NISSAN ALTIMA 2012 car safety problem was reported on Jan 12, 2013.NISSAN ALTIMA 2012, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with AIR BAGS . the passenger side air bag off warning light intermittently turns on when there is a passenger seated in the passenger seat. this indicates that if there were an accident while this warning light is on; the passenger air bag would not go off; which can result in serious injury. i have brought this vehicle to the dealer three times for this issue and they tell me that there are no "codes" to be read and they are unable to reproduce this. the dealer expressed concern that they would have to replace the entire passenger seat because the occupancy classification sensor can't be individually replaced. apparently this seat is quite expensive; over $2000 and the dealer claims that they can't just replace it without some authorization from nissan. i have even taken a video of my wife in the car seated in the passenger seat and the airbag off warning light is turned on (youtu.be/uwoqjqwraei) and have provided a link to the dealer. i have called nissan consumer affairs hoping they would have my car fixed. they reply they gave was that since the dealer couldn't reproduce it; they can't do anything. my wife is afraid of driving in the car with me for fear that she could be injured. i have even posted this video so my last resort is to report this to nhtsa where i see that someone else has posted a similar incident. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 29100 miles. NISSAN ALTIMA 2012 car safety problem was reported on Sept 20, 2012.NISSAN ALTIMA 2012, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with ENGINE . purchased my 2012 nissan altima coupe 8/2/2012. in just over 30 days the paint was coming off the rear bumper on both sides near the rear tire where the bumper meets the body of the car. took the car in to have the bumper repainted. within 60 days the paint was coming off in the same place again. took the car back last month and was repainted with 3 flaws...needless to say it has to go back yet again!! also, within a few days of purchase i noticed that the radio would not pick up local radio stations without a lot of static and interference. only 1 out of 12 presets do i get on a consistent basis and i only drive within a 25-30 mile radius of my home. took to the dealer and they said it was because of the window tint. gave them information from 3m that the tint would not interfere with the radio and then they said they didn't hear it. taken back on several occasions and no resolve. noticed 3/17/2013 that my leather wrapped steering wheel has split in the grain of leather and it is right where my right hand goes to drive. transmission is not consistent...when i let off the gas briefly it is as if someone has hit the brake pedal and the car "draws back"...very annoying!!! i also purchased xzilon paint protection system at the dealers recommendation because the car is black and i live in fl...now 7 months later this protectant has completely ruined the paint on my car and shows horrible marks on the hood and leaves terrible water spots on the vehicle that are almost impossible to remove. taking to the dealer for the new paint issue tomorrow. i am hoping to just trade in and get another car...unfortunately under the circumstances it will be a nissan...but will not be an altima! *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 1050 miles. NISSAN ALTIMA 2012 car safety problem was reported on Oct 08, 2014.NISSAN ALTIMA 2012, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . brake failure due to 4 seized brake calipers. my wife was unable to stop completely at a busy intersection entering oncoming traffic lanes. no cars were present or she would have been hit, but very scary for my wife. all four rotors showed only a thin stripe of pad contact down the middle of the rotor. took car to dealership was told this was normal and not covered under the warranty due to corrosion of there calipers. car had been in there repair shop 7 months earlier. rotor deglazing was recommended but nothing was said about the brakes calipers seizing and brake failure. deglazing of rotors would have been at my expense and i felt this was the dealerships responsibility if there was a safety issue. being unaware of the severity of this "common" problem i elected to pass. never did anybody state that this could lead to total brake failure and was anything but deglazing of the rotors, a dealer add on expense. spoke to my local mechanic and he thought it was unnecessary. i had to replace all for rotors and pads, they cleaned up the calipers and said they should be fine. how will i know if they are fine or not? must i have brake failure again to find out they were wrong? i do not trust the brakes on this vehicle, they should not seize up on a 2 1/2 yr old car thats kept in a heated garage daily. they stated it was because of my location, upstate new york, and they could not guarantee the brakes system in such a harsh environment. i have never heard of brakes rusting and seizing before on any vehicle this new with such few miles. the manufacturer uses inferior materials to build its parts and its the consumers responsibility to be aware of this? i had no idea that there brake calipers seizing due to driving in the winter was a "common" safety issue. how can this be my responsibility to know that they have a problem with there braking system?.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 35528 miles. NISSAN ALTIMA 2012 car safety problem was reported on Sept 20, 2012.NISSAN ALTIMA 2012, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with AIR BAGS . our 2012 nissan altima's passenger airbag light will shows the airbag being inactive while a person is sitting in the passenger seat. all people who have sat in this seat this issue occurred are over 120 pounds. twice we took the car to the planet nissan in las vegas where we purchased the car. their service department said since the issue can be replicated they cannot do anything to fix the issue. this has happened at least a 100 hundreds times in the past two years of ownership. every time we call a dealership we hear the same answer unless we can see the problem and duplicate it we cannot help you. the issue is the airbag light can be lit (showing airbag to active) and on the way to the dealership the light goes out and we are back to square one. after two years of getting nowhere with this we took video of the last time it happened. we brought this to autonation nissan in las vegas and they check the wiring harness said it is not loos there is nothing else we can do unless we can duplicate the issue. we logged a complaint with nissan usa hq and received the same response, sorry we cannot help you nay further. with all the recent and past nissan airbag recalls i am shocked at their lack of wanting to do something extra to troubleshoot the the problem. i have researched many car forums and this is a common problem with nissan, they push the consumer away with the typical cannot replicate the problem therefore it isn't one. at this point there is no guarantee anyone sitting in the passenger seat is safe in a head on crash. is it going to take a person's death for nissan to step up and make this right? this eerily reminiscent of gm not acting on the faulty ignition switches in a timely manner..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 3000 miles. NISSAN ALTIMA 2012 car safety problem was reported on May 14, 2014.NISSAN ALTIMA 2012, manufactured by Nissan North America, Inc. had a problem with POWER TRAIN . work/repair orders, available on request. it appears to be a common issue with nissan altima's featuring the ctv transmission. 1) purchased the car from hertz, 12/13. 2) acceleration problem noted when first extended trip was taken to bakersfield in 5/14. 3) problem: when the engine was warm the transmission sensor fails and car can not accelerate. car failed going over the "grapevine" in gorman, ca. 4) under nissan 60m warranty, took the car to get checked. car had 59m miles on it. explained the problem. they claimed it was a throttle sensor. fixed it under warranty. 5) next trip to las vegas, going up the i-15 through victorville, aug/2014. the exact same problem occurred. acceleration failed when engine was warm and climbing a gradual incline. 6) took the car back to bp nissan. now they claim to know for sure the problem was not with the throttle sensor but with the ctv transmission. unfortunately they now claim my car is no longer under warranty and requires a $4,000.00 new transmission. 7) after researching the problem it appears this is a common problem for the new altima ctv transmission. they new what the problem was when i first brought the car in with 59m miles on it. they "kicked the can down the road" hoping i wouldn't come back until after the 60m mile warranty expired. dangerous situation having to pull to the side of the freeway. especially with kids in the car. they refuse to give me a "decline of service" letter. please advise. regards, tom timmons .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 59341 miles.
