Hyundai Elantra 2006 Exterior LightingHyundai Elantra 2006 Exterior Lighting Review #10521682 HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2006 car safety problem was reported on June 24, 2013.HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2006, manufactured by Hyundai Motor Company had a problem with EXTERIOR LIGHTING . i was unknowingly driving around without any working brake lights for who knows how long! after finding no problems with the fuses, i looked online and found that there had been a recall on certain models (elantra included) from 2005-08. i called my dealership and they confirmed the recall, said bring it in the next day and they could replace the faulty equipment. after being surprised by a bill, the service consultant explained that there were only certain cars which were affected and my vin wasn't on the list of those affected. he told me that i could call hyundai consumer affairs and talk to them about getting the costs covered--he had seen that happen before. i called the number and was told that although cars from 2005-2008 were on the recall list, my vin wasn't on the list and, therefore, would not be covered. i mentioned how i thought that perhaps they should look a bit deeper into this problem because obviously more cars from that time period than just those on that current list of affected cars according to vin were experiencing identical problems and were made in that time frame! he went on to say that the best he could do would be to make note of my call/complain/concern. i truly believe that my car is affected by the recall on the brake lamp switch and they need to extend the current recall to cover more cars within that same time frame that are experiencing the same issue. i am so lucky that my friend noticed it was my car and called me to say that i had no brake lights working; otherwise, i would still be driving around completely ignorant to the fact that i had no brake lights! i am so lucky that i wasn't in an accident and i'm sure there are more people out there who have the same problem as me and are driving around without any brake lights illuminating and they may cause an accident. something needs to be done! thank you. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 88500 miles. Hyundai Elantra 2006 Air BagsHyundai Elantra 2006 Air Bags Review #10678772 HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2006 car safety problem was reported on Dec 01, 2014.HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2006, manufactured by Hyundai Motor America had a problem with AIR BAGS . prior to this date had issues with electrical such as back lighting of stereo and ash tray, cd player malfunctioning past few years, more recently odometer back light also does not light. previous report of passenger side air bag lighting intermittently when nobody was sitting in seat, or if purse on seat, less than 10 lbs. then at about 206,000 miles, my estimate driver instrument panel air bag light indicator on first some times, then shortly after on all the time. after reading numerous other complaints and seeing years prior and post my 2006 had recalls as did other similar cars and that airbags failed, i am very concerned. hyundai seems to have excessive electrical problems reported and a spontaneous electrical fire is a main concern. i had my stop lamp switch replaced by dealership several years ago after a recall. the replacement should have been free however, i was told that it was only and advisory and not a recall and was made to pay $50 to replace the $7.00 stop lamp switch part. i later went online and discovered that indeed it was a recall and the dealership had scammed me by charging labor to replace the switch. i believe these vehicles are a danger, especially since there may also be issues with cruise control by stop lamp, and i am not certain with several years and miles driving that the replacement part is still functioning properly. i would strongly recommend immediate recall of 2006 & a design change with ample testing to prove these imports are not cutting corners again. i was considering another, such as a toyota, however the recalls on toyota and deaths have made me cautious of their quality as well. if airbags are mandated by you then their repair when obviously defective should rest on the manufacturers. owned 2 2003 lancers 2.0l and were totaled, one rollover one front deer collision. vehicle body safe but no airbags deployed either vehicle..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 206000 miles. I also own and drive a Hyundai. thanks Bill Finn I had a problem with stability control in a 2010 AWD hyundai Tuscon in windy conditions. I was driving on a straight stretch of road in New Mexico and with gusts of wind the car tilted onto  the 2 right wheels.  I was so shaken I pulled off the 2010 Santa Fe Limited alternator failed within 2000 km of new. Are there any service bulletins out on this? I have a 2006 Sonata 2.4 which frequently fails to start on first attempt and appears to be getting more frequent. In addition the fule consumption averages about 13 l/100km. Low revs are sometimes uneven and 1st gear pull off shudder is frequentl hyundai 3500 generator ,no gas going to sparkplug sounds like clutch, i believe you need to change it!
