GMC ACADIA 2010 car safety problem was reported on May 19, 2012.GMC ACADIA 2010, manufactured by GENERAL MOTORS LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . the main battery cable running from the battery located behind the passager's seat was resting on a bolt from the frame. the threads from the bolt cut through the battery cable and shorted out the electrical system causing the floor matting to catch fire while the vehicle was in motion. the engine shut down, causing a loss of power steering and brakes. since it was the main battery cable the connects directly to the battery with no fuse, the short continued to spark. in the particual vehicle the battery is located inside the vehicle, below the passager side rear floor. the positive battery cable runs from there to inside the engine compartment to the alternator, with no fuse in between. i took the vehicle to the dealer and they said it was not a warranty issue. i raised the question with them about a recall and got no where. i did some searches on gmc blog sites and this issue has happened on a number of other vehicles, one leading to a wreck. luckily i was at a stop light turning when it happened to me. if this would have happened on a freeway at freeway speeds, the story could have been much worse. *tt.Vehicle was on fire. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 49458 miles. GMC ACADIA 2010 car safety problem was reported on Jan 15, 2010.GMC ACADIA 2010, manufactured by GENERAL MOTORS LLC had a problem with TIRES . within a month after buying our 2010 gmc acadia the front right tire was continually going flat. we were constantly refilling the air on a weekly basis. took the car into the dealership to have it looked st and the couldn't find anything wrong with it on more than one occasion. we used fix a flat and continued to refill air and it has gone longer periods without going flat although tire is constantly low. took the car in to dealership july 2012 to have oil changed and serviced with tire rotation etc. when i was driving home with 3 of my kids in the car, going 65-70 on the freeway the car started shaking. it wasn't the steering wheel but the whole car itself. it felt like one of the tires was going to fall off or the engine was going to fall out of the car. i checked the tire pressure and the psi to that tire was the same as what it was before i dropped it off for service, so the dealership didn't fill the tires but i knew i didn't have a flat tire either. i took the car straight back to the dealership on my way to work in the morning. they told me that the tread was separating from the tire and i needed a new tire. i think it should be covered under warranty as this had been an ongoing problem since we bought the car and have complained to the dealership multiple times. just because they couldn't fond the problem before doesn't mean there wasn't a problem before. *tr.Gmc Acadia 2010 problem was reported in PITTSBURG, CA. GMC ACADIA 2010 car safety problem was reported on Nov 15, 2012.GMC ACADIA 2010, manufactured by General Motors LLC had a problem with STEERING . starting slowly and intermittently when making a hard turn to the left from a standing start, power steering lost. this was particularly dangerous when turning into or across oncoming traffic as turning radius truncated and correction ("recovery") became very difficult. subsequently frequency of occurrence increased and included hard turns to the right. checked for tsb/recall. tsb(technical service bulletin) found. followed recommendation to flush and exchange change power steering fluid. this resulted in correction for a short period of time after which steering intermittently lost with very sluggish steering. flushed and exchanged power steering fluid for a second time and filled to 1/4 inch above tank full line as some recommended on a tsb website. unfortunately the power steering failure returned, again intermittently but with increase frequency. there were several near accidents because of the steering fail. manufacturer/ dealership contacted. the only advice was follow the tsb instructions. because in my mind and based on my experience with the intermittent and unpredictable power steering failures that have occurred a complete overhaul of the power steering system, as well as rack & pinions as directed in the tsb will be undertaken in three days. in my opinion having done some research regarding this problem which apparently has occurred in a number of acadia as well as similar models in the gm family which i understand have had recalls, the acadia power steering issue deserves immediate nhtsb investigation. