Pontiac Trans Sport Other Safety Report | May 14, 2005
Reported on May 14, 2005
WHEN I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT LESSS THEN 25 AND HIT A BUMP THE SPARE TIRE BECAME DISENGAED FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF MY VAN. THE CABLE THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE CENTER CAP THAT WAS USED TO SECURE THE TIRE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF MY VAN HAD RUSTED THROUGH. THE TIRE BOUNCED ON THE ROAD AND CAMME TO REST IN THE STREET AND BECAME AN OBSTACALE TO ON COMING TRAFFIC, ONE VEHICLE HAD TO MAKE AN ABRUPT STOP. IF THE SPARE HAD DISENGAGED ON THE EXPRESSWAY IT WOULD HAVE CREATED A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF FATAL CONSEQUENCES. I CONTACTED THE PONTIAC CUSTOMER ASSITANCE CENTER ON TWO OCASSIONS AND WAS TOLD THAT SOMEOONE WOULD GET BACK TO ME BUT HAVE NOT HAD ANY REPONSE. THE DEFECT HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED TO DATE. *NM | |
