TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT AN ENGINEER WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINEER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,785.
