, 2010, i took the vehicle to an independent certified mechanic for an opinion. he concurs that it is not normal and possibly a safety hazard. the dealership has not returned my phone calls this car is practically new and i refuse to believe that an accelerating amount of rust on my vehicle is safe, attractive or normal. there is also an exhaust noise (confirmed by the dealership) but they said ford will not fix it since it isn't a safety issue. this car is practically brand new. the car belonged to a couple who only drove it in the summer in michigan since they stayed in florida in the winter. it is pristine except for those 2 dangerous problems. i feel they refuse to fix it because it is time consuming and costly. the dealership tried to tell me that taking the seat apart will "weaken" it and "it will never be the same". cars are taken apart every day and people too! that's what doctors and mechanics are for. please help me before the seat separates from the frame and i have an accident. *tr.Mileage was 9100 miles. MERCURY MILAN 2008 car safety problem was reported on July 15, 2014.MERCURY MILAN 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . i was driving on the highway at about 45 mph when engine seemed to gradually lose all power. i steered the car onto the shoulder of the road to get out of traffic and subsequently turned the car off and then re-started it, at which point it seemed to drive okay but at times still felt like it might stall. the check engine light came on, as well as the wrench light and traction warning light. the wrench and traction lights went off eventually but the check engine light continues to be on. a few days after the initial incident i was at a stop sign near my house in the vehicle and when i went to accelerate through from the stop sign there was practically no acceleration. i was able to turn around and drive back to my house but only at a speed of less than 5mph the whole way (approx 1/4 mile). as i had to go up a small hill to get to my house, the car did not have enough power to get all the way up the hill and i had to pull over again and re-start the car, at which point i was able to make it the rest of the way home..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 88500 miles.
