NISSAN ROGUE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Sept 30, 2012.NISSAN ROGUE 2009, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with POWER TRAIN . a few months prior to my transmission fully breaking down, i was experiencing episodes where my rogue would lose acceleration even as the accelerator pedal was pressed as far down as it could. mainly these episodes would occur after stopping at a stop sign or traffic light. i would begin to press the accelerator; however, the vehicle would not accelerator nor would the rpm's increase. suddenly, the "engine" would kick in and i was quickly and forcefully propelled forward. there were a few episodes that occurred while driving on the interstate and these episodes were more frightening and they placed me in a very unsafe situation of being rear-ended at high speeds. then on september 30, 2012, my family was leaving a vacation trip and heading home on our 3+ hour drive. not 2 minutes on the road did we experience very loud grinding, clunking and odd behavior from our vehicle as it attempted to shift gears. this noise/feeling seemed to minimize as we drove over 40 mph until it suddenly lost all power. we had to attempt to pull over to the side of the road with our hazards on, and thank goodness no one was driving behind us or i am afraid we would have been in a serious accident on a northern wisconsin highway. since this occurred on a sunday at 7:00 am, we did not have any possibility to take it to a nissan dealer or to rent a vehicle to get home. we were forced to contact a family member who graciously had a trailer and drove the 3+ hours to get us and then turn around and tow us the 3+ hours home. after inspection on the vehicle at the local nissan dealership, we were informed of the issues and extended warranty with the cvt transmission. i am still fearful of what could have happened to my family. it appears that many people experiencing this issue have had their transmission replaced 2-3 times. i fully support a cvt recall!!!! *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 117000 miles. NISSAN ROGUE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Mar 28, 2013.NISSAN ROGUE 2009, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with POWER TRAIN . a high-pitched whirring sound manifested itself while driving on the highway, followed by a grinding sound, all coming from under the vehicle towards the rear end. the next day i took it to a local mechanic, who took it on a test drive. he also had another mechanic do the same. both diagnosed it as a transfer case failure. i then took it to my local nissan dealer. after the tech drove it and inspected the rear end, it was diagnosed as a rear differential that had failed. the car only has 74,300 miles on it and is not used for towing or any other similarly-demanding activities. at the 50,000 mile mark there was a transmission leak that another nissan dealer had to fix under warranty, but only after i contacted nissan usa consumer affairs. there seems to be no end to the issues with this make and model concerning the cvt transmission and related power-train components. it is past time for the government to look into the high rate of failures with these models. there is obviously a reason nissan had to make a special extension on the power train, doubling the length and mileage limit. unfortunately, the dealership tells me that the rear differential is not part of the power train and i must pay $2, 121 out of pocket for the necessary repairs. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 74300 miles. NISSAN ROGUE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Mar 28, 2012.NISSAN ROGUE 2009, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with POWER TRAIN . i was driving on i-25, my car set on cruise control at 75 mph when suddenly the speed dropped to 45 mph in a matter of seconds - without warning. i pushed the gas pedal down to the floor but it didn't do anything. there was also a whining sound like the car was working extra hard. i immediately pulled off the highway; fortunately, there were no cars behind me. i was confused and didn't know what happened so i sat there a few minutes thinking the car overheated. i thought i would give it a chance to cool down. after about 10 minutes, i put my emergency lights on and got back on the road. i kept the emergency lights on and drove slower to see if it would happen again. it seemed to be okay as long as we didn't have to go up hill and i kept my speed down, i tested it along the way. upon taking it in to nissan for inspection, they thought the problem was due to too much transmission fluid, put in at the factory, so they removed some. after a couple months i got back on the highway and it happened again. this time nissan replaced the transmission. i don't feel safer, as i understand this cvt problem occurs in mountainous areas, such as colo. i have also read blogs from people with 08 & 09 rogues that had the transmission replaced and it went out again, not always right away. driving at high speeds then quickly losing speed with no indication (brake lights) to the drivers behind is without question a potentially deadly situation. i still fear it will happen again. i won't drive my rogue in mountainous areas and stay away from highways as much as possible. i purchased this rogue with the expectations it would take me where i need to go safely. i have asked nissan to switch vehicles with me - asking for a model that doesn't have safety issues. they refused. