(this is my 4th subaru and my 36th winter driving season so not an inexperience problem.) it was snowing but the roads were clear of thick snow but had a thin greasy sheen. it was difficult to keep a straight line and the rear end felt like it wanted to spin out (the old rear wheel drive feel) especially if the wind blew. most cars were passing me old new big small. as a subaru driver i am used to passing others on winter roads and did not like feeling like the little old man everyone was steering around. thinking the problem was the factory installed tires, we bought new snow tires for $925 at belle tire the morning of the return home. similar weather (snowy blowing greasy roads). the car handled slightly better. but each time we got up to speeds over 40 mph the car would try to turn abruptly whenever we went under or over an overpass on a straightaway....very nerve racking. ended up bailing out in a hotel in toledo until the next morning when the roads were mostly bare and dry. i am very familiar and like the feeling of the awd kicking in to enhance the traction and control of the car. in this situation it feels like the awd is kicking in and trying to turn the car anytime there is a slight slick spot. did check to see if the car would try to drift left or right on a dry flat straightaway (goes straight). i am hoping the problem is related to a rear end alignment issue but disconcerted by my car which feels dangerous when i most need it to be reliable. very similar complaint descriptions on this website for outbacks described as ghostwalking. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 11000 miles. Subaru Xv Crosstrek 2013 EngineSubaru Xv Crosstrek 2013 Engine Review #10560378 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK 2013 car safety problem was reported on Oct 08, 2013.SUBARU XV CROSSTREK 2013, manufactured by Subaru of America, Inc. had a problem with ENGINE . the vehicle has a continuously variable transmission. when approaching a stop light or stop sign i remove my foot from the gas pedal and then the vehicle starts to slow down. when the engine rpm's reach around 1400 rpm the vehicle quits slowing down and continues forward at what ever speed it is at. the car may not be accelerating but it feels like it is because it quits slowing down. if i touch the brake a bit the engine again slows down until it reaches the idle rpm of about 750. on several occasions i have had to quickly hit the brakes to avoid hitting the vehicle in from of me. i purchased the vehicle in minnesota and noticed the problem within the first week but didn't pursue it until i got to texas as this is where the vehicle will be kept. the texas subaru service found no diagnostic codes and drove the vehicle with me and noticed what i did. the texas subaru service manager had me drive a 2014 and it does the same thing but seems to start slowing down again once it has done the acceleration at 1400 rpm for a second or two. they opened a tech line case file but say there is nothing else they can do. i feel this is a safety issue that will cause an accident, maybe not for me as i now keep my foot on the brake whenever slowing down, but certainly for others. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 500 miles. I test drove a 2011 Subaru Outback yesterday at night in a very dark area with the headlights on. I could only see out of the bottom third of the windshield. The top two thirds of the windshield looked as if a black curtain had dropped down over i I notice if I quickly accelerate/go into overdrive - front of car will hum. Do I need to have something checked out? 2004 forester xt, strong gas smell in the cold weather when the heat is on. They won't fix it because they "can't find it" at my dealership. Do I need a new fuel line or is there an easier fix? Thank you for these, can find a decent review now. My 1998 subaru forester stutters/hiccups/bucks (whatever you call it) when going uphill, and when accelerating on a straight path, can it be the transmission? I HAVE A SUBARU FORESTER 2000 TAIL LIGHT/PLATE LIGHT/'FRONT SIGNAL LIGHT STAYS ON.ONCE FUSE IS REMOVED LIGHT GOES OUT.WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE? I own a 2008 Subaru impreza, till last week i was fine, but now it is having some problem i.e it is making whining sound from steering pump, will i have to replace the steering pump and hoe much will it cost. Standard on all Impreza models are anti lock disc brakes, stability control, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints to help mitigate crash-induced whiplash 2006 Subaru outback died. Will not tke a boost. With battery cable connected there is an error code in the odometer. Does anybody know what this can be? 2007 Forester bangs into gear-been doing this mainly in cold weather but now all the time. Dealer always says not problem-it has to "warm up" and doesnt want ot deal with it. My 2002 Impreza Outback Sport's check engine light comes on when I'm going downhill, not all the time. Also (not all the time), if I don't downshift when coming to a stop, the car dies, not stalls, dies. It starts right back up. The engine l i just wrecked my 04 wrx front impact and no air bag and seat belt locked after the impact...how do i contact some one to have this investigated?
