Gmc Sierra 1500 2003 SuspensionGmc Sierra 1500 2003 Suspension Review #10341952 GMC SIERRA 1500 2003 car safety problem was reported on May 13, 2010.GMC SIERRA 1500 2003, manufactured by GENERAL MOTORS CORP. had a problem with SUSPENSION . had dealership replace driver side front wheel bearing because it was making a grinding noise. a couple months later the front brake pads and rotors were replaced. after the brakes were serviced, i started noticing that the brakes were pulsating, which was felt in the pedal, at low speeds. took vehicle to the dealership and they said during the test drive that the abs system was activating unnecessarily. they then put it on the diagnostic machine for some reasons. i was told i needed to replace both wheel abs sensors. the dealership said that the abs has nothing to do with the brake pads and rotors. when the pads and rotors were replaced, again the vehicle was put on the diagnostic machine, but didn't pick up that the sensors were firing. i'm doubting it is coincidence that these things are happening at random. there has to be some kind of correlation between the wheel bearing being replaced, the pads and rotors being replaced, and now the sensors needing to be replaced. my vehicle is a 2003 gmc sierra and has 47000 miles on it. all this happened within the last 6 months and 1500 miles. *tr.Mileage was 47500 miles. (this vehicle is primarily driven by my husband to work and back daily. no indicator light ever came on.) there were children playing in the street. after avoiding a ball that had rolled down a driveway and into the street, he pressed on the brake and the pedal went to the floor. he then pressed on the emergency brake, the emergency brake did not stop the truck. on his third attempt was able to steer to the curb and throw the truck into park to stop. thankfully, there were no kids in his path. he would not have been able to stop and his life would be altered forever. not to mention our lives and that of an innocent bystander/ child. looking online to see if there have been problems reported, we found the nhtsa has an investigation on this gmc trucks and suv?s. the brakes on this truck were done between 70,000 and 80,000. all pads were replaced, 2 new rotors and 2 rotors were cut. no mention of brake line deterioration, corrosion, or visible problems were brought to our attention at that time. this vehicle is used mainly by my husband who drives it 6 miles one way to work daily. no problems, squeaking, or pedal changes had been noted. we were all really quite shaken by this incident. we had it towed to a dealership for repair. it went there during the labor day holiday thus delaying the repair. we were informed that the brake lines had rotted out. any information or direction will be greatly appreciated. *tr .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 99000 miles. Gmc Sierra 1500 2003 Service Brakes Review #10534168 GMC SIERRA 1500 2003 car safety problem was reported on Aug 07, 2013.GMC SIERRA 1500 2003, manufactured by General Motors LLC had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . a vehicle pulled out in front of my son last night on his way to a boy scout meeting. the speed limit was 45. my son hit the brakes which locked up then let loose. pedal went to the floor . he avoided hitting the car that pulled out on him and when i arrived found that the metal brake line running along the frame had ruptured as it bent to go across the frame behind the cab. this truck has only 70,000 miles on it and this is a premature failure due to premature rust. i own and 1971 dodge dart and a 1978 pontiac firebird with original metal brake lines on both with no rust on lines at all and i live in ohio and they are driven in the winter. i feel fortunate my son and no one else was injured due to the catastrophic failure of the gm metal brake line. hope others will be just as fortunate. toyota was forced into a recall of there truck line due to premature rusting problems and gm should be made to follow suite. these vehicles are accidents waiting to happen. i also own a 1994 gmc c2500 suburban that has no visible rust on the brake lines either with 170,000 miles that i have owned for 15 years. . the 2003 gmc chassis is truly sub standard to say the least. please look into these issues i have read the forums out there and i know i am not alone. thanks. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 70500 miles. Gmc Sierra 1500 2003 Service Brakes Review #10547499 GMC SIERRA 1500 2003 car safety problem was reported on Sept 12, 2013.GMC SIERRA 1500 2003, manufactured by General Motors LLC had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . our truck was at collision shop for a repair from a hit and run in a lowe's parking lot.. when they finished, they took the truck out of the garage to take for a car wash. when pulling out of their business the truck would not stop. they pushed it back into the parking lot and restarted and tested the brakes. there were no brakes. they looked under the truck and saw the brake fluid flowing out on the ground. we had the truck towed to our mechanic and one of the lines was broke. he replaced it ($298.00). he told us the other lines were also in bad shape. we became aware that gm had a problem after seeing a television news story. we took copies of this story to our local gmc dealer, the collision shop and our mechanic. our gmc dealer said they knew nothing about this problem. on september 25, 2013 we had the remainder of the lines replaced. ($984.80). we have since encountered two additional people who have had the same problem. this truck was purchased in michigan, but we spend out winters in florida, so it has limited exposure to salt used during the winter. what scares us about this is: on the day before we took the truck to the collision shop, we were going to drive 45 miles to ann arbor, mi for a birthday party. we decided at the last minute not to go. if we had gone that day, this would have happened to us traveling on the expressway at 70 mph! this is a scary thing. to quote the news story: "gm, in a statement to 7 action news states this is 'not a safety issue' as the brakes still operate with a broken brake line and admit that rusty brake lines are a problem that 'can happen over time', presumably from liquid salt used in cold weather states. gm has a solution. the company is offering what they call a deeply discounted brake repair kit that runs $2-thousand dollars for only $500". gm needs to step up to the plate and let owners know. