In Oct 2011 I
purchased a used 2010 Ford Fusion Se with 25,429 miles on it from a dealership
in Goshen NY. Mostly all of my travelling is done on the highway, so it has accumulated
77,624 miles. Yesterday while driving on the highway I attempted to brake and
much to my surprise the car kept moving. I literally had to push my back
against the seat using all of my body weight to press down on the brake before
the car stopped. I had my mechanic Bill Leahy in Piermont New York who has
worked on several on my cars over the years, take a look at it.Having been highly
acknowledged by several major car manufacturers, automotive dealerships and
private individuals throughout New York State, as being a true master mechanic
in a class by himself, Bill diagnosed the problem with precise accuracy. He
said the brake power booster had failed and needed to be replaced. He also
mentioned that based on his many years of experience that it was very unusual
for the part to go bad in such a short period of time. I got curious and began
to make calls to Dealerships and Auto Supply stores in about a 100 mile radius
and discovered that the consensus was the same. Everyone I spoke to said that
they never had to order a brake power booster for a two year old vehicle. One
individual even suggested that the part was probably bad from the very beginning.
Has anyone had this problem or do you know anyone else who has had this
problem? Also what is the possibility that this part could still be under
warranty? I spoke to the service representative where I purchased the vehicle,
and they said that it wasn’t. I still find that hard to believe. I would really
appreciate a response from anyone. Thank you.
