HONDA CR-V 2011 car safety problem was reported on Jan 04, 2011.HONDA CR-V 2011, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . i bought a new 2011 honda cr v and have a serious safety issue. the engine maintained its speed or accelerated on four separate occasions when i applied the brake and tried to stop. the worst incident occurred when i tried to come to a stop at a red light with cars in front of me. i applied brake and car stopped but engine raced. i had to apply very strong pressure to brake to hold car in place. engine was racing and car was pulling forward. i shifted to neutral, engine continued to race and then i heard a loud knocking sound come from engine like a washing machine makes when it is out of balance. i was very scared. i turned engine off and then at green light turned engine on and it was ok. this happened four separate times when the car had just over 200 miles on it, just over 400 miles, 723 miles, and 819 miles. i did not have my foot on both gas and brake, the mats are the honda mats that come with car and are fastened to the floor and were not on the gas. this really happened, very scary. reported to honda and took car in twice. honda said there were no codes and the brakes looked ok. they said to call american honda which i did. i reported it as a serious safety issue. honda said someone would get in touch with me the next day. its been a week and no one has contacted me. i have owned the car for 40 days and driven it less than 850 miles and this has happened four times and been in the shop twice. honda says they cannot reproduce and that i should just let them know when it happens again. they have not tested anything with the idle or the throttle sticking are not concerned with my safety. *tr.Mileage was 400 miles. HONDA CR-V 2011 car safety problem was reported on July 13, 2012.HONDA CR-V 2011, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . this is in reference to what we believe is a product defect in our 2011 honda cr-v ex that has occurred two times to date. one occurrence was july 13. 2012 with my husband and i experienced the second while driving the car on may 23, 2013. summary of the occurrences to date, almost identical in both cases: while going to park the car, the car accelerates dramatically while we were braking. the car would not stop until they hit something, i.e. our garage door and a concrete wall in a parking lot. on the first occurrence, we contacted both honda and our insurance companies. after their inspection, the claimed there was nothing that they could find wrong with the car. we had no choice but to take the car back because it was leased and their trade proposition was cost prohibitive. we drove it and the second incident occurred. now the car is parked and we do not know exactly what to do. if we take it to honda, we are fearful that they will not acknowledge there is something wrong with the car or make another temporary adjustment to the car and we will again be in a similar situation while driving and cause serious injury to ourselves and/or others. we asked for legal advice only to be told if there is no injury they cannot do anything! please advise if there is any action we can take in regard to this serious problem. *tr .Vehicle was involved in a crash. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 6000 miles. HONDA CR-V 2011 car safety problem was reported on Feb 03, 2014.HONDA CR-V 2011, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . i purchased my 2011 honda crv brand new from our local honda dealership. i have been happy with it until last month. i began to notice that whenever i came to a stop or slowed down below 10 mph and then accelerated, my doors would make the locking sound even though they were already locked. it happens repeatedly as i slow down/stop and then accelerate. then today (3/4/2014) the problem escalated. i came out of the grocery store and couldn't unlock the cargo door with my key fob. i noticed that the left passenger door didn't unlock as well. i pressed the button a few more times and they wouldn't unlock. the driver door, front passenger and right rear passenger doors did unlock. so then i pressed the unlock button on the driver door armrest but the cargo door and the left passenger door still didn't unlock. i had to put my groceries in through the right rear passenger door since the cargo door doesn't have a way to open manually from the inside, nor manually with a key from the outside. if this problem gets worse, this can pose a very serious safety problem. what if there's an emergency and your car doesn't unlock? i just did some research on the problem to see if it was something simple that could be fixed. a quick online search brought my attention to countless complaints of door lock failures on crv's. seems this is an issue that's been going on for years (at least 2007-2011). i was shocked to find out honda hasn't issued a recall. this is a widespread and serious problem! i called my honda dealership to find out the approximate cost to replace the door lock actuators. this isn't a cheap fix! they would charge $180 labor for each door they would need to fix on top of the cost of each door lock actuator which ranges from $59 to $75 each, depending on which door the part is for. i would need 2, possibly 3, replaced so that would be about $500 to almost $750. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 75000 miles. HONDA CR-V 2011 car safety problem was reported on Mar 19, 2014.HONDA CR-V 2011, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with TIRES . i filed a claim/complaint april 6, 2014 for premature wear for continental 225/65r17-102t tires equipped on 2011 honda cr-v to continental &honda. continental advertises tires are warranted for 65,000 miles or 6 years. it became necessary to replace all 4 tires 3/19/14 at 31,013 miles or less than half the expected life of the tire. the vehicle and tires consistently were serviced by accredited honda dealer & tire pressure maintained. additionally, on april 6, 2012 the right rear tire went flat with no cause provided and replaced at a cost of $193.00. i have received no compensation for that tire. subsequently, on 4/22/14 honda representative [xxx] responded to my letter of 4/6/14. he referred me to continental tire & denied any compensation from honda. on 4/23/14, ?