Volvo V70 2004 Tires SidewallVolvo V70 2004 Tires Sidewall Review #10056722 VOLVO V70 2004 car safety problem was reported on Dec 18, 2003.VOLVO V70 2004, manufactured by Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC had a problem with TIRES:SIDEWALL . the front tire on my volvo v70 developed a crack on the side wall by the wheel rim under normal usage conditions less than a month after i bought the car. i took the car back to smythe volvo of san jose where the purchase was made. the sales manager, michael, refused to address the problem or even take a look at my car, and initiated a challenge for me to sue volvo. the service manager initially promised to look into resolving the problem for me with volvo corporate, but ultimately fell thru. i escalated the issue all the way up to the ceo of volvo north america, and they said that they don't cover the tire under the warranty. the tire manufacturer, pirelli, has also refused service so far. the problem is with the design of the tire. i did a brief research on the internet, and pulled up 18 pages of mostly complaints from other volvo and audi owners who have had similar problems with their tires. the side wall of this pirelli p6 tire develops bubbles and cracks easily if it runs into any road irregularity. i did a search on other tires of similar configuration and found no such problem. pirelli designed and manufactured the tire. volvo engineers and management choose the tire to put on its v70 wagon as an oem. now both of them are disclaiming responsibility via finger pointing and technicalities on their warranties. they have given me the usual run-arounds, and in one case, outright rude treatment.*ak.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 900 miles. Volvo V70 2004 Fuel System, Gasoline Storage Tank AssemblyVolvo V70 2004 Fuel System, Gasoline Storage Tank Assembly Review #10066252 VOLVO V70 2004 car safety problem was reported on Mar 31, 2004.VOLVO V70 2004, manufactured by Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC had a problem with FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY . my 2004 volvo v70 wagon spewed and spit gas when being filled with gasoline. when the automatic shut off from the gas pump engaged, gas from the tank and the filler line gushed and poured out of the tank. this happened on several occasions including the very first time i filled the vehicle with gas. it also occurred when i attempted to fill the gas tank slowly so that pressure would not eject gasoline from the tank. the car was brought to the dealer where it was purchased (smith co. motors - charleston, wv) for the problem to be fixed on march 31, 2004. after inspecting valves in the gas tank and fuel filler tube, the dealer contacted me to tell me no problem had been found. i asked the dealer service manager if the tank had been filled with gas to make sure gasoline did not continue to gush from the tank. the dealer then filled the tank and called to me to confirm that the problem had not been fixed. the car was then at the dealer and out of service until april 8, 2004, when a volvo representative discovered that the car had a manufacturing defect. i was told the defect was that a valve had not been installed on the car at the factory. on april 12, 2004 i returned home from work and pulled into my driveway. i left the car running in my driveway. after 1 to 2 minutes inside, i notice a strong smell of gasoline. the car had stopped running and was freely spilling gallons of gasoline into my driveway. the dealer discovered a new gas tank had not been properly installed by the service technician. i am interested in nhtsa investigating if the repeated failures of my fuel system are related. i am further interested in nhtsa determining if other 2004 volvos with similar fuel system components could have also left the factory without a completely assembled fuel system. i encountered a very serious safety problem that could have resulted in a catastrophic accident.*ak.Mileage was 100 miles. LLC. had a problem with POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT . car was damaged going over a speed bump (on public rd) at about 5 mph. there is a recall in europe to fix this problem (by removing a bracket that produced below the card and can be forced upwards damaging the exhaust and driveshaft. the recall has not been made in usa please see this weblink (that has a copy of the european recall notice) http://www.swededemon.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=385&highlight=p+n+30647428 i have copied some text from the recall below (it has pictures on the site which explains the situation well) issued for r vehicles but goes for all p2x awd models. dated january 2004. description, there have been reports about the fact that s60r and v70r vehicles can be damaged at the under side of the vehicle when driving over speed bumps. this is caused by a bracket (p/n 30647428) (see attachment) which is mounted under the vehicle. the bracket is only used for production purpose to keep the exhaust system in place and serves no other function. because of the lower ride height of the r vehicles the bracket can touch the ground in extreme situations. when the bracket touches the ground it can bend (see attachment image) and subsequently damage the exhaust system and the drive shaft (cardan). product changes, investigating if product can be changed in production. part return, no technical report, no service, volvo advises to remove the bracket when present on r vehicles during service. this to prevent future damage. remark, these brackets are present under all p2x awd vehicles. if there is a concern for problems the bracket can be removed without consequences. *jb .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 1800 miles. LLC. