Volkswagen Golf 2010 Fuel System, Diesel Review #10371203 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010 car safety problem was reported on Dec 19, 2010.VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL . 2010 vw golf tdi 2dr, 6 speed manual: loss of power occurs on occasion, typically under hard acceleration after shifting from 1st into 2nd and pushing down accelerator, car will lose all power, but not stall, for 2-5 seconds followed by regaining power. when it regains power there is a huge plume of white smoke out the tail pipe that quickly dissipates, leading me to believe fuel or water. car also done exactly same even while attempting to pass a car: downshifting from 5th to 3rd gear, hitting the accelerator and exact same lag/loss of power. car now has 15k miles and i have experienced this about 6-10 times over the past 6 months. dealership mechanics claim they can not replicate or find any error codes plus claiming they've never heard of this type of complaint, also they claim/suggest this could be a poor fuel issue, suggesting going to another gas station. salesperson who sold me car informed me, off the record, this is a common complaint and their is safety campaign currently going on with the 2009 jetta tdi, but clearly this is the same engine as the '09. this type of complaint is also all over the internet and found in numerous complaints on the 2009 jetta tdi on this same website, therefore it sure sounds like a cover-up when the mechanics tell me they've never heard of any complaints like this??? as a veteran law enforcement officer and accident investigator for the past 20 years, this is a very major safety concern. *tr.Mileage was 10000 miles. Volkswagen Golf 2010 Power Train Manual TransmissionVolkswagen Golf 2010 Power Train Manual Transmission Review #10371818 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010 car safety problem was reported on Dec 20, 2010.VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION . 2010 volkswagen golf tdi 6 speed manual: clutch and ignition switch issue. vehicle is clearly one of the easiest cars to stall. owner has been driving for 27 years, professionally trained driver as a law enforcement officer and driven numerous manual transmission vehicles in demanding situations. this vehicle has very long clutch travel but an extremely short engagement. car notoriously stalls very easily because of this. vehicle is designed with an apparent built in 750 rpm stall meter...ie car will not remain running if in gear and at or below 750 rpm's. secondly, due to the stalling of the engine, the next inferior design issue is that vw ignitions require you to completely manually cycle off the ignition switch (as when the car is stalled) then recycle the ignition switch to restart the motor. therefore, when you stall the car, as easily as it happens, such as moving out into an intersection from a stop sign, you must rapidly turn ignition switch counter clockwise, followed immediately clockwise to restart the engine. this is a safety issue as it is leaving you disabled where another vehicle could easily collide with you. vw apparently feels this type of ignition "safety" is necessary to reduce the chance of damaging an ignition if one were to attempt to turn over an already running engine, when one forgot it was running. if this is such a great design why don't other car manufactures also use this feature? and i have never heard of anyone severely damaging an ignition by turning over an ignition on an already running engine. *tr.Mileage was 1 miles. Volkswagen Golf 2010 Unknown Or OtherVolkswagen Golf 2010 Unknown Or Other Review #10383359 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010 car safety problem was reported on Nov 30, 2010.VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with UNKNOWN OR OTHER . in oct. 2009, i purchased a 2010 volkswagen golf. within four months, it began having problems. every few months since, it has come to a halt while i am driving. the radio and dashboard lights all operate, but the car no longer moves. you must turn it off then back on at least once. i have narrowly avoided accidents with multiple cars and an 18-wheeler on i-95 and us1 in miami. the car has even come to a halt while driving at 55 mph. it has also stopped after trying to accelerate when a traffic light turned from red to green, and when switching lanes. i have brought the car to multiple vw dealerships, but they cannot replicate the problem, and it does not log on the car's computer. some of the mechanics have noted that other cars have come in with similar issues, especially golfs, and 2.5l jettas. the car has done this five times and has been in the shop for at least 30 cumulative days. i am working to try to get vw to refund me under the florida lemon law. at one dealership, i was told the problem would have to get worse before they could do anything. the service manager at another dealership promised to contact vw corporate and suggested i call him to follow up; however, