DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on Nov 25, 2011.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with STEERING . 2012 dodge ram with 4.7 litre engine. noticed a ground out vibration type noise at low speeds and at idle in gear at stop light there was a really noticeable vibration in steering wheel. found power steering pump to be loose and under further investigation found that there were no threads in mounting bolt hole at the 9:00 position and the lower bolt at the 6:00 position in the end of the cylinder head. therefore there was only one bolt holding on the power steering pump and it had loosened up and now the pump and line were vibrating. vehicle is being repaired at dealership by replacing the cylinder head. this vehicle should have never left the plant in this condition and definitely should not of left the dealership. this shows very poor quality control at both the plant and dealership new vehicle prep department. i do not believe this could be an isolated incident and further investigation of vehicles with this engine built at this time should be investigated. this truck was delivered to the dealership in mid november not sure of exact build date due to truck not being in my possession right now it is at the dealer for repair. *tr.Mileage was 10 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on July 31, 2012.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . i was driving on hwy 59 in houston for about an hour, i noticed a humming sound coming from below the vehicle. i was exiting 59 onto sam houston toll road, when the humming started and then i heard a loud crash. i immediately looked in the rear view mirror, to see if i had hit something and i saw the drive shaft flying through the air. at the time of the incident i was traveling north on sam houston toll road, just north of 59 at 70 miles an hour, i was able to steer the vehicle out of the way of traffic, but as soon as i was clear of traffic the rear end locked up completely. if the back end had locked up a minute before, i probably would have caused a very serious accident. the exit for the toll road is approx. 100+ feet above the lane below, and with the truck skidding out of control i very easily could have gone over the edge. also, the drive shaft completely separated from the vehicle and went airborne. had the drive shaft hit a car below, or next to me the damage would have been horrific. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 67000 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on Nov 03, 2012.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . started vehicle after i ran errands and got about 500 yards before vehicle displayed serious electrical issues. the electrical issues included the windshield wipers running when the windshield wiper control was set to off, displaying a warning that the driver side seat belt was not latched when the seat belt was latched, displaying a low engine fuel warning when there was over half a tank of gas, displaying a warning for low tire pressure when the tire pressure was okay. prior to this incident the vehicle has on occasion been difficult to start, acting as if it was not getting enough fuel or the battery was low. eventually the vehicle engine would engage after several turns of the ignition switch. this is the second time since purchasing this brand new vehicle that we have had electrical issues. the first time the computer had to be rebooted in the vehicle. this time may require the same thing. when i spoke with the dealers service representative, he stated that it could be possible for the computer to turn off the vehicle when experiencing this type of computer malfunction. he said that it might require the driver to coast to a stop. seems as if this scenario, would pose a serious danger or threat to both the occupants of the vehicle and surrounding vehicles that could result in death or injury. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 12083 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on July 15, 2013.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . i was on vacation in smokes going up a hill. i was behind a slow moving car about 25 to 35 mph. when all the sudden my truck starts slugging. it was like it didn't know what gear to get in. it would go high and start jerking then low. their was a car behind me so finally i just stopped in the road to let the one in front go on. it felt like the transmission was going fall out of the truck. now it does it just going down the road . i can push the peddle 1/4 way down and it does not respond . it shifts in to a higher gear to soon this transmission in these truck need to be recalled before someone get hurt or killed. you never know what they going to do. guess its the cause of the vibration at 60 to higher also. i took it to dealer today and they said its all normal . how can it be normal when it was not doing it when i first got it. guess that is their answer to every problem makes their day easer. we the people of ram owners need help .can anybody help us we pay to much for those trucks for them to ride like that. and for our peace of mind knowing that we are controlling the truck not the transmission . don't wait to have it recalled because it might be you that gets hit by a defaulted truck or even worse your kid that is walking into a store. asking for help before something bad happens. thank for your help!! *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 11000 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on Aug 29, 2013.