LAND ROVER LR3 2006 car safety problem was reported on Mar 05, 2006.LAND ROVER LR3 2006, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . hello- i am not positive if this is the exact location to be sending this. i am a witness to a defect or a malfunction while driving a 5 month old 2006 land rover lr3. while driving on the highway in the mountains of colorado, my car's brakes locked up while driving around 68 mph. this caused me to skid to a complete stop on the highway. however, while coming to a stop my seat belt did not engage, causing me to hit my head and tear muscles in my back, which i had checked out at the doctor. after this happened, i was still at a complete stop on the highway not allowing me to drive or move out of the way from on coming traffic. as the state trooper phrased it, you are very lucky to be alive and not injured. after contacting land rover along with the dealer, i have not been able to solve anything. i am very worried that this could happen to someone else. i also have witnessed, items on the car which i feel need to have a recall on because of the fact the same has happened to the loaner cars as well. stated below are the areas that need to be looked at which land rover is over looking or will not give us any information on. - drivers side left passenger door, will not lock along with the other doors after using the remote lock. however, if opened the alarm will sound. - radio- keeps over heating, in which they have had to replace mine three times over the 5 month period of ownership. - seat belts not engaging. i have no reason to believe after this incident that the seat belts will engaged at all if a crash were to take place. along with other issues. please contact back as soon as possible. thank you. *nm .1 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 800 miles. LAND ROVER LR3 2006 car safety problem was reported on Nov 26, 2005.LAND ROVER LR3 2006, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . 2006 range rover / lr3 - 15 miles on vehicle. experienced rapid acceleration instead of braking three times the first time we drove the car after taking it home. could not stop the car while pushing hard on the brake with both feet. engine raced instead. it did slow down at first then lunged forward through a stop sign, then a stop light, onto a highway etc. luckily no crashes. auto dealer could not find anything wrong, neither could land rover. ordered another new vehicle, same make and model and the same thing happened! drove it 2 hours and then it would not stop fully at a stop sign. it speeded up instead and raced across a highway. returned that car also and won't buy another one. dealer did refund our money and said it was a land rover problem. my wife and i were in the car together both times. service dept. suggested i was a fault by applying the gas and brake at the same time. said the pedals are close together. this car should be recalled. i bought two of them and they both did the same thing. someone is going to be seriously injured if they don't. *jb.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 15 miles. LAND ROVER LR3 2006 car safety problem was reported on Mar 02, 2006.LAND ROVER LR3 2006, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . in jan. 2006 we bought a land rover lr3 ls, a month after we bought the car we begun having problems. the engine light warning lighted up a couple of times. the engine light warning lighted up & there was a burning smell coming from the air vents as well. we called the dealer & they said not to worry that it could wait, we insisted & finally they allowed us to bring the car into the dealer. all they said was that the compressor was dirty & that's why a burning smell came out of the vents & the engine light warning was now off & it would come back on because this was a software problem that they had become aware of & there was nothing they could do about it right now. the engine warning light came back that same day. we are afraid to drive the car & not being sure of it just being because of the software problem or if there is something really wrong with the car. we went to the dealer 3 different times, first have the car checked, second speak with the service manager & third with the general manager. all three visits we got the same answer a software problem & no solution. as we continued to do research about our software problem on the internet, we were astonished to find out that the engine of the lr3 v6 is a ford 4.0 & not a bmw motor as they used to be. the main reason we bought this car was because of the bmw motor the car was supposed to have. no one at the dealer ever told us that the lr3 v6 was a ford motor & the v8 was a jaguar motor eventhough we asked several times the difference between the lr3 v6 & v8. until now the engine light warning keeps coming on & off & also the burning smell comes out of the vents. the dealer does not have a fix for our problem yet. because of all the problems mentioned above we feel that there has been a fraud, the dealer has been selling