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 88755 miles. Gmc Sierra 1500 2003 Service Brakes Review #10750307 GMC SIERRA 1500 2003 car safety problem was reported on Aug 12, 2015.GMC SIERRA 1500 2003, manufactured by General Motors LLC had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . i was towing my 33' travel trailer with my very well maintained 2003 gmc sierra 1500 pick up truck. after a four and a half hour trip on the interstate highway doing 65 mph, i arrived at my campground. as i was backing my trailer into my camp site, my brake pedal went to the floor and my dashboard lit up with warning lights. i had complete brake failure. i put the truck in park and got out to look under the truck. right below the driver seat, brake fluid was pouring out of the brake line which had burst open. i had no brakes. thank god this happened while i was backing the trailer in at 2 mph. minutes prior to this i was going 65 mph on the highway, towing a 33' trailer. i shutter to think what could have happened if this line burst while at highway speeds. my wife and i were freaked out for days thinking about what could have happened. we had to have the truck towed to a repair shop and endure a very expensive replacement of all the brake lines, which were completely corroded. while the truck was being fixed i did some research on this problem and found that there were many, many, complaints about this exact same problem concerning 1999 - 2003 gmc and chevy pick up trucks and other models. gm claims that you would still have some brakes because there are separate brake lines to the front and rear brakes. this is true, but i lost so much fluid, so fast, i had no brakes. does someone always have to die before they force a recall? there are so many complaints on this matter and i know there is an on going investigation by the nhtsa. enough investigating, force the recall before someone dies if they haven't already. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 104816 miles. Gmc Sierra 1500 2003 Service Brakes Review #10779996 GMC SIERRA 1500 2003 car safety problem was reported on Sept 27, 2015.GMC SIERRA 1500 2003, manufactured by General Motors LLC had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . pulling to a stop in my driveway my brakes slowed the truck and then completely gave way with the pedal hitting the floor. i stomped on the emergency brake pedal to keep from hitting the porch. i am so lucky to have that happen at low speed off the road. that could have been a tragedy on the highway. turns out that my brake lines are severely rusted and one of the 2 lines coming off the master cylinder now has a pinhole leak immediately above the frame where it bends 90 degrees to go back to the abs manifold. applying the brakes just squirts fluid out of the line. i thought a single failure was supposed to result in reduced braking power, not complete loss of brakes. note that my truck is in otherwise great shape and i simply had no idea. it is clear that the nhtsa has been bamboozled by gm. brake lines are a critical life safety system, installed on and in some places in the chassis before the vehicle body and bed are attached. it is not routine maintenance to rinse the brake lines let alone replace them. gm pushing this back on the customer is complete bs. you can buy nylon coated or stainless steel brake lines for less than 100 $. the incremental cost to go from steel to something that would last the operational life of the vehicle is less than 50 $. i'm waiting on an estimate from my non-dealer shop, but a dealer charging 3600 $ is not surprising considering the amount of labor that must be involved. the nhtsa decision on the issue is unconscionable. guess it might have been different if they had run over a child at a crosswalk or if their child was mowed down by corporate greed. hopefully that never happens, but with so many rotting gm trucks on the road, we will have to keep our fingers crossed. .Mileage was 150000 miles. My GMC K1500 sometimes starts running rough. It may correct it's self or may continue running rough untill you turn it off for a while then start it up again. Sometimes it may go a month with no problem then the problem may come right back. 1998 GMC Sierra 4x4. 118,000 miles but rebuilt engine installed at 78,000 miles. Drive carefully, slow take offs, 65 to 70 mph on road, but gas mileage is 10 to 11.5 mpg. Changed air filter but no better. Tire pressure is fine. Any suggestions for 2004 GMC Envoy~~~ I have no rt or lft brake lights.(only the bar brake light at the top of the hatch.) I was told that the right one wasn't working. When I went under the seat to check the fuse I noticed that it was the only fuse that was loose, j What can i do to repair the problem i have with my wipers being intermittend thank you. I have a 2007 Yukon Denali XL and my climate control + button for the heat on the drivers side peeled off. Anyone out there having the same issue? It looks like the passengers side is doing the same.
