my 2004 pontica vibe steering wheel vibrates or shakes when going 70 mph or above. It's not the tires or wheels, and suggestions? I think it may have to do with the brakes. I have a 2001 Pontiac bonneville I have checked the struts and ball joints and cv joints and can't seem to find out why the front of the car vibrates when I'm turning to the right and when the front shocks compress going down the highway. And the Wheh I get up to 65 MPH my 2001 Bonneville shakes. It also makes a faint knocking sound at times during take off or stopping or turning. I have had replaced the inner and outter rods, strut barings, axels, wheel barings, new tires, balance rota I own a 2002 Pontiac Firebird convertible that I bought used in 2006 with less than 30,000 miles on it and in excellent condition inside and out.As of todays date it has less than 89,000 miles on it. I've had to replace the brake pads on the rear, Extremely hard downshifts when slowing down to stop. so severe the tires slid as you come to a stop.
