Pontiac Grand Prix Structure Body Door Hinge And Attachments Safety Report | Feb 15, 2005
Reported on Feb 15, 2005
I HAVE A 2003 GRAND PRIX SE AND ON 2/15/05, I WENT TO OPEN THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR AND THE HINGE AND SPRING FELL TO THE GROUND. IT'S THE RIVET END OF THE DETENT THAT SNAPPED OFF. I CONTACTED PONTIAC VIA EMAILS AND THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT MY DEALER. I DID AND THEY TOLD ME THE PART COSTS $48.20 PLUS TAX WHICH EQUALED $50.91. MY QUESTION HERE CONCERNS THE SAFETY OF THIS CAR IF PIECES FALL OFF THAT SHOULD LAST THE LIFETIME OF A CAR. AS LONG AS I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE 4/17/04, THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENTS OR ANYTHING TO MAKE THIS PIECE BREAK OFF. ARE THERE RECALLS FOR THIS? I HAVE LOOKED AND NO IS THAT ANSWER. I DON'T FEEL THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THIS PART AS WE FEEL THIS IS SOME KIND OF RECALL THAT SHOULD BE PUT IN PLACE. I APPRECIATE YOU LOOKING INTO THIS AS WHO KNOWS, MAYBE NEXT TIME THE DOOR WILL JUST OPEN UP IN TRAFFIC OR SOMETHING. THANK YOU. *JB | |