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . in the summer of 2004 i thought i felt my brakes freeze up, but just thought it was me, thinking "i'm in a year old volvo, there's no way that could have happened." a few months later it did happen and i took it to the dealership where they replaced the master cylinder. that was 11/19/04. on 2/28/05 i returned the vehicle to the dealership again for the same problem. this time they replaced the master cylinder and booster. then, the end of april i was getting on the highway going about 50 mph, and had to apply my brakes, and they froze up and i glided for a few seconds before they released and i was able to push down on them (this is what happened the other times.). volvo again replaced the mater cylinder and booster (and they told me they replaced another part that had to do with the pumping mechanism (?) "just in case." the car made it 4 1/2 months before it happened again. i was getting onto a highway 9/9/05, going about 60-70 mph, when the car in front of me applied his brakes. i applied mine, and for a split second they froze. i accelerated again almost immediately and then had to slow again. this time the brakes froze for about 3-4 seconds before they released and i was able to slow down. it is in the shop now and volvo assures me that this hasn't happened in a new car before. my question is: can they recall something they can't even fix??? *nm.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 15000 miles. LLC. had a problem with SEATS . on sunday, 24 january 2009, the heating element in the driver's seat in our 2004 volvo v70 somehow shorted and/or otherwise overheated, causing the seat to begin to smolder and smoke and burned small holes in the side of the leather seat cover. after the heating element was turned off, the materials in the seat appear to have been sufficiently fire retardant to keep the seat from a full-scale conflagration. we had been smelling an unexplained odor for a couple of days prior, which we now believe to have been when the overheating started. to the best of my knowledge there has never been anything done to the seat, and it is essentially if not precisely in the same state as it came from the factory in 2004. the local volvo dealer (don beyer volvo, falls church, va) on monday, 25 january 2009, found that the heating element was the problem, they disconnected the heating element to preclude a fire, said that this was the first they had heard of a problem of this type, and said that the repair (parts and labor) would be covered under our warranty (less deductible). we later on 25 january were told that the repair parts are on back-order and are expected within 7-10 days. *tr.Vehicle was on fire. Volvo V70 2004 Engine Review #10471906 VOLVO V70 2004 car safety problem was reported on June 20, 2010.VOLVO V70 2004, manufactured by Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC had a problem with ENGINE . engine stopped on freeway, in heavy traffic. wife and children in the car. exact description as in nhtsa campaign i.d. 07v226000. dealer (carlsen volvo, palo alto, ca), claimed the car had no indication of recalls on their computer, but volvo recall campaign r181 clearly states my vehicle and specific engine # 61 (6th and 7th digits in vin) were subject of recall for the specific symptoms involved. i called volvo u.s. and they gave me the same rote response, "your vehicle's vin number doesn't show up as being included in r181". this is patently false. according to the recall, carlsen volvo should have replaced the fuel pressure sensor free. instead, over the course of 2years and multiple visits to the dealer, they never properly diagnosed nor repaired the problem. when your engine stalls in heavy traffic at freeway speeds, you and your passengers are at severe risk! i want my free repair from volvo! i know i'm not the only v70 owner who has been lied to in this specific way by volvo and their dealers. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 50000 miles. Volvo V70 2004 Electrical SystemVolvo V70 2004 Electrical System Review #10476797 VOLVO V70 2004 car safety problem was reported on Sept 23, 2012.VOLVO V70 2004, manufactured by Volvo Cars of N.A., LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . pulled into a parking spot on the street, put the car in park, but was unable to turn the key to turn the car off. it took me almost 20 minutes of jiggling the key around and spraying wd40 into the ignition cylinder before being able to very slowly get the key to turn enough to turn the car off. i am not a weak person and was honestly afraid that the amount of pressure i was applying was going to cause the key to break off in the ignition. i immediately took the car to the nearest volvo dealer (cherry hill, nj) and since this happened on a sunday morning, i had to leave the keys with an explanation of the problem on a dropbox form. when i called the service dept today, they told me that they would have to custom order a replacement part from sweden and that it could be a week before my car is repaired. the service person said that this sometimes happens when people attach a large amount of keys to their car key and it causes stress on the ignition cylinder. i have never, ever done that. i always keep my car and house keys separate for safety purposes, so there is no reason this should have happened. after looking for more info on the internet, it appears as though this happens on a fairly regular basis with other owners. i am the original owner of this car and am religious about keeping it in good running order with routine, scheduled maintenance. failure to be able to shut a car off without any prior warning should certainly be considered a safety issue. thanks. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 112000 miles. Having fuel delivery issues, car will not maintain idle and pedal does not work. I have replaced both fuel pumps, coil, wires, cap and rotor, plugs, throttle position sensor. Just ordered mass air flow sensor. Whats next fuel injectors? can the hydraulic clutch on a 2007 vn610 be adjusted? My vovlo s70 1998 lost power going 40mph and then will start right back up. I just bought a 2001 Volvo C70 convertible 113,000 miles - no warranty - it started bucking a bit - I took it for an oil change and they wouldn't do it because the dipstick top came right off and the dipstick is stuck inside so he said he couldn't a/c compressor runs for about 30n seconds after start up then shuts down . 2002 volvo vhd Is it good to buy the Volvo CX60?
