VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010 car safety problem was reported on Jan 02, 2010.VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . conditions: 20 degrees, sunny, louisville, kentucky. vehicle: 2010 vw gti 4-dr w/dsg transmission. currently 263 miles on the odometer. backed out of my garage, put the car in drive (d), and proceeded down my driveway. began driving out my subdivision and noticed the engine rpms were getting louder and the car appeared to be stuck in 1st gear. i put the dsg transmission in both manual mode and sport mode, tried to manually shift the vehicle into another gear, but had no success. stopped the car, turned it off, waited a few minutes, started the car, started driving again. same behavior... the car would only run in 1st gear. proceeded to turn around to get the vehicle back to my house only to learn that reverse was not working. contacted vw roadside assistance and had them tow the car to the local vw dealership. service is closed until monday, 1/4/2010, so will not know next steps until then. confirmed manufacture date of this 2010 vw gti was 07/2009 (apparently within the time frame vw has indicated there were manufacturing issues with the dsg transmission). the symptom of the failure i experienced is far different than the current recall from vw (cars shifting into neutral). in this case, my car simply would not shift out of 1st gear and also would not work in reverse). believe the vw dsg transmission issue is only going to expand. would like to see the nhtsa further investigate this matter with vw to ensure all affected transmissions are replaced. *tr regards, brian pearson .Mileage was 263 miles. VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010 car safety problem was reported on Nov 14, 2009.VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with EQUIPMENT . i purchased a new 2010 voksawagen gti in the beginning of november 2009.only a few days after i took delivery of it i started having issues with the braking system.i was driving home going the speed limit around a long turn that i have been driving for 7 years now and all of a sudden the car made a feeling like i had ran over something big or had a flat tire,i was not pressing on the brakes or hard on the gas,i was just driving normally.i pulled over and i could not find any damage to the car or a flat tire.i got back in the car and went back to the turn and there was nothing in the road and it was completely dry that night to.it felt like a grinding crunchy feeling and sounded like a flat tire grinding on the pavement or something crunchy,it also slowed the car down a little bit.i took it in to the dealership and they had it for a week and when i picked it up they said they could not find a problem.i drove the car home and a day later it did the same exact thing,a few days after that i was getting off the interstate i went to press on the brakes and my brake pedal was solid so i had to downshift to slow down,having no brakes is very scary,the next day it rained for the first time since i had the car and the sunroof started leaking and then a few days later the radio started turning down and muting by itself,i took the car in again and the dealer had it for 3 weeks and when i picked it up all they had fixed was the sunroof.i demanded someone come out to drive the car and he got it to do the crunch going around a turn and a few days later he said it was normal,if its normal why doesnt it do it everytime?it still does the chrunchy thing a few times a week and the radio is still acting up on a daily basis and wouldnt let me press on the brakes yesterday going around a turn.the dealer says its working like it should but i dont see how if i cant use my brakes when i need them, its very dangerous and scary.i have been keeping logs and miles when these problems occured..Mileage was 250 miles. VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010 car safety problem was reported on Mar 15, 2010.VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . dsg automatic trans has given me several minor but one scary problem since having vehicle less than one year. on any colder morning 50 degrees or below the vehicle will dramatically leap forward upon acceleration. its as if it doesn't seem to shift properly then starts working better after it warms up. this march i experienced a much scarier situation. i was driving close to home when somebody pulled out in front of me i was able to stop in time but the car acted very strange after i started moving again. the only was to describe it is that the car was stuck in first gear for a block or so the engine was revving very high and car wouldn't go very fast at all. after a block or so in finally started working correctly. i have had it to the dealer twice now once for 60 day and also the 10k service. vw has stated that there were no codes in the computer so therefore there was no problem. i know there were no codes in the computer all codes are registered on the vehicle computer display. vw needs to admit they have a problem and fix this situation. if you read this and have similar problems please take the time to fill this out so vw is held accountable for the problems on all dsg transmissions that a lot of people seem to be experiencing. *tr.Mileage was 7000 miles. VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010 car safety problem was reported on July 02, 2011.VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . i have a 2010 vw gti currently with 13,000 miles on it. the first instances happened at about 10,000. it started with brake vibrations, and engine stalling. took it to vw, they found no issues. had total brake boost loss on the way home, brake didnt work felt stiff as hell. vw took it for 3 days, did an engineering assist, found no issues and couldnt reproduce it, gave it back and said to monitor it. drove down to tampa, the cars transmission went into neutral, an error popped up on the display and the cars brakes wouldnt respond. e-braked on the median, i had a child in the car, this car is dangerous. vw towed the car to the local dealership, found the mechatronix unit was faulty, couldnt find any in florida, had to order from vw estimated 1 week delivery time. mechatronix unit was fixed under warranty after a lengthy repair. now the cars still acting up, stalls occasionally, has trouble starting, and jerks violently between 1st and 2nd gear and makes a loud popping sound. vw took it for 2 days and still cannot reproduce these issues and gave it back after i told vwoa that it was an unsafe vehicle and i didnt want it. i am now driving an unsafe vehicle, and because the vehicle has safety concerns i am unable to trade the vehicle in or sell it privately due to having to notify the buyer of said safety issues. im suck with this dangerous vehicle that stalls at lights and has trouble starting/getting into gear. im scared for the safety of my passengers and other motorists around me. and im not getting anywhere with this company! *tt.Mileage was 10000 miles. VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010 car safety problem was reported on July 10, 2013.VOLKSWAGEN GTI 2010, manufactured by Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. had a problem with POWER TRAIN . the first incident that i had was starting with the car making weird noises that were coming from the engine/transmission when the car would start. it is hard to explain the noise, but it sounded like something was winding up. i took the car to dealership. they weren't able to establish what was wrong with the car. check engine light didn't come on, and car did not reproduce the same noise when i took it to the dealership. i was told that they couldn't see anything wrong with the car. 09/05/2013, more noise, and this time was followed by hard downshifts, and hard bucking. every time the car would accelerate, or if you were coming to the stop, it would shift hard, car would buck. i was told that the dsg mechatronic unit has failed. transmission replaced 04/09/2014 my wife was driving the car. speed 45 to 50 mph. she noticed that the car wasn't able to accelerate. engine was revving up, but car wouldn't go. pulled over on the shoulder, before someone rear ended her. she looked at the dash board, and she noticed that "d" was flashing. she took the car to dealer to see what is going on. i was told that a power supply relay was the cause of this problem, and it wasn't covered by the power train warranty. part # 4h0-951-253-a relay car was picked up on 04/24/2014 05/08/2014 i stopped at the red light, was going to make a right turn, but the car wouldn't want to accelerate. it felt like it was in neutral. engine was revving, but car wouldn't move. i looked at the dash board, and "d" light was flashing. i pulled onto the side of the road, so i don't get rear ended. i tried to select the neutral gear, "n" was flashing. each gear position that i selected was flashing. i drove the car back to dealer, and told them what have happened. car is currently at the dealer. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 38000 miles.
