TOYOTA YARIS 2009 car safety problem was reported on Aug 28, 2009.TOYOTA YARIS 2009, manufactured by TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION had a problem with EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE . i rented a late model (i believe 2009) silver toyota yaris in august 2009 from alamo at the orlando fl airport (mco) location for a 2000 mile trip. i don't know the vin. this was just before the widely reported problems with the floor mats on toyotas. i had that exact problem and had to keep pulling it back, often while driving at 70 mph. i'm an engineer and do all my own mechanical work on my own cars, so there's no mistake about this. i tried to re-attach the mat at a rest stop. it was easy to see that the mats would easily come loose as they shift around by normal movements of one's feet; and they did again. these were clearly stock mats because they were perfectly aligned to the insufficient hooks. also, they were not stacked on other mats. just normal stock mats with poorly designed attachments. i noticed that toyota did not recall the yaris, which is why i'm making sure to file this complaint. i suppose they'll wait until more people die first; likely kids in yarises. *tr.Mileage was 36111 miles. (i live in an area with a lot of trees and there may be decaying leaves on the road at an intersection.) when i went into the service center, the service representative shared an incident of a mechanic who found a small pebble in the brakes of a vehicle which was experiencing the brake failure problem. i don't have 8,000 miles on my car yet and this has occurred at least 5 times. i have been driving for over 30 years and brought my first car (a ford) when i was 20. i have never experienced a brake failure problem like this that seems to be part of the brakes design. *tr.Mileage was 2000 miles.
