INFINITI I30 2001 car safety problem was reported on June 03, 2003.INFINITI I30 2001, manufactured by NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . when i am in stop-and-go traffic after 30-45 minutes of time the engine idles very fast. i have to keep my foot on the brake very hard to keep vehicle stopped. when i take my foot off the brake the engine rpm reads 1100 (if the problem is not occurring it is usually 750 rpm in idle or when stopped) without putting my foot on the accelerator the cars drives at 30 mph (almost as if it in cruise control mode even though the cruise control is not engaged) when this is occurring and i come to a stop and put the car into neutral or park the engine races to 3000 rpm and seems stuck at that level. i recently serviced the vehicle including throttle box cleaning but the problem persists on an intermittent basis. the dealer tells me that the "computer" does not show a trouble code. they recommend that i bring it in when it is occurring. the problem is not completely predictable and when it does occur it is usually in the 5:00-7:00 pm drive time, the dealer is closed. i have asked then to also look at the throttle sensor which they say they will. i feel that the situation could be very dangerous as there is a sense that i am not in control of the vehicle's speed when this occurs. thank you. *nlm.0 person(s) died.Mileage was 35000 miles. INFINITI I30 2001 car safety problem was reported on Feb 05, 2009.INFINITI I30 2001, manufactured by NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . when cold outside, my 2001 infiniti i30 recently started loosing power brake boost after the brake pedal is depressed two times. an internet search revealed that this is a common problem with various nissan/infiniti models. the problem, which i verified this morning is a check valve in the vacuum line coming from the intake manifold to the brake booster. i started the car, depressed the brake pedal twice to relieve the vacuum reserve in the brake booster and the pedal stiffened up with no vacuum assist. i immediately pulled the vacuum line from the brake booster and there was no vacuum at the booster with the motor running and thus no vacuum assist. after flexing and tapping the line in the check valve area, the checkball released with a click and vacuum was restored. this is a very very serious design flaw that is occurring on many nissan/infiniti car at this very moment, just do an internet search on "nissan brake problem when cold". this problem is particularly dangerous in that it occurs on start-up after the brake pedal is depressed several times(the vacuum reserve is depleted). this condition is likely to occur after moving into traffic. although the braking system continues to work without assist, the force required to overcome the no vacuum assist is more than many female, older or teenage drivers can apply. the condition feels like there are no brakes even though the pedal does not go to the floor. something needs to be done (recall) immediately! i have not replaced the part(rubber vacuum hose with integral check valve) yet, because i know to depress the brakes at startup several times before i move the car. i do have the part and will be more than happy to video tape the failure on the next cold morning(below32 degrees approx) or i will send the hose to you for testing. if i were the only person with this problem, i would consider this disturbing, but not a design problem. i only figured out what the real problem is(checkvalve) on the internet. *tr.Mileage was 140000 miles. INFINITI I30 2001 car safety problem was reported on July 01, 2008.INFINITI I30 2001, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with STRUCTURE . this well maintained 2001 infiniti i30 with 74,000 miles has been driven for approx. 11.5 years by the original owner and spouse in the cincinnati area. the car has been garaged 99% of all evenings during that time and has never been in an accident. approximately 2008 the lower radiator support (front cross frame tie bar) started to rust near the center of this boxed frame member. portions of the top and front side of this frame member rusted through completely some time in 2012. the hood latch mechanism and horn are fastened to a vertical steel support that is bolted to the front of this frame member, just left of the rust perforation. we intend to drive this car for many more years as we have in the past with several other cars if this does not become a safety problem, if it hasn't already. my guess is we will need to have the front frame tie bar repaired if possible to avoid future hazardous conditions (ie. hood popping open while driving and/or unstable front end control). this rust perforation more than likely lessens the structural integrity of the car in a front end collision. i have never in my 35+ years of car ownership encounter such a manufacturing defect. this appears to be a widely known safety problem on various nissan autos. even if nissan is not required to recall these autos for inspection and repair, they should at least notify owners of the potential safety issues and possible mechanical fixes that should be considered by the owner. thanks in advance for your assistance with this matter..Mileage was 50000 miles.
