ACURA TSX 2009 car safety problem was reported on Sept 12, 2008.ACURA TSX 2009, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE . in september 2008, i purchased a new 2009 acura tsx from an authorized acura dealer in pennsylvania. after a few weeks of driving, i started to notice a knocking noise coming from the engine. the noise occurs consistently while accelerating (particularly when accelerating between 2000-3000 rpms while going uphill). per the dealers instructions, i have used only premium fuel in the vehicle since the purchase date. i heard this knocking noise while driving the car throughout the winter; however, the noise has become progressively louder as the weather has become warmer (the noise is much louder when the temperature is above 60 degrees). i took the car into the dealer (where i purchased the car) today (4/24/09). one of the technicians rode along with me, and i was able to replicate the noise for him. the technician acknowledged the noise and said that i shouldn't worry about it, that it is a normal characteristic of the car. i received a receipt from the dealer stating this in writing. although the dealer states that this is a normal noise, it's not something i've ever heard in any other car before (including my last car, which was also an acura) and i'm concerned that this problem may actually cause damage to the engine over an extended period of time. there are many other people that have reported the same problem on this website, and on many of the acura discussion boards. my next step is to take the car to another acura dealer to get a second opinion, and also to contact acura's corporate customer service department. any assistance the nhtsa could provide to the group of people that are experiencing this problem would be greatly appreciated. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 500 miles. ACURA TSX 2009 car safety problem was reported on Nov 06, 2010.ACURA TSX 2009, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . vehicle: 2009 acura tsx w/tech package attempted to make a call via handsfree link. the audio system lowered sound in the normal manner. but instead of dead silence while waiting for voice command, this extremely loud and high pitched shrill-like tone was heard and volume could not be lowered. i turned the call 'off' and attempted to use handsfree link again, and same issue of high pitched tone was heard. i immediately drove to the nearest acura dealership and pulled into service area. repeated the steps in using the handsfree link for the service advisor and heard the same high pitched tone. he turned the car off and restarted engine. again, same high pitched deafening tone. since this incident occurred on a saturday afternoon, his suggestion of a replacement handsfree link module or part was not possible until monday. in an attempt to rectify the situation at least temporarily, the advisor removed a couple of fuses from inside the engine compartment relating to the radio and navigation system. he then reinserted said fuses and started the engine. he then had to enter the radio code into the system and reattempted to use handsfree link to make a call. all was back to normal. i asked him if he had ever encountered this situation in the past and he replied "yes, there had been one previous occurrence." note: will return to same dealer/service advisor since he is familiar with my particular situation. *tr.Mileage was 23240 miles. ACURA TSX 2009 car safety problem was reported on Feb 16, 2012.ACURA TSX 2009, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . the inner rear brake pads went from 6 in september to 1 - worn to the sensor in less than six months. the front brake pads remained at 8 and the outer rear brake pads were 6. mechanics with whom i have spoken have explained that the rear brake pads should not be wearing out prior to the front since the front brakes do most of the work. they also indicated that such uneven wear is not normal. of most concern to me is the safety issue. except for an intermittent noise like a little stick in my right rear tire well, i had no idea there was a problem. although it wasn't time for my regular service, i contacted my mechanic to make sure my car was ready for a road trip i was taking that weekend. because i mentioned the intermittent sound, they looked under the car and discovered the problem with the brakes. had i not been cautious, i could very well have had a serious problem on the road without ever anticipating it. while the acura dealer insists that such wear is not unusual for these cars, i find it very concerning that my brakes should be worn out in this way at 36000 miles. with previous cars, i have never needed brake pads until around 80,000 miles. it is upsetting to me to have this experience with a car that is renowned for its durability and to not have it covered under warranty. it seems odd to me that my mechanic and the other mechanics with who i consulted don't find this to be "normal wear and tear" and yet acura does. had i driven the car without checking, i would likely have had brake failure, destroyed the rotors and required a much more costly repair job. brake failure could also have meant an accident and injury, not just to my car and its passengers, . that little intermittent sound that i heard was so intermittent that my passengers never heard it - were it not for the mechanics in my family, i might not have noticed either. *tr.Mileage was 36711 miles. ACURA TSX 2009 car safety problem was reported on May 29, 2012.ACURA TSX 2009, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . when i took my car in for maintenance last year (9/11) they mentioned that at my next service visit i may need brakes. i was astounded given the low mileage and the fact that all my past cars never needed brakes this soon. the car was only two years old. i recently took my tsx in for b12 service (5/12) which cost over $400. i could not believe that i would need replacement brakes so did not authorize it. i only have 25,000 miles. the service representative claimed it was my driving style. everyone said it was just the dealership advising unnecessary work. the next day after service my left rear wheel started to squeal. when they removed the tires for the b12 service they evidently put the defective pad back on incorrectly. that day, i mentioned my brake issue to a friend and they informed about the defect and the class action suite. of course the service reps knew all along and never took responsibility. they could have offered me a discount on the brakes and explained the issue they were having with the 2009 tsx brakes. this could be a serious safety issue. additionally, i noticed a rust spot on my passenger side below the door their year (4/12). i have had no accidents. i thought with modern metals and paints this issue no longer existed. particularly with a new car and a acura. once again they blamed me and said it was my responsibility. there must have had a "impact". none that was visible of course..Mileage was 25000 miles. ACURA TSX 2009 car safety problem was reported on Oct 20, 2014.ACURA TSX 2009, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with UNKNOWN OR OTHER . bought car new may 2008, manual 6 speed. have had many repairs:brakes x4, antenna, driver's seat molding, air bags, roof molding, front window molding. i still love driving car despite the car gulping quarts of oil and no source of oil loss has been determined. began having difficulty shifting gears 09/2013. took to troy acura told clutch ok. clutch failed completely about 3 weeks later on i-75, could not get out of 2nd gear. replaced with acura parts $1761 repair costs on 10/30/2013. around june 2014, clutch would either depress rapidly or was very hard to depress at times. i attributed this to variable weather ( very hot alternating with damp rainy) since clutch not year old. developed loud,rattling vibration in steering during acceleration on lane changes 10/2013. told that both drive shafts bad and had seized into hub. surprised since i had zero warning that a problem existed. paid $2138 for repairs. asked jeffrey honda/acura to check condition of clutch because it was slipping, difficult to engage at times. informed clutch starting to show wear/air in system and may need to be replaced. told jeffrey honda/acura clutch replaced 10/2013! they thought it was original part. told to take it back to troy acura. troy told me that warranty had expired (12,000 miles or one year) and i would have to agree to $995 fee to have problem investigated and cost of repairs since warranty no longer valid. additionally, there was nothing that could be done without me agreeing to cover costs of investigation. i disagreed with them. manager at troy suggested that i look in acura handbook for 800 number and contact acura client services because he did not have number to call since i had already declined to have problem investigated by them. this was poor workmanship or defective part. acura and troy acura should be held accountable for such blatant early failure on clutch. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 136000 miles.
