NISSAN MAXIMA 2009 car safety problem was reported on Apr 14, 2009.NISSAN MAXIMA 2009, manufactured by NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. had a problem with SEATS . in january 2009 i purchased a brand new 2009 nissan maxima. in april my interior lights, steering wheel and seat and the heat on my drivers side seat stopped working. i took my car in to the nissan dealer for repairs, i was told that there was and electrical problem and that they had repaired it. two weeks later the same thing happened to me when i went to georgia, when i got back to maryland i took my car into the nissan dealer for repairs again and was told that they could not find anything wrong with my car. on may 19th my steering wheel stuck in the highest upward position again and also my seat was not working, and the locks on the doors kept locking and unlocking while my car was turned on but not being driven, on may 20th i took my car in for repairs again, the service writer at the nissan dealer looked at it and also noticed the problem ( my steering wheel was still stuck in the upward position and the seat was not working), after he played around with several buttons he told me that everything seemed to be doing fine and he didn't know if they could do anything for me. i told him that i would leave my car for repairs because i knew something was wrong still with my car. i received a phone call from the dealer and was told that they could not find anything wrong. i know something is wrong, so where do i go from here. this has been three times that they have tried to fix my car and i am getting nowhere. *tr.Mileage was 6500 miles. NISSAN MAXIMA 2009 car safety problem was reported on May 28, 2009.NISSAN MAXIMA 2009, manufactured by NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . i bought a brand new nissan maxima in nov. my sister borrowed the car for the weekend and the brakes failed causing her to hit the vehicle in front of her. the car had to be towed to a body shop, the mechanic on duty got the car running, while removing the car from the tow truck he drove the car about ten feet and the first thing he said was the brakes feel fluffy. the car was repaired and cleared by the body shop, it was there rough 5 weeks, i took the car to the dealer who then inspected the car and brakes, they said nothing was wrong and documented the incident. on july 25 i was driving home from the park with my daughter in the back seat when the brakes failed again, i was lucky nobody was in front of me. i got the car stopped and thankfully i was less then a mile away from home. on monday i called the dealer and told them it happened again and said they can come pick it up, i wont drive it and no longer feel safe in it. they had it towed out that same day, they have had the car ever since. the car was inspected again on august 21 2009, and cleared again. i was told monday that nothing was wrong with the car. to my knowledge nothing has ever been replaced or repaired on the braking system. *tr.Vehicle was involved in a crash. NISSAN MAXIMA 2009 car safety problem was reported on Dec 17, 2009.NISSAN MAXIMA 2009, manufactured by NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC . the brakes on my nissan maxima failed and i was almost hit by cars as i slid into a major intersection while braking for a red light. i was only driving at 5mph because i saw the light from about five car lengths away and i braked at 2 car lengths away from the light. i braked again twice but the brakes continued to fail as i slid into the intersection. luckily for me, the oncoming traffic was able to stop in time for me to move the car to a safe position. the brakes then held again until i drove to the dealer.the brake problem occurred twice before though i did not recognize it as such , once on the same day and once within the same week. it was intermittent. it occurred at speeds less than 20mph and within 10 minutes of starting the car and driving. the outside temperature was 20 to 25 degrees f and the roads were clean. i immediately took the car to the dealer who said that nissan engineers have to evaluate the car. its been more than three weeks, neither the dealer nor i have heard from nissan as to what they are doing about it. i even reported the incidents to the online nissan consumers.they acknowledged receiving the complaint and that's all. i am still driving the rental car arranged by the dealer. *tr.Mileage was 30000 miles. NISSAN MAXIMA 2009 car safety problem was reported on Sept 25, 2009.NISSAN MAXIMA 2009, manufactured by NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . while traveling in the number (2) lane of the us 405 n freeway at speeds of over 65 mph, i noticed that the battery light started flickering, and within 10 seconds the accelerator ceased to respond when pressure was applied. when the accelerator was pushed, the engine would rev, and the rpm gauge would show the gauge moving up, but the engine would not respond. i pushed the accelerator all the way inwards, but the engine would not respond. approximately 15-20 seconds later, i noticed that the engine ceased operating, and the wheel locked. i was also unable to apply the brakes, as when i pushed the brakes nothing happened and the brake pedal felt very stiff and non-responsive. at the same time, lights on the dashboard cluster were illuminated. i started panicking as i had no control of a vehicle traveling over 60 mph on a freeway during evening hours los angeles traffic. i immediately activated my emergency indicators, and waited in complete panic until the vehicle came to a rolling stop on the side of the freeway. during the same evening, the vehicle started to exhibit the same malfunctions as experienced earlier that day and the vehicle died in the middle of the street. diagnosis: client states vehicle won't start. brake and battery lights are on after charging the battery performed battery test with the battery tester center midtronics nissan mcr620. gr8 battery tester was unable at this time. test results good battery and charging system incident. upon inspection terminal 1 connector f6 found terminal melting where connect to alternator and also part of the harness and alternator burnt due to terminal nut loose and has much play. call nissan tech line, and report the incident and also for help. *tr the consumer also stated when he applied the brake, the steering wheel and the entire vehicle started to shake. the battery light would illuminate at times when the vehicle was in park and would start to flicker and flash. updated 05/05/10.