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 90000 miles. GMC ACADIA 2010 car safety problem was reported on Apr 17, 2013.GMC ACADIA 2010, manufactured by General Motors LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . i've been having issues with the a/c unit, i try to turn it on and all that it does is flash 3 times and then it goes back to off, it doesn't cool at all. i tried to research the problem in the internet and at the gmc website and it seems that is been a huge issue since 2007 for this model! i called the dealer and although they know what the problem is they insist in charge me $100 to connect it and troubleshoot it even though they know the issue. they are charging between $ 1200 and $2000 to "fix" a known problem. this problem is causing that my cd player gets hot while is playing the cd and eject them from the system. please i need you to research and help out with this issue. they say that is a issue with low or leaking cooling system and that it needs freon or that is the hvac system, but is the same excuse to hundreds of customers, some of whom decided to just run the vehicle without a/c during hot summers. because of all my medical issues, i can't have the " luxury" of not having the a/c broken, nor i have the money to pay for something that is giving so many people so much problems! thanks *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 73378 miles. GMC ACADIA 2010 car safety problem was reported on Feb 14, 2014.GMC ACADIA 2010, manufactured by General Motors LLC had a problem with STEERING . potential safety issue - while approaching a traffic light with the intention of turning left, i slowed down to a suitable speed to negotiate the turn. suddenly the steering was very heavy and required extreme force to get the vehicle to navigate the turn. after this incident i noticed that the steering was extremely heavy at low rpm. if it had been a less experienced driver behind the wheel, or if the driver were to panic i believe the outcome of this failure could be more serious. a panicked driver might hit the gas and crash into the traffic stopped at the light coming from the other direction, or stop in the middle of traffic flow in a no-filter left turn junction. the solution was to replace the power steering pump, and judging by the number of others that have experienced this issue it is a true defect with this car. i believe the solution for this issue is to replace the power steering pump with a know reliable model. another solution would be to implement a monitoring system to detect a failing pump. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 50000 miles. GMC ACADIA 2010 car safety problem was reported on July 19, 2013.GMC ACADIA 2010, manufactured by General Motors LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . ignition switch -- we bought our 2010 gmc acadia from the fort worth federal community credit union in 2012. sometime in september 2013 we were on i-35w freeway driving from fort worth, texas to oklahoma. the speed was between 65-68 mph. suddenly, the acadia lost all power. i yelled ?what the hell!!? the rpms dropped drastically and the speedometer went down to the low 20s. i had no power steering. i did not turn off the key. i engaged my emergency flashers. with great strength managed to steer the acadia unto the emergency shoulder. while the car was coasting the engine cranked up again and speed increased to normal. i told my wife that maybe the engine ?vapor? locked. we discussed returning to fort worth but decided to continue thinking it was a ?vapor? lock. the acadia ran well to oklahoma and back home. it did not do it after that on the freeway. we noticed however that when slowing to about 5-10 mph to enter our driveway or other entrances, the power steering became very hard and difficult to control on several occasions. this problem occurred way before we had even heard of ?ignition switch? issues. the ignition switch has never been diagnosed as we did not think it was a problem at the time. had my wife been driving by herself, she would have panicked if she lost power on the freeway and was unable to control the vehicle to guide it out of traffic into a safe area from the heavily traffic freeway. will my car be in the recall for ignition switch.. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 130000 miles. GMC ACADIA 2010 car safety problem was reported on May 13, 2014.GMC ACADIA 2010, manufactured by General Motors LLC had a problem with STEERING . driving into a small downtown area to meet some friends and heard a whirling noise coming from under the hood (belt, bearing or power steering). as i slowed down the noise intensified, dissipated as i sped up. notice the steering was tighter and more difficult to turn the steering wheel at slower speeds. the next day i attempted to "check the fluid" secured under the engine cover but was unable to remove it even with the star bit required. i then google'd auto-steering for acadia and found numerous issues related to failing power steering units. took it to the dealer frustrated after finding that this is not an isolated part failure. he stated that the bellow was leaking due to a failure (the power steering is under a lot of pressure i was told) and it needed to be replaced. the dealership completed the repair after keeping the car a day. seems to me this is a potential ticking time bomb and the part may have been under engineered. i have been a long time gm customer but with all the current press i'm not sure i can support them any longer with my patronage. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 72000 miles.
