I bought a used 2008 CX-9, under 80K miles - automatic ...

I bought a used 2008 CX-9, under 80K miles - automatic transmission stutters when accelerating and then take the foot off of the gas - and feels like it shifts into a higher gear too soon. Highway driving though, no problems, mainly just in-town driving that I'm having those issues. A tranny shop guy today told me that those cars have valve body problems. Gosh, is this true? I don't see any blogs where it appears they have major valve body problems...any ideas?