these cars since the summer of 2005,in jan. LAND ROVER LR3 2006 car safety problem was reported on Aug 15, 2006.LAND ROVER LR3 2006, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with SUSPENSION . my wife owns a 2006 land rover lr3. the vehicle is less than 1 year old, and the rear tires are bald. they have approximately 16,000 miles of use. this is clearly a problem with either the car or the tires, and the dealership acknowledged that it was a problem with the alignment of the vehicle. i am concerned because my vehicle was in for a regular service a month ago, and land rover neither mentioned the problem nor took any action to correct the defect. now that the tires are gone, land rover is fixing the problem and replacing the tires. my concern comes from the fact that the tires were worn enough to expose the material under the tread. the wear takes place on the insides of the rear tires, and so is not visible to a casual glance. if we had not noticed the damage when we did, i feel fairly certain that a blowout would have occurred. this is the kind of thing that needs to be prevented and can be prevented if the manufacturer is proactive. *nm.Mileage was 16000 miles. LAND ROVER LR3 2006 car safety problem was reported on Dec 10, 2009.LAND ROVER LR3 2006, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES . land rover lr3's have a faulty rear tailgate release mechanism that could lead to being trapped in the car. my rear tailgate would not open is controlled by an electronic actuator....so i looked in the owners manual to see where the manual release is....guess what there is not one...so if this little cable brakes that is attached to the rear tailgate actuator..there is no way to manual open the tailgate from inside or outside of the vehicle. after looking on the internet at various land rover forums..i have found this to be a problem on lr3's. if you where unable to get the front doors in the event of an emergency and had to exit the rear...if that cable is broke...it is impossible to manually release the rear tailgate..you are stuck in the car..i took the car to the land rover dealership and there fix is to just replace the broke cable/actuator for 500.00...they have to break into the rear tailgate from inside the vehicle....ruining the trim ...which of course i have to pay to have replaced..hence the large bill.....this is a safety hazard and should be recalled/addressed by landrover. *tr.Mileage was 70000 miles. Land Rover Lr3 2006 Electrical System Review #10563323

LAND ROVER LR3 2006 car safety problem was reported on June 11, 2014.LAND ROVER LR3 2006, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with SUSPENSION . i began to notice a rattling noise coming from underneath the driver's side, while driving at any speed. after a week, the "suspension fault" light came on. i was told the suspension compressor needed to be replaced, so i went ahead with the repairs at a cost of $1600. when i picked up the vehicle and tested the suspension, it would not raise into off road height. it lowered fine, but when i put it in normal height, only the rear would raise. it also took a lot longer than usual. i didn't even get it out of the shop parking lot before the suspension fault light lit up again. after researching this problem online and finding out that this is a common problem that sometimes takes 2 or 3 attempts to correct, it's obvious there's a defect with the suspension system or the actual compressor. either way, this should be covered by landrover. i hope they do the right thing and issue a recall. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 103000 miles. LAND ROVER LR3 2006 car safety problem was reported on Sept 04, 2014.LAND ROVER LR3 2006, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . 2006 lr3 with only 93k miles had the timing chain break while on the highway and the engine immediately shut down. the vehicle has a full service history at an authorized land rover dealer showing recommended maintenance has been performed during the life of the vehicle. the damage to the engine (valves etc.) is estimated at $5500 to repair. the timing chain is made of metal and based on industry expertise is not supposed to break for the life of the engine or past 200,000+ miles. research online shows this has happened to other lr3 owners with vehicles with less than 100k miles. based upon the expectations for the lifespan of a timing chain and other similar incidents, i believe there may be a defective part on this vehicle associated with the timing chain and it's related components. there are no manufacturer recommended guidelines to replace the timing chain prior to 100k miles and it is expected to last far longer than 100k miles based upon normal wear and tear for this vehicle. we have only used the vehicle us roads as you would a typical automobile (no off-roading hobbies etc.) we are pursuing this matter with land rover directly and reporting this as a safety issue to alert other lr3 owners..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 93000 miles.