*jb.Mileage was 6907 miles. (fault code b2612) totaling $800.00 w/ labor. i declined service and to top it off my windows are stuck. NISSAN MAXIMA 2009 car safety problem was reported on Dec 13, 2013.NISSAN MAXIMA 2009, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with SUSPENSION . our vehicle began making loud squeaking/rattling sounds under our hood on the front passenger side. we noticed the sounds were getting louder, so my husband decided to take our vehicle into a nissan dealership for observation on december 24, 2013. while at the dealership, he was told very quickly that the sounds we had been hearing were the result of the cracking of our suspension/strut insulator. he was also told that the same cracking suspension/strut insulator problem that we are experiencing had affected mostly all of the 2009-2010 maxima model vehicles that had been manufactured, launching a recall (nhtsa campaign number 09v358000), effective september 16, 2009. after finding out this information, we contacted nissan motor acceptance corporation on december 24, 2013, but nmac was closed. on december 27, 2013, i contacted a representative at nmac and explained the issues that we are having with our 2009 nissan maxima, and stated the issues we are experiencing are the exact issues that were documented as a vehicle hazard under the nhtsa campaign number 09v358000. i was told by the representative that my vin # was not affected by this recall; however, i asked the representative to please extend the recall campaign to include my vin #, since obviously, my nissan maxima was one of the first 2009 models manufactured, and it is clear that whatever problems the rest of the 2009 models are experiencing, unless the formula regarding how the suspension/strut insulators had been manufactured when i purchased my vehicle had changed, then there is no way my vehicle could not have been affected. after several days of communication back and forth with the nissan representative, we were told today that nissan will not extend the recall to included my vin # but will only offer to pay 1/2 the cost of the parts only, no labor costs. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 111000 miles. NISSAN MAXIMA 2009 car safety problem was reported on Oct 10, 2009.NISSAN MAXIMA 2009, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with AIR BAGS . i purchased the 2009 nissan maxima from the dealer, brand new, in november, 2008. several months later, i noticed that as i sat in the passenger seat, the airbag light would come on indicating that the airbag would not deploy in an accident. i am 5'4" and 140 pounds and not a child or even a smaller adult. throughout the past 5 years, the same problem would happen when someone sat in the passenger seat. the light will come on unexpectedly while i sat there and my husband drove. i took the car to the dealer on 2 occasions (first time in 2009 and again in 2010) and explained to them what was happening and that i felt unsafe sitting in that seat should we have an accident. they said that they could not replicate the problem and unless the computer spits out an error code, there was nothing they could do (even though it was under warranty). now the car is over 5 years old and has 85,000 miles on it. my powertain warranty is expired (as it ended at 60,000 miles). it is now that the passenger air bag light stays on constantly, even when nobody is sitting in the seat. also, the flashing air bag light on my dashboard stays on. i took it to the dealer again and they said it's the sensor in the passenger seat that has failed. it gave an error cod b1018. since it is no longer under warranty, it will cost me $1,900 out of pocket. i contacted nissan's consumer affairs department and asked them to cover it…they denied the claim and will not cover the repair. i want to alert the nhtsa that this is a problem not only on newer nissans, but also on the older nissans, including the 2009 maxima. my hope is that this year and model will be considered for an expanded recall to the current recall. this is a huge safety issue and one that nissan should agree to take care of for all cars that show this problem. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 11000 miles. NISSAN MAXIMA 2009 car safety problem was reported on July 08, 2014.NISSAN MAXIMA 2009, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with TIRES . on july 8, 2014 (10 days after the tires were purchased and only the 4th time i had driven on the new tires) i was driving my son to physical therapy (about 15 miles away) on the interstate in baton rouge, the car was feeling a lil shaky but i thought it was the road conditions knowing i had just purchased new tires. when we were returning home my tire light came on and i stopped to look at the tires. i got out looked for a flat did not see any low tires and then returned to driving home. when i entered the interstate my car began to shake again and i stayed at a 50 mph speed just hoping to make it home, after about 5 miles the tire blew out and started slapping the side of my car, i was losing control of the car with my 10 year old as a passenger. i was able to make it to the shoulder of the interstate safely but very scared and confused. as i examined the damage i could not understand what happened to the tire, it was unrolled from the rim, it was peeled in a strip. i was now stranded on the interstate with my child in over 100 degree temperature. we returned the tire to sams club where we purchased it, they ordered me a new tire and told us to call goodyear about the damaged tire, the service center said they had never seen a tire peel off the rim like that one. we filed a claim just as good year advised us to do and shipped the damaged tire. at this point i am driving on a spare tire and have damage to my car that was in perfect condition. i had to take a day off work to get 2 quotes for the damage and i received a letter in the mail stating that the tire was not defective. the goodyear customer service agent was rude and the most unhelpful person i have ever spoken with! i am a hard working middle class american woman and this is the most unjust thing i have ever encountered. i am mentally afraid to drive my car for a long distance and now i have to continue to drive a damaged car. goodyear is the worst company i have ever had dealings with. please help!.Mileage was 46842 miles.
