Mercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 SteeringMercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Steering Review #10306742 MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008 car safety problem was reported on Jan 26, 2010.MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with STEERING . i have a 2008 mercury mariner hybrid 4 wheel drive. on occasion the steering will loose power assist while turning. the loss of power lasts for a few seconds before the power assist returns. this problem is dangerous as i have to compensate for the loss of steering assist by turning the steering wheel harder, then when the power assist returns the vehicle turns more than i want because the wheel is easy to turn as i am applying a lot of pressure to the steering wheel. the dealer and ford has not been able to determine the problem or suggest a fix. *tr.Mileage was 37200 miles. Mercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Electrical SystemMercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Electrical System Review #10330798 MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008 car safety problem was reported on May 17, 2010.MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . on-freeway gas engine/electric motor shut-down. driving in morning rush-hour traffic approximately 15 minutes after cold start in 60-degree weather, both the gasoline engine and the electric motor propulsion systems shut-down together without prior warning while the vehicle was in motion - "stop safely now" was the `too-little-too-late' info on the instrument panel. neither power mode would restart with trans in neutral (i refused to try cycling ignition key to off, and risk steering lock). fortunate to coast onto shoulder, where i had to move gear selector to park, turn ignition key full-off and then back to start, at which time normal operation resumed. total loss of both power sources while in-use on a freeway and unable to re-activate without shifting transmission into park is absolutely inexcusable and unacceptable! *tr.Mileage was 39380 miles. Mercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Service Brakes, ElectricMercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Service Brakes, Electric Review #10340338 MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008 car safety problem was reported on May 20, 2010.MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC . in a hard-braking situation, brakes failed - no discernible deceleration at all, pushing harder than i've ever had to before. this made for rear-ending the guy ahead of me. forensics investigator w/ mech found odb dtcs showed only p0a8d and b1318 - one of which shows a low voltage to abs system. multiple reports of this with escape hybrid owners. i wonder if it is related to the ford fusion hybrid failures? this occurred at 10-15 mph. what happens at 60? local dealership declares "your brakes check out fine and there's no evidence of brake failure." really? how about that radiator and grill that need repair and that quarterpanel sticking out of the right side? evidence enough? i'd like to see this issue root-caused before somebody gets seriously hurt. *tr.Vehicle was involved in a crash. Mercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Service Brakes, HydraulicMercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Service Brakes, Hydraulic Review #10344574 MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008 car safety problem was reported on June 15, 2009.MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . failure of abs brakes on 2008 mercury mariner hybrid. this has happened to my car twice. summer of 2009 and the summer of 2010. both times i have had to replace the master brake cylinder. symptoms include inconsistent braking response and loss of brake fluid. driver experiences overly sharp braking and a "grabbing" sensation as well as very soft braking and "coasting" sensation almost as if there are no brakes or very little braking. it is very hard to drive safely in this condition. both times, repair included replacing the master cylinder with a $1500 bill. this resulted in $3000 in repair costs to avoid continuing to drive the vehicle in an unsafe condition. the master brake cylinder should not have failed once on a 2008 car much less twice and the dealership has as much told me they feel this may be a system design flaw that needs correcting through recall. *tr.Mileage was 42000 miles. Mercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Engine Review #10604407 MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008 car safety problem was reported on June 16, 2014.MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . traveling down the interstate, left lane @ 70 mph. i had 1 vehicle behind me and a semi truck / trailer to the right and one behind him. without warning the engine died and i began coasting in traffic. i hit my flashers and thankfully the vehicle behind me was alert and noticed my instant loss of speed and flashers. they slowed long enough for both big trucks to pass on my right and for me to get over to the shoulder on i-70. quick research turns up possible issues with a mechanical / electrical pump or maybe the throttle body. i called the ford dealership and talked to the service manager who didn't have a clue what would cause the issue and was surprised that i found several postings on the internet where people had the same issue in the same model vehicle. i visited the ford dealership and spoke with the parts department (2 individuals) who couldn't decide which was the correct part number for the mechanical / electrical pump. it is just a matter of time before someone experiences this issue and can't get out of traffic and is involved in a serious or fatal accident as a result. it is a known issue and i also noticed there is a class action lawsuit filing because so many have experienced this same issue. i'd be interested to know what criteria needs to be met before the nhtsa takes action against ford / mercury. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 102100 miles. Mercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Steering Review #10618434 MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008 car safety problem was reported on July 05, 2014.MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with STEERING . i am concerned that the problems with the electric power steering system are not limited to a faulty torque sensor but to the overall power steering system which may create the potential for other steering emergencies. as a result, i am providing the following report should you receive similar complaints from other drivers of ford vehicles about worn parts of the power steering column which affected driving. while stationary in a parking lot, after turning on the ignition a sound like a quick pop occurred. after starting to drive and turning the steering wheel to the right, a knocking sound such as that of a small hammer happened several times. turning the steering wheel to the left produced a rubbing sound and minor resistance. there also was a constant squeaking in the rotation of the left front wheel which existed prior to the above occurrence. these conditions continued to occur. on july 9, 2014 the dealer replaced the 8l8z-38676-e steering shaft joint connector. (i was unaware of recall 14s055 at the time.) on the trip home, the steering wheel constantly squeaked while turning to the left. responding to the electronic power steering recall 14s055 on 2008-2011 ford vehicles and a remedy for the squeaking, returned to the dealer on august 1, 2014. electric steering upgrade performed. squeaking seems to be remedied by replacing sway bars and 1 tie rod. thank you for your attention to this matter..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 48000 miles. Mercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 EngineMercury Mariner Hybrid 2008 Engine Review #10620663 MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008 car safety problem was reported on Aug 06, 2014.MERCURY MARINER HYBRID 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . engine shuts off and display says to pull off road. this has been a on going problem. the dealer replaced the throttle body and it still happens. it is very unsafe to lose your vehicle's acceleration and have the engine turn off. i think it may be a computer code glitch because based on what i was told by the dealer the engine shuts off because a fuel mixture issue detect that may even be a false reading. this automated action within the vehicle brain decision puts many at risk as i found out when i was in the furthest left lane about a mile before the 55 freeway turn off while traveling south on the 91 freeway with the car shut off it's engine. i lost power and needed to pull over while a car behind me was flashing their headlights and the car to my right was slowly passing me up. next came a bigger challenge since there were 2 big rigs on the road and i hit the brakes a little while signalling a lane change with my flashers on i managed to squeeze between the two rigs and almost caused the one behind me to rear end me. the big rig in turn caused the car behind to break and this almost lead to a pile up. that intersection on the freeway where the 55 freeway begins on your left lanes and the 91 freeways continues on the right is a very dangerous place to have to negotiate a pull over. it is compounded with a entry ramp with cars trying to quickly get into the left 2 lanes in order to get onto the 55 freeway. i do not see a reason to have your vehicle turn itself of for any reason other than a fire or a very serious safely issue. based on what i know the computer of my vehicle puts people in danger over a possible issue with the smog pollution being too excessive for the moment. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 96000 miles. mine is doing the same thing\\ but i also dont have vrake lights an its not a fuse nor the brake pad switch. so i need to know did u get an answer to ure problem please!! help me! My 2000 mercury villager overheated , when I pulled over and looked under the hood the radiator hose was blown off. looks like a pressure problem --- is it a thermostat or waterpump . I took the Thermostat of and put it in boiling water and it op My 2003 Mountaineer has a split in the liftgate .I want to know whay cause that and how can it be repaired. I also have a 88 cougar murcery and the head gasket went out but replaced them but it still wants to over heat what do I do wheres the tur signal relay on mercury mistique I have a exhaust type smell coming through the AC vents when the car is sitting at a traffic light. Any ideas of where to start looking? My 2001 Sable gear shifter gets stuck once in a while. I have to push on breaks and move shifter out of park position for a while until it catches. Then I can drive.
