Pontiac Grand Am Exterior Lighting Tail Lights Safety Report | Nov 13, 2006

Reported on Nov 13, 2006

I OWN A 1999 PONTIAC GRAND AM AND HAVE NOTICED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT BULBS CREATE ENOUGH HEAT AT THE CONTACT POINT TO MELT THE PLASTIC HOUSING OF THE BULB BASE OVER APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS. THE RESULTANT MELTED PLASTIC EVENTUALLY BRAKES THE CONTACT AND COATS THE METAL AT THE BULB BASE WITH PLASTIC MAKING THE BULB USELESS AND NONFUNCTIONAL. *JB