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . the transmission upon start up was locked in 4th gear. this is the third event of this type. the first time this occurred the transmission reset after i put the truck in park and restarted it. a trip to the dealership uncovered nothing. the second time was another cold start event with the transmission lockedn 4th gear. it took several restarts to reset but the check engine light was activated. another trip to the dealership and the cause was stated to be the solenoid pack in the transmission. this was repaired and all seemed fine. yesterday another cold start and the transmission locked in 4th. i drove the vehicle to the dealership in 4th gear. on the way i monitored the trans temp. it stayed at 86 degrees. the outside temp was 91 degrees. upon arrival at the dealership a mechanic went with me on a test drive. we returned to the shop and he began a diagnostic. the check engine light was not on. i was told that they believed there was a wiring harness issue and they would order one and replace it. the mechanic told me that he did something and the trans temp jumped from 86 degrees to 160+. there were several fault codes found during the diagnostic. the truck is currently at the dealership being repaired. the tuck has less than 7,000 miles on it. it has the 4.7 engine. the first event was in june 2013, then twice in august 2013..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 6500 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on Sept 01, 2013.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with EXTERIOR LIGHTING . the right headlight on my 2012 dodge ram 1500 failed while driving. the vehicle uses separate low and high beam bulbs. test showed that both low and high beam were affected on the failed side. i had recently purchased the truck used. when i called the previous owner he informed me that he had experienced the same problem at different times with each headlight. he had simply unplugged and replugged the headlight connectors to "fix" the problem. i removed the failed right headlight assembly. test showed that manipulating the wires (push, pull, stress to one side or the other) coming into the male side of the connector could cause the headlight work or fail. i performed a similar test on the (working) left side headlight with the same results - i could force failure at will, even though the connector was fully assembled and locked. upon inspection of the connectors, both appeared clean inside. i sprayed each with contact cleaner anyway, and reassembled only to find the same problem. manipulating the pins on the female side of the connector in effort to increase contact pressure resulted in no improvement when the connector was replugged. as a former failure analysis engineer i can tell you that there is a design / application problem with the headlight connectors used on this truck. short of contact plating analysis, it appears there is insufficient contact area and / or contact pressure on the small pins used. as a work-around, i used long nose pliers to reach inside the male connector body, and twisted the small, flat, male pins approximately 45 degrees to increase contact pressure. after reassembling both connectors in this manner, i can no longer force failure on either side. the stock headlight connectors used on this truck present a serious design flaw and safety issue since as designed, headlight failure may occur at any time. *js.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 61503 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on Jan 21, 2014.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with EXTERIOR LIGHTING . i purchased a 2012 dodge ram 1500 from a used dealer on january 21, 2012. this vehicle has by far the worst headlights of any vehicle i have ever driven. on the low beams with the fog lights off the light from my headlamps illuminates the road only about 30 to 40 feet in front of me. there is also a very dark area from the bumper out to about 20 feet. the high beams do not cast light much further but are wider. however with this wider light pattern the overall brightness is even worse. the only thing that makes this vehicle drive-able at night are the fog lights that at least fill in the dark area immediately in front of the vehicle that exists with the low beams. in the almost two months that i have owned my vehicle i have only used the high beams a handful of times. i have contacted chrysler group llc. and they have advised me that this is not an issue that they plan to address even though it is a safety issue. i work third shift and do the majority of my driving in rural areas at night and during low light conditions in the mornings. i simple internet search will show that this is not an isolated issue and many owners of 4th generation rams (2009-2014) feel that the headlights on these vehicles are less than adequate. my vehicle is a 390hp 4700lb vehicle, my fear is that it is only a matter of time till these headlight cause me to have an accident be cause i simply could not clearly see what was in front of me. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 21000 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on Jan 02, 2014.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with AIR BAGS . i purchased a 2012 dodge ram 1500 truck with slightly less than 36000 miles. the airbag light was going on and off intermittently thus indicating the airbags would not be deployed upon impact. i took the truck in to an authorized dodge dealership 7 times in an attempt to correct the problem. it seems at this point it is finally fixed (it sometimes takes 2-3 weeks before the problem recurs). the first time i took it into the dealership, they indicated that the airbag on the driver's side had been hardwired. according to the dealership, this was the fix for the problem at the time by chrysler, and this was verified by chrysler corp. there are many such complaints on the internet. unfortunately, i do not feel that most individuals know where to report faulty problems in order to force a change. i spent approximately $2000. i am sure if the dealership had not stepped into help that the bill would have been closer to $4500. corresponding with chrysler proved to be frustrating. i was told by chrysler that after i felt the problem was fixed i should fax the bills to them. the dealership even tried to get them to pay for the parts. i just received an phone message from them indicating the problem is fixed, and case will be closed. there was no reference for reimbursement. of course, i will write them back. i think what bothered me most was that when i informed them that there were complaints on-line and an article from upi indicating nhtsa had similar complaints, i was told that we don't listen to them. i am concerned that individuals may not realize that if the light is on the airbags will not deploy. note: the light went on at various speeds from 10-70 mph. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 36000 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on July 08, 2014.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with UNKNOWN OR OTHER . on july 8, 2014 my 2012 ram 1500 caught fire while parked in my driveway at home. the vehicle was last operated on the evening of july 7, 2014. at approximately noon on july 8, 2014 while working on my computer inside my house i detected the odor of burning plastic. i assume it was initially originating from inside my house. after investigating i walked outside and found that the interior of my truck was on fire. i put out the fire and immediately called the local fire department who responded to ensure that the fire was completely out. i immediately contacted my insurance company in addition to the local dealer, jeff d'amborsio auto group, i spoke with the service manager who in turn contacted his regional manager for guidance. i received a letter date july 10, 2014 from the chrysler customer claims resolution group advising they were in the process of reviewing my file. i was contacted by the resolution group and advised the file was being turned over to a group, isg, for further investigation in resolution. chrysler arranged to have the vehicle towed on july 12, 2014 to the jeff d' ambrosio dealership where a representative from chrysler was to inspect the vehicle. that inspection took place on tuesday, july 15th. the origin of the fire according to the insurance company fire investigator originated in the passenger side door panel and resulted in total damages of $23,000 which the insurance company deemed a total loss. my insurance company settled a claim by paying off the loan balance of $19,500 and submitted a check to me for the excess to cover the value of the vehicle. unfortunately i am not provided results of the investigation performed at the dealership by the representative from chrysler. the case number assigned by chrysler 25283630. as of today, august 13 i have no resolution directly from chrysler. .Vehicle was on fire. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 45000 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on Oct 06, 2014.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM . engine idle spiked and dropped in rush hour stop and go traffic until the truck eventually stalled. i placed the truck in park and tried restarting. the "electronic throttle control" light illuminated in the dash. i turned the truck off and tried restarting. the starter turned over but the truck acted as if an element needed for combustion was missing. i turned my hazards on--as traffic was clearing around me. i tried starting the truck a dozen times before calling 911 (since i was in the middle of an interstate hwy). i texted a friend who said try starting with the accelerator pedal fully depressed--the truck started, but then went right back to spiking idle and the engine died again. at this time traffic was speeding by so fast on both sides that i could not exit the vehicle. state patrol came to push me to the shoulder. truck started again on the shoulder after several attempts and i managed to move it about 50 feet before it died again. had truck towed to nearest dealership where they informed me it may take up to 2 weeks before they can diagnose my truck. still under warranty. second time this has happened with this vehicle in 6 weeks. first time dealership drove truck 84 miles and returned it with a note saying they could not replicate the problem..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 15333 miles. DODGE RAM 1500 2012 car safety problem was reported on Dec 10, 2014.DODGE RAM 1500 2012, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM . the week of march 9th of this year, we took the truck in for transmission problem and wheel alignment to the local dealer: frontier dodge chrysler jeep 5801 spur 327 lubbock, tx 79424 the transmission was repaired. the service advisor told us that they will only fix the alignment after they receive the recall part# n49. due to them having to realign it again after they repair n49. the steering wheel’s position is off. the logo is tilted to the right. with that said, its now december and we have not received any calls from the dealer. they have not contacted us with any updates. we called in june and the service desk and were told that they didn’t have our part yet. that was said even before we gave them our name. how did they know who they were talking to? after we identified the truck, they said that the part isn’t in yet. the only reason that we are contacting you is due to the poor customer service that we received at the local dodge dealer. and we understand that the recalls need to be done. the only problem is that its not getting don’t in a timely matter. the 2nd recall, with compartment fire, sounds like it could be a disaster. i don’t even feel comfortable driving the truck especially having my family in it. i would really like a call or some sort of response to the above situation..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):3C63DRNL8CG.