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 55000 miles. NISSAN ROGUE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Mar 28, 2014.NISSAN ROGUE 2009, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with AIR BAGS . we were attempting to remove the propeller shaft to the rear wheels as the universal joints had worn out and the propeller shaft needed to be replaced. the vehicle was up in the air on a hoist.the ignition was in the off position, front & rear bolts to propeller shaft were removed, one of the two bolts for the mid-ship mount was out. our technician then heard what sounded like a firecracker go off. what we found was that the side air bags had deployed! we then accessed the fault codes in the srs system and found the following. b1211 rollover detection, b1081 & b1086 pretensioner rt ft & lt ft (open),b1145 & b1150 curtain module (open), b1177 ft rt seat belt pretensioner, & b1018 occupant sensor (unit fail). when we checked with the nissan dealer in kalamazoo, they sent us a tsb, dated 01/27/2014 # ntb08-055c which addresses problems nissan is having with all vehicles!! we have found numerous instances of this happening to owners of nissan's. we were using no power tools on the vehicle when this happened. i feel that these bags are deploying on people and causing accidents not the other way around. these vehicles need to be recalled. we have saved the parts that were replaced to get the vehicle repaired, for your inspection. there are many complaints from nissan owners, on line, that the side air curtains have deployed, at stop lights, when shutting doors, driving out driveways etc. thank you in advance for looking into this matter. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 148494 miles. NISSAN ROGUE 2009 car safety problem was reported on July 13, 2013.NISSAN ROGUE 2009, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with AIR BAGS . i am writing to alert the nhtsa to a possible defect in nissan's airbag control system for this vehicle and to register my dissatisfaction with how nissan north america responded to my request for a remedy. i purchased this 2009 nissan rogue awd at auction on 3 july 2013. nissan's leasing arm was the previous owner. i noticed from the outset that the light indicating the status of the passenger side airbag sometimes showed inactive, even when an adult weighing over 50kg was sitting in the front passenger seat. however, the problem was intermittent, and brown's fairfax nissan was not able to replicate the condition when i took the vehicle for a check on 13 july 2013. the problem is occurring more frequently of late, and now the front passenger side airbag occasionally shows that it is active, even when there is nothing on the passenger seat. brown's wanted $128 to "diagnose" the problem but, since it remained intermittent, was not sure anything would come of the diagnostic procedure. at about this time, i received a recall notice for an ecm problem (by the way, the vehicle initially failed emissions inspection in july of 2013 when i took it to my regular service station, but brown's was able to get a "pass" reading). i asked nissan north america to authorize brown's to conduct a diagnosis of the passenger-side airbag problem at the time of the ecm repair. nissan refused. because this problem remains intermittent, i am unsure how to proceed. i do not wish to pay $128 several times for repeated "diagnosis", but clearly something is wrong with the airbag system. i am submitting this complaint in case other instances of this type of problem with nissan vehicles might have been recorded. for now and until the problem becomes consistent, i will not carry front-seat passengers. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 59703 miles. NISSAN ROGUE 2009 car safety problem was reported on May 28, 2012.NISSAN ROGUE 2009, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM . while driving home from wa to ca i noticed while driving up the great vine my 2009 nissan rogue started to decelerate from 70 mph to 45-55 mph, i had my foot pressed pedal to the metal with no acceleration. the vehicle just made it but while at another slight hill my vehicle did the same thing however this time it reduced to speed that posed a safety concern while on a highway. the speed dropped from 70 to about 30 in a matter of seconds. my infant son and wife were in the vehicle as it started to shut down i managed to get out of the highway but not before we had big rigs and other vehicles slow down or change lanes to avoid a collision. my vehicle would no longer move nor would for i had zero acceleration capabilities. please recall this vehicle for it poses a safety concern that may cause a serious injury, lawsuit and even death to an operator, passenger and or others. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 82000 miles.
