LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004 car safety problem was reported on Nov 24, 2007.LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004, manufactured by LAND ROVER had a problem with EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL . first occurrence - driving in residential neighborhood about 10-15mph. my 2003 rr made a big clunking noise then immediately followed and awful screeching noise. i was unable to drive, truck instantly stopped and screen stated put in neutral. i was stranded on side of road waiting for a tow truck with my 3 children, the youngest was 4 months. second occurrence - less than 1 year later, i was on vacation in cleveland ohio thanksgiving time. driving about 30 mph and the same exact noise happened and instantly the truck stopped, i knew exactly what it was. it was 11:30 pm, i called my insurance company and there were no tow companies open. finally someone came to assist me and pushed my 7000lb truck into an empty lot until the next day. when the help arrived they parked about 3 feet behind my truck, not knowing the truck was not safe in park my truck drifted back and hit his new bmw truck. both times the differential went up i had to pay for it! over $2500 both times not to mention the cost to tow my truck back to md from ohio $1600. i must say that when my truck arrived at the shop all of the mechanics knew about the issue with rr's and their differentials. this is so sad, there is no warning it just happens. i expected so much more from range rover, the name to me means quality but this vehicle has not lived up to its name. not to mention that the company has not acknowledged that this is a common issue with these vehicles and they still will not take ownership of this defect. there are many more stories like this, coincidental as it seems my good friend with a 2004 rr differential went up the same day as mine, luckily she was still covered under warranty. *tr .Land Rover Range Rover 2004 problem was reported in RANDALLSTOWN, MD. LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004 car safety problem was reported on May 25, 2008.LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004, manufactured by LAND ROVER had a problem with EQUIPMENT . check engine light , ticking engine, antifreeze , oil leak, smelling coolant inside car and numerous other issues such as window regulator , wiper motor and rattling noises underneath car has been my complaints since feb 13,2008. parts were replaced that didn't correct the problem of the ticking engine, coolant leaks, smell of coolant inside car,and check engine light which always comes on a couple of hours after the dealer returns my car to me. car was towed from freeway due to breakdown on the way home 15 minutes after picking car up from madison dealership for engine repair. dealership stated that this was due to an oil seal/oil plug and it was not their fault although they just finished working on the engine. i did not have my car for a total of 30 days not including the prior visits where they took almost 2 weeks to diagnose the problem. i was charged for a rental car during this period. milwaukee dealership claimed they corrected the engine problem on 3 different visits which i paid $600.00 for a timing belt which never corrected the problem along with a $100.00 deductible for using the warranty. the parts replaced on the vehicle is as follows; manifold assy. motor assy for wiper blades,window regulator,timing belt and differential front mounting which did not resolve rattling noise underneath car. milwaukee dealership has also attempted to correct these same problems with no success. the coolant leak is still apparent and the check engine light is on again. the only thing the dealership can tell me is to monitor how many times i have to replace coolant. in the mean time, they have sent me home with a car that has a check engine light on and a disappearing coolant problem. i guess they will continue giving me the runaround until my warranty expires aug 2,2008 just as many others has reported they did to them. please help!!!!! *tr.Land Rover Range Rover 2004 problem was reported in MILWAUKEE, WI. LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004 car safety problem was reported on Aug 20, 2009.LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004, manufactured by LAND ROVER had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . it started about 2 months ago after i brought my car in for a recall issue i received in the mail regarding the differentials and front drive shaft. i figure it was a good idea to have it fixed as a preventable measure. shortly after (about 2 weeks) i started noticing "trans prog error" appear on my dashboard display but it would disappear and reappear and figure if the light does not stay on it should not be an issue. than my car one day while driving on the fast lane of the highway just lost power and displayed to put car in neutral. i had to get the car towed to a repair shop. they told me that it was a sensor and that i should try a transmission fluid change first. that did not help, i continued driving for another 2 weeks with getting stuck in the middle of the highway several times at very dangerous times (ie. after 2am) with close calls, fortunately nothing happened to me but i would like to see that this does not happen to anyone else. i took the car to lr dealership repair and they told me that i needed a new transmission and transfer box among other things that would bring it to a $11-15k job. i find this ridiculous for such an expensive car that was well taken care of with 65,000 miles. i was out of warranty but a transmission should be the life of a car. please help! i would like to have a recall and/or class action suit to remedy this issue as soon as possible. *tr.Mileage was 67000 miles. LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004 car safety problem was reported on Sept 11, 2009.LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004, manufactured by LAND ROVER had a problem with EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL . the 2003 landrover freelander stalled on 2 seperate ocassions,once in an active intersection with barely missing being struck by another vehicle. the 2nd time ocurred about 4 minutes before the previous instance. additionally,the vehicle as a whole shouldn't be on the highway. to my knowledge this vehicle has never been in an accident and it's uncertain if it may be refurbished from a area where damage was such that some work and relocation presented it for sale elsewhere. the vehicle purchased at a little over 73,000 miles has been in the shop 14 times in 27 months totalling well over $10,000 in repairs. i paid $12,288 for the vehicle. intake maniifold gaskets,cylinder head gaskets, head bolts,cam bolts, the famed "coolant leak" that has coolant leaking into the engine causing it to cease up. that's the only thing that hasn't happened mechanically with this vehicle. i ride around, when it's not in the shop,with coolant in the back in case its starts to steam again. lock assemblys (2x), torque converter motor,themostat and several other issues that make it non-highway worthy. this is just mine, at the emunds.com automotive forum among the many others i visited there are hundreds of others with the same problems and are left with either, broken down sitting in the driveway, in the driveway after its last repair so miles are kept low for resale or forced to procure another vehicle or mode of transportation, or forced to continue driving it as its their only source of transportation and low resources while still paying a loan on it and an extended warranty company that you hope doesn't dance around the responsibility of paying for repairs that are obvious covered items in the warranty. finally, if it weren't bad enough to be stuck with this vehicle and not know if it will remain operable for the length of the loan,currently 48 months, i can't even rely on the vehicle to safely transport my wife and daugther. landrover mechanics can't keep these vehicles on the road. *tr.Land Rover Range Rover 2004 problem was reported in WILLINGBORO, NJ. LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004 car safety problem was reported on Jan 30, 2014.LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER 2004, manufactured by LAND ROVER had a problem with ENGINE . check engine light is on. took truck through inspection and it failed. took truck to range rover dealer, paid for diagnostic test ($120.38) and was told there was an air leak. paid $723.53 drove about 1 block and the light came on again. turned around and took truck back to dealer. they said they did something to fix the problem. the next day, the check engine light came back on. have been to the cherry hill, nj dealer 5 times, spent hours waiting and can't drive my truck because the check engine light is still on and my inspection sticker has expired. won't be going back to the cherry hill dealer. took truck to the shop recommended by the nj inspection department and was told the catalytic converter at right front weld is cracked . i have paper work to show it was still under extended warranty for 11 yrs/120,000 miles. how can this issue be resolved? please respond. thank you. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 109155 miles.
