CHILD OPERATED BUTTON TO CLOSE AUTOMATIC REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND REACHED BEHIND FOR SEAT BELT. IT WAS DARK AND THE CHILD WAS FEELING AROUND FOR THE BELT, WHEN THE DOOR CLOSED ON CHILD'S HAND AND CRUSHED FINGERS. THIS WAS IN THE REAR PART OF THE DOOR, NEXT TO WHERE THE SEAT BELT ANCHOR IS. CHILD WAS SCREAMING AND PARENT OPERATED DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPEN BUTTON TO RELEASE HAND. FINGERS ARE BADLY BRUISED. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT FINGERS CAN GET CAUGHT IN THE REAR, SO IT WAS UNEXPECTED. THERE IS ALSO NO AUTOMATIC RELEASE SIMILAR TO THAT WHEN AN OBSTRUCTION IS ENCOUNTERED IN THE FRONT PART OF THE DOOR. | |
