Mercury Montego 2005 Visibility Rearview Mirrors/devicesMercury Montego 2005 Visibility Rearview Mirrors/devices Review #10117896 MERCURY MONTEGO 2005 car safety problem was reported on Apr 12, 2005.MERCURY MONTEGO 2005, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with VISIBILITY:REARVIEW MIRRORS/DEVICES . my new mercury montage sedan is equipped with oversized side mirrors-aps 2 higher and 3 longer than the average size on comparable vehicles. this is a serious problem as it blocks out the entire size of a vehicle when going through intersections, narrow streets, alleys, and parking lots. also ,cannot see pedestrians, wheel chairs, etc .,that may be waiting in the gutter. when turning, the larger size mirror reflects cars that are behind you, yet appear to be coming from the side. in evening hours, the larger size reflects the headlights of vehicles, particularly suv's, and is blinding. i commute 400 miles/week, and fear that this is a potential safety hazard that needs to be addressed and corrected. my mercury dealer said nothing can be done. that is irresponsible! sine this form doesn't allow for multiple incidents, i have entered the most recent one. *ak.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):1MEHM42185G. Mercury Montego 2005 Tires SidewallMercury Montego 2005 Tires Sidewall Review #10173339 MERCURY MONTEGO 2005 car safety problem was reported on Aug 29, 2006.MERCURY MONTEGO 2005, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with TIRES:SIDEWALL . i was driving home with my newborn daughter when i heard this awful rumbling from my left rear tire. upon gaining control of the car and getting it safely off the deserted country road into a field, i saw that the tire was completely deflated and barely hanging on the rim. after taking the tire to be repaired, i was told the tire was un-repairable, and the tire had a manufacturer's defect according to my tire man. the tire had bubbled in several places along the inner rim. the flat had come from a small nair hole the repairman said would not have caused it to deflate that fast without a defect being present. i contacted my ford dealer and was told my tire was underinflated. how they know this from a completely flat tire is beyond me. i was not offered any type of assistance in replacing my tires on my mercury montego that was barely 14 months old with around 23k miles on it. these defects are serious, and i wish you would take them as such before someone gets killed. *jb.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 23000 miles. Mercury Montego 2005 Power Train Automatic Transmission Review #10284885 MERCURY MONTEGO 2005 car safety problem was reported on Mar 27, 2009.MERCURY MONTEGO 2005, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . i purchased a new 2005 mercury montego in may 2005. the car now has 85k miles with the 6 speed transmission.the transmission has been fine on short trips (35 miles or less) but anything over that and it starts doing really crazy stuff. it will downshift 3-4 gears at highway speeds...slam into gear... then immediately upshift. this happens so hard that the whole car shakes. one time it was so bad, we felt we had been hit. sometimes it will go to downshift, and just goes to neutral causing major issues when involved with traffic trying to get of the road. this is a major problem which could cause an accident. when shifting from 3-2 at low speeds, it will downshift but shudder the whole car. all these symptoms occur only after trips longer than 35 miles or on a very hot day where the transmission seems to heat up. my local ford garage has tried reprogramming the tcm with no success (first tsb). they now say i need a remanufactured transmission at a cost of nearly $5000. ford will not help in any way even though i firmly believe this is a factory defect. the car has never been abused, been in an accident, and maintenance performed at or sooner than recommended. the shifting into neutral is a safety issue. ford needs to step up and admit they have a problem and replace the trans, it appears as they have fixed the problem because all the tsb's for this symptom (2 that i know of) affects only vehicles manufactured before oct 2005. how can ford or any other company know they have an issue and not take corrective action. i have always been a ford man since the early 1970's. how i have been treated with this defect could be construed as criminal. i guess they figure if they hold out long enough, the vehicles will all die and go away and they wont have any obligations whatsoever. in doing research on this vehicle with the 6 speed trans, there are lots of us in the same situation with the same symptoms and the same reply from ford. *tr.Mileage was 78000 miles. Mercury Montego 2005 Power Train Automatic Transmission Review #10342505 MERCURY MONTEGO 2005 car safety problem was reported on Mar 26, 2010.MERCURY MONTEGO 2005, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . i recently had to replace my transmission replaced in my 2005 mercury montego due to inter problems within - i went on line and there are hundreds of complaints about the same problem with the transmissions in ford and mercury cars. i took my car in and was told there is no recall - i took my car to have it fixed and my mechanic tried to get parts, and a manual to have it fixed but ford would not sell him anything to fix the transmission. before i go further we first took it to the ford dealership to see how muchit would cost they said it would start about 4,000 dollars we could not afford that and took it to a transmission place and it was finally fixed after being in the shop 14 day due to the fact that he could not get parts or anything from the ford parts department. he finally had to get a total different transmission for the car. i contacted ford in dearborn, michigan a few times and only got the response - sorry there is nothing we can do because there is no recalls - i feel like screaming that with a transmission that would make you feel like you are riding a bucking bronco and then it would shift to another grear and then just idle in the middle of the street and you would think great it's going to just stop and someone is going to run into the back of me and worst the side of the car - if that isn't a safety issue i don't know what is - please check into this go online and check the complaints -also, the car only has 61,000 miles on it and that is the complaints from others online. yet ford will do nothing to address the issue or even say there is a major problem. *tr.Mileage was 63715 miles. Mercury Montego 2005 Power TrainMercury Montego 2005 Power Train Review #10463605 MERCURY MONTEGO 2005 car safety problem was reported on Mar 06, 2012.MERCURY MONTEGO 2005, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with POWER TRAIN . the car will shutter, shakes and bangs when the transmission down shifts to a lower gear when for example the car begins to climb a slight grade and needs a lower gear to maintain speed. sometimes, during the same scenario, the car will shift momentarily into what seams to be neutral causing engine rpm to spike from 2,000 rpm up to 6,000 rpm. in either case, it scares you and you think something major is wrong with the car and you immediately search to get off the road and stop. the cars around you abruptly try to avoid your sudden decrease of speed. on the other hand, the car seams to accelerate normally while up shifting to speed although maybe the shifts are getting a bit harder than we were used to. the dealer replaced an engine mount anti-torque bracket for $600.00 that they determined was the problem but it did not help. no diagnostic lights appear on the instrument cluster giving reason for the problem. we basically do not trust the car to travel any where because it is unsafe. i see many others on the web have the same issues with their montego's. we have maintained our car very well during its short life. the dealer and transmission shops are perplexed to the solution of the problem. the dealer says now that maybe it is a "valve body" causing the problem but are not quite sure. $2,400.00 dollars for a "not quite sure" fix is a bit much specially after already sinking $600.00 into the problem. ford, what do you think? time to issue a recall and admit there is a real safety problem here? be fair and help consumers remedy the transmission problems they are having with their 2005 montego's before someone gets killed! *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 56000 miles. mine is doing the same thing\\ but i also dont have vrake lights an its not a fuse nor the brake pad switch. so i need to know did u get an answer to ure problem please!! help me! My 2000 mercury villager overheated , when I pulled over and looked under the hood the radiator hose was blown off. looks like a pressure problem --- is it a thermostat or waterpump . I took the Thermostat of and put it in boiling water and it op My 2003 Mountaineer has a split in the liftgate .I want to know whay cause that and how can it be repaired. I also have a 88 cougar murcery and the head gasket went out but replaced them but it still wants to over heat what do I do wheres the tur signal relay on mercury mistique I have a exhaust type smell coming through the AC vents when the car is sitting at a traffic light.  Any ideas of where to start looking? My 2001 Sable gear shifter gets stuck once in a while. I have to push on breaks and move shifter out of park position for a while until it catches. Then I can drive.
