Suzuki Reno 2006 Power Train Automatic Transmission Review #10286561

SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on Sept 21, 2009.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP. had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . own a 06 reno with 50k miles on it. just recently while driving in average normal traffic about 45 to 50 mph the transmission indicator would start flashing and the mil light would come on. during this time any change in prndl would cause loud and harsh shifting as well as severely decreased acceleration ability, almost as if it was flooding. eventually the mil light would go off or stay on and transmission function would return to normal. this would only last maybe a few hours and then whole scenario would repeat itself. my research has led me to believe it is the transmission range sensor. a problem a lot of reno owners seem to be experiencing. this is potentially a dangerous situation if for example you come to a stop just before trying to merge into highway traffic and your transmission suddenly starts malfunctioning and your ability to accelerate suddenly disappears. i am in the process of taking it into the dealer for other recall work and inspection. *tr.Mileage was 50000 miles. Suzuki Reno 2006 Power Train Automatic Transmission Review #10295077

SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on Sept 17, 2009.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP. had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . i have a 2006, reno with around 52k miles on it. in trying to go up a small hill, the car started to lose it's ability to accelerate. once i reached the top it was better, but then indicated on the dashboard a d with a slash through it. my car then would still have difficulty accelerating. in coming to a stop then trying to accelerate to turn a corner it continued to have difficulty accelerating. the car then begins to lose power. the check engine light would come on and stay on. it would then go off and within a few days come right back on. before the check engine light would come on, the car would jolt then have the override (d with a slash) on the dashboard. i then have to place the car on park (each gear giving a jolt to the car), turn it off and then restart the car to hope it accelerates like it should. i am told the transmission range sensor is the problem. it occurs at least once a week, and sometimes once every two weeks if the car is acting the way it should. this is ridiculous. i have almost been hit once and had to pray i would make it to the side of the merge lane on the highway another time since the car would not accelerate properly while trying to merge. i am taking it to get repaired/replaced and hope it doesn't occur again. *tr.Mileage was 52000 miles. Suzuki Reno 2006 Power Train Review #10360970

SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on Oct 15, 2010.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP. had a problem with POWER TRAIN . repeated failure of the transmission range sensor affecting acceleration and transmission response while stopping/starting and steady driving. when the vehicle is taken out of park and placed in any forwards gears or reverse, the transmission makes a loud "bang" sound and jerks. when accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle takes at least a mile to reach highway speed and when stopping it seems as if the transmission remains completely in gear and does not allow the vehicle to slow down correctly. no parts have been replaced at this time as the manufacturer sees this item as not being part of the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, and some ball park estimates to have the delaer replace this part is over 300.00 this has been happening for over 2 months now, and the problems surfaces at least 3 times per week. after driving the vehicle back home and letting it sit for a while, the cel (check engine light) turns itself off and the transmission seems to do fine. the first occurance of it this weekend happened while driving 70+ mph on an interstate highway and caused the vehicle to jerk when the gears suddenly changed. *tr.Mileage was 98000 miles. Suzuki Reno 2006 problem was reported in HAMPSTEAD, NC. Vehicle was not using ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. Vehicle was not using Cruise Control. VEHICLE SPEED: 55 mph.

SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on Oct 01, 2006.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP. had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . the car while driving feels like it jerks out of gear for a few seconds into neutral. when it jerks, the gas pedal doesn't work. i lose acceleration. this is dangerous because i could get rear-ended when losing speed so fast. when it does this at least 5 or six times during a trip. we took the car for diagnostic at goss suzuki but they couldn't get an error code to find the cause. they said it might be the transmission range switch. they said they couldn't fix anything until they knew exactly the cause. now the engine light came on and the car is worse. i was at atm today (11/4/2010) when i was about to drive off, the car was in drive, but the car wouldn't move when i pressed the gas. it was like the car was still in park. i had to put the car back in park, turn the car off/on then put it back in drive for it to start moving. i took it to autozone to check the codes and it was p0700/p0705. those are problem codes for transmission range sensor. the car only has about 53,700 miles on it. this is too soon for a car to be having problems. this is a big safety issue because this can cause car accidents from the car malfunctioning while driving. *tr.Mileage was 53700 miles. SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on July 07, 2011.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP. had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . while driving up a hill or accelerating from a stop, the car feels like it slips into neutral and the rpms race. if i let up from the accelerator for a few seconds it will resume normal driving. mechanic suggests it is either the transmission range sensor or the clutch piston. this is very dangerous as i lose speed rapidly and the roads i travel most do not have enough shoulder to pull over safely. nearest suzuki repair shop is over an hour away and i don't feel safe in trying to drive it that far. they told me it would not be covered by the 100,000 mile warranty. other issues with this car: in 2 years i have replace all headlight bulbs 4 times, brakes replaced, and paint is wearing off handles. the transmission is 'sealed' so that the average person/repair shop can't work on them or even check the transmission fluid level (no dip stick). *kb.Mileage was 68556 miles. SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on Mar 18, 2010.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP. had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING . my wife has bought this car brand new and seems like its going to be on its third trans and it only has 67000 miles on it. the cars engine lite comes on steady and drives fine for a little bit but after a while the light starts flashing and the car idles rough, goes 0-60 in christmas to next thanksgiving then will not shift correctly. it feels like it is taking off in third gear every time. when it finally gets going it shifts in the 5-7000 rpm range. we have taken it to the shop the first time and they said it was a sensor. they changed the sensor and still the same so they changed the trans at only under 30000 miles. two days later and 12 miles down the road, the same thing occurs. we took it back to the dealer and they said there is nothing wrong with the car and that we will have to drive it. i have tried to email other dealers and noone will touch it. now it is doing the same exact thing except the car will just not hardly move. it seems to be fouling out the plugs. i pulled them and they are all covered in fuel. it now feels like its the timing belt that slipped a tooth. suzuki should stick with making bikes and not cars and maybe have better customer assistance. i am at lost for words or knowledge as to what to do. i feel that we shouldn't have to pay for repairs on something that should be recalled most definitely. it is highly dangerous and shouldn't be on the road. there has been instances where im about to turn left and the car looses power half way through the turn. please do something about this death trap. my wife totes around other kids in this car for her job. thank you *tr.Mileage was 30000 miles. SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on July 03, 2012.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP. had a problem with ENGINE . was driving on i40 to wilmington, nc from raleigh, nc. i stopped to get gas when i was about 30 minutes away from wilmington. i noticed my dashboard looked like it was jumpy. all the gauge lines were going back and forth. but it lasted only seconds and really i thought...did that really happen. i got back on the road because the car was driving perfectly fine. once i got into wilmington, the car started smoking from under the hood, the gauges were going crazy. the gauges were just going back and forth and back and forth like they were possessed! the car stalled, i got it off the road as best as possible, raised the hood and small flames were coming out. i took a towel and through it over the motor and it killed the flames. check oil, it was fine, had plenty of gas. my dad said it looks like it had an electrical failure and then the fan went out and caused the car to over heat and it blew a head gasket. not sure why it would have had an electrical failure. the car is parked now because i do not have money to fix it. has anyone else had this kind of problem? *tr.Vehicle was on fire. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 89000 miles. Suzuki Reno 2006 Power Train

Suzuki Reno 2006 Power Train Review #10480629

SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on Nov 15, 2008.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP. had a problem with POWER TRAIN . intermittent issue with the check engine light coming on and the rpms would reach higher points even while idling. during normal drives the unit would start revving when it was to switching over to another gear and after the issue the check engine light comes on and the car has problems accelerating. sometimes on start up a similar issue appears and after the revving ends it slowly goes back to normal rpms but having a hard time accelerating. we've taking it to the dealership and they've replaced parts and have held the vehicle plenty of times to fix the issue but it goes away and comes right back. each time we've brought it in it either goes away from a reset and never comes back or goes away before they can inspect it. occasionally we were capable of bringing the car with the issue and the error code differentiates from one another. each time they've said they have fixed the car but it comes back up. now we're at a loss as the extended warranty we purchased has expired and we can no longer afford to spend more money on this vehicle. we've searched countless records online with others stating the same issue. we've brought this vehicle to third party mechanics to see what they can find but no one will touch the vehicle. the dealership local to us has all the records of it and can provide them. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 15000 miles. SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on Nov 21, 2012.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP. had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . for several weeks my car has been clunking into reverse and drive and getting stuck in 3rd gear while driving. i went to suzuki and bought the transmission range sensor which is what is faulty. the suzuki dealer was really surprised that we had 71000 miles on the car and had not had a problem yet (they know its a problem) i have not had a chance to change the sensor yet but my wife was driving the car today and when put into reverse the car went forward instead. luckily there was only a curb that she hit but she could have hit a car or a person. she had to stop somewhere on the way home and had another problem in another parking lot where she shifted into reverse and instead of going forward the car shot out of the stall without her even touching the gas pedal. again she did not hit anyone but how long will suzuki let this happen before someone is killed. also when the car gets stuck in 3rd gear it is very dangerous to pull out onto a road as you can barely accelerate fast enough to avoid oncoming traffic. the sensor will be replaced tonight when i get home but these cars should not be having these problems and according to the mechanics at suzuki they see this problem all the time. i understand that parts break and cars have to be repaired, but this is something that is so poorly engineered that it is putting the occupants in the car as well as other people in danger. some people have had to replace their trs over 7 times and suzuki has yet to issue a recall. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 71000 miles. Suzuki Reno 2006 Engine Review #10542861

SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on July 16, 2012.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. had a problem with ENGINE . the check engine came on, and i had a diagnostic done. it showed one o2 sensor was not good. it was replaced. after one week the light came on again, and another sensor needed to be replaced. about two weeks later, the light came on again, and the test showed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. this was replaced. two months later the light came on again, and it shows that both the o2 sensor and catalytic converter need to be replaced. nonetheless, the car passed the emissions test, but the light is still on, and the diagnostics still read the same; the o2 sensor and catalytic converter need to be replaced. the acceleration now has problems. sometimes, the car will hit 3-4 rpm while the acceleration is at 40 mph and will not go higher. sometimes, i have to pull over because a "burning rubber smell" is emitted from the engine and comes into the car through the vents. the mileage now is about 96500. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):KL5JD66Z76K. SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on Apr 09, 2010.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. had a problem with AIR BAGS . my 2006 reno has had airbag light on all the time for years . it has been reset multiple times , only to come on again . what's entirely wrong with the current airbag recall that the nhtsa is currently having is the fact suzuki ( gm ) is trying to say it only effects grand vitara's and sx4's . i beg to differ . this company new all along the airbag problem existed , just check some of the old suzuki problem bulletins 4&5 years ago . and it's not only 290,000 vehicles and/or only 2 models . this recall should absolutely be increased to cover reno's , forenza's etc; . these companies don't buy separate airbag components , they buy bulk ( its just cost effective .) any fifth grader knows that . again this recall needs to be looked into much further then 2 vehicles . and now with all the dealers gone you have no recourse to solve their inferior components problem , so once again the working man takes the hit ! fyi , rich people weren't buying these cars hard working people were ! *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 40000 miles. Suzuki Reno 2006 Unknown Or Other Review #10630946

SUZUKI RENO 2006 car safety problem was reported on Feb 19, 2014.SUZUKI RENO 2006, manufactured by Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. had a problem with UNKNOWN OR OTHER . i bought my car in early feb, 2014, and i am already having problems with it. i bought my car from jack maxton, and was told when i bought it that it recently had brake/tire/system work done, but they refused to let me keep a copy of the bill for said work. when showed the car, there were dents and scratches on the car, but i was told the car had not been in any accidents. when i recently used carfax to check the history of the car, it had 15 reports on it. jack maxton also sold me insurance for my car, which i was told would cover nearly bumper to bumper, but it so far hasn't covered anything that has gone wrong with the car. starting this summer, i had to replace one of my tires because it was dryrotted and about to explode. the other tires are dryrotting as well, and are certainly not new like i was told. the brakes squeak when go to use them, i've already had to balance the car, and the back alignment is completely out. my check engine light came on in late june, and after getting a diagnostic, i was told it was a sensor. when looking online to order the part (since the insurance doesn't cover that either), i learned that i also needed to replace the throttle body. i called up suzuki to double check, and they confirmed it. suzuki also told me that they had stopped making that part altogether, even though the car model is 8 yrs old. because the sensor or part is bad, i fear when i drive over 55 mph because at times the car will stop accelerating (almost like i went on cruise control, which my car does not have), and i have to let off the gas and reapply the gas to get my car to go faster. in may, i recieved/heard the recall notice for my car. i got a letter in june from suzuki that they still did not have the part for my car, and would send a letter when they got it. i still have not gotten the new letter..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):KL5JD66Z46K. Suzuki Reno 2006 problem was reported in COLUMBUS, OH. Vehicle was not using ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. Vehicle was not using Cruise Control.