[xxx]? with continental tires called to confirm they ?never guarantee or warrant mileage on tires?. she specifically directed me to adjustment policy, #3. HONDA CR-V 2011 car safety problem was reported on May 31, 2012.HONDA CR-V 2011, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with WHEELS . said honda cr-v purchased 05/22/14 at port charlotte honda and was traded in about 2 hours prior to purchase.our 2007 lincoln town car was supposedly sold prior to our arrival at dealership. we wanted to drive our lincoln back home & leave the honda for safety inspection and detailing per our agreement with sales person (mike homer) and finance manager (eric dane). they insisted we drive the honda home and return for the services the next week as promised. the front tires were very bald being the original tires that came on it in 2011. we insisted that at the least the front and rear tires be rotated so the better (not exactly true) were on the front since it was a front wheel drive vehicle. upon returning for service i told mike and eric i wasn't at all happy with the condition of the 2 tires on the front, it was a real safety issue. they assured me the tires met the specs and were safe the service department said the tire specs were between 2/32th and 4/32th. this isn't a true statement & i was told by the general sales manager they couldn't spend any additional on the vehicle. being the first honda we have ever purchased it was a major decision switching from ford (which we have never had a problem with the vehicles or the service department). eric said we would be real happy with the honda cr-v which we are except for the safety issue with the tires. i've made numerous calls but the dealership still refuses to replace the tires without charging us for them. i refuse to pay hundreds for dollars for tires that should have never left the dealership. i took the honda to the local bridgestone dealership here in cape coral for evaluation and the measurement was 1/32 and he said he wouldn't drive 2 miles on those dangerous tires. the left driver's tire was flat every morning so we are now on a donut tire. we needed this issued resolved as soon as possible..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 38393 miles. HONDA CR-V 2011 car safety problem was reported on July 10, 2013.HONDA CR-V 2011, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . at 2 years, after 19,000 miles of normal suburban driving, loud grating and clunking noises and repetitive vibrations came from the brakes when driving at a low speed [3-5 mph] and became louder when brakes applied. dealer said rotors severely rusted and had to be replaced [oem] for $1,000. said resurfacing could not be done due to severity of rust. 30 days later same thing happened. again all four brake rotors were replaced [oem]. now 12 months later again have rusty brake rotors with harsh grating and clunking noises. car is routinely parked in large garage in high-rise apartment building more than 99% of nights. this makes three full sets of four rotors after 19,000 miles. dealer asks if i park in damp location, but the second floor garage is never damp and not near window. dealer says he has no idea; maybe chinese use bogus materials. but these are honda oem. brake rotors should certainly last more than 19,000 miles [first episode] and three full sets should last more than 28,000 miles and 38 months. brake rotors that rust so quickly when not abused and are so damaged that resurfacing is not even possible must surely be considered a significant safety issue. if the rotors become this thin this fast, the brakes may very well fracture during emergency braking. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 19000 miles. HONDA CR-V 2011 car safety problem was reported on Nov 30, 2014.HONDA CR-V 2011, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . we pulled our honda crv 2011 into a parking lot at bonefish grill in canton ohio on november 30, 2014. my mother was pulling into a parking spot and the accelerator moved to the floor and the car could not be stopped by slamming on the brakes. we ended up running into a car parked in front of us then a car to the left of us and then the car was finally stopped when we ran into the side of another car parked in the lot where it finally came to rest. the air bags did not deploy, and we were not injured. we were very scared and there was substantial damage to the 3 other cars as well as our own. we have read online the stories of others that had very similar situations with this particular make and model vehicle. we do not plan on ever getting in this vehicle again and will not trust any vehicle that honda builds as well. this incident luckily happened in a parking lot. if we would have been in an intersection we or someone else would likely have been killed. this vehicle needs to be recalled and customers should be compensated for the negligence on the part of the company. it looks like from the stories that we have read that honda is claiming no responsibility for this issue and blaming it on driver error. this is not acceptable and honda needs to own up to their incompetence and dishonesty..Vehicle was involved in a crash. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 42000 miles. HONDA CR-V 2011 car safety problem was reported on May 15, 2014.HONDA CR-V 2011, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . in may, 2014, the right rear power window quit working and would not go back up after having it completely down. i toggled the window switch a few times and the window eventually went back up, so i thought it was just a glitch. we live in arizona where the summertime is very hot, so the window was never used again due to air conditioning. the window was used recently because the weather has cooled down from the summer heat. this time, toggling the switch did not work and the window stayed in the down position completely. i took the honda cr-v to a local honda dealership which diagnosed the issue as a faulty master power window switch. i've researched and discovered there have been numerous issues with faulty master power window switches on several different honda models. there are several recalls affecting just under one million automobiles manufactured and there is a potential fire hazard according to honda. the company's recall statement says, "water, rain, or other liquid may enter the driver's window and reach the master power window switch, resulting in impaired function of the switch...switch is damaged as a result of the liquid intrusion, it may result in failure of the switch and overheating...an overheating switch may cause smoke, melting or, potentially, fire." the national highway traffic safety administration opened an investigation into a fire hazard with the master power switch on the honda cr-vs. also, chris naughton, a honda spokesman, said one person died in south africa in a fire attributed to the problem. it is apparent honda still has not properly corrected the master power window switch issue. please continue your investigation of this issue. honda's engineers need to re-design the switch; itâ¿¿s housing, and replace all potential faulty master switches to ensure consumersâ¿¿ safety from fire/death and financial responsibility..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 34000 miles.
