LLC. had a problem with TIRES:TREAD/BELT . on january 29, 2007 i took my 2006 volvo xc90 2wd to the volvo dealer for the 15,000 mile scheduled service to include the scheduled tire rotation and balance. the car had 14,764 miles. the service advisor called later in the day to state that (1) i needed front brake pads, and (2) needed four new tires because the original equipment tires were completely worn out. when i asked why those items were needed, he told me (1) the front brake pads wear early because they aren't large enough to support the weight of the car, and (2) the original 17" pirellii scorpion zero tires are a performance tire and "too soft" for the vehicle and thus wear out prematurely. he estimated i had about 1 or 2 mm of tread left, and advised me not to drive in the rain. i spoke to the volvo dealer service manager the same day who said he would look into getting me 4 new tires free from pirelli as a one-time "goodwill" gesture. on january 30, 2007, the volvo service manager called to say that because my car was under 15,000 miles pirelli had agreed to replace all 4 tires free. the 17" tires needed to be ordered and would arrive in 4-6 weeks. the service manager assured me that my car was safe to drive until the new tires were installed. on march 18, 2007 i noticed that the tread had completely worn away on both back tires, and belt is showing through. on march 19, 2007 i called the volvo dealer to find out what was the status of my new pirelli tires and was told that there were no 17" pirelli tires in stock, and they had to be special ordered. i told the service scheduler that the car is undrivable because the tires are completely bald. i am still waiting for the volvo dealer to call me back. .Mileage was 14764 miles. LLC. had a problem with TIRES:TREAD/BELT . shortly after 14,000 miles, we took our 2006 volvo xc90 in to have our tires rotated and balanced. the tire dealership would not even touch the tires but advised us to go directly to volvo because the tires were an extreme safety hazard. after about a month and repeated phone calls, volvo did replace the tires, charging us for one tire. there have been numerous reports of bad pirelli tires on the 2006 xc90. volvo blames pirelli; pirelli blames volvo. there have been no recalls on the tires, although volvo in tallahassee made reference to a memo from volvo alerting them to the problem. we feel fortunate that we caught the problem before we or others were injured and are appalled that volvo has done nothing to inform the owners of the danger. our problem is fixed, at least momentarily, but there are other cars on the road with these same tires and drivers who are completely unaware of the danger. they are riding the same roads we are and could very likely be coming at us across lanes of traffic due to the tires. so, we are not actually safe! can someone do something to force volvo to do a recall or at least alert the owners? this did not show up at the 7,000 mile checkup with volvo and we were not warned, even though the service people had the memo at that time. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Volvo Xc90 2006 problem was reported in TALLAHASSEE, FL. LLC. had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . i drove home from work and messages started to appear warning me of the engine not working properly, low beams not working. drove it home. turned it off & wipers would not stop. we unhooked the battery cable using the manual. took it to have battery tested, bad cell. replaced battery & wipers quit working, air bag light warning came on. took to mechanic to have wiper motor tested, it was fine. took to volvo, they wanted to replace wiper motor, told them that was not the only problem. took to different volvo and they diagnosed, after three hours, the cem was corroded due to a crack in the box that houses it. wanted $3500 for the repair. i left without it and started to research it. found out volvo acknowledged a fault in the seal in a traffic safety report. contacted volvo about the repair, started discussions about a good will repair, three weeks later i received a call stating they would not cover any part of it. the volvo looses power and could be unsafe at any time. there are many discussions of this on different volvo. i don't understand how volvo says it is a fault of the part and then refuses to replace it. i am driving it at this time, while i figure out a more economical route. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 95000 miles. VOLVO XC90 2006 car safety problem was reported on Jan 07, 2013.VOLVO XC90 2006, manufactured by Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . while going approximately 35 mph and in a slight turn (very mild curve), traffic in front of me slowed. i moved my foot to the brake and the brake pedal was "hard" and the brakes did not work. i let off the brake and put my foot back on the pedal again, very firmly. the abs immediately kicked in. had traffic not started to speed up, i would have rear-ended the car in front of me. not fun, volvo. when you press the brakes, you expect them to actually work. no error messages were on for the brake system or any other error messages at all. the brakes just didn't work. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 128000 miles. VOLVO XC90 2006 car safety problem was reported on Mar 28, 2014.VOLVO XC90 2006, manufactured by Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC had a problem with SEAT BELTS . i entered the car and attempted to put on the driver's seat belt. it would not release from its housing (inside the panel above my left shoulder). it made a strong clicking noise, as if it had locked up. i made numerous other attempts to put on my seat belt, with the engine turned on, turned off, car in park, car in drive, car moving. no change. i feel this is a serious safety issue. when i called volvo, they told me that seatbelts were only covered under a 5 year warranty. i would expect seatbelts to have mandatory lifetime warranties, required by law. i am surprised to find that this is not the case. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 134000 miles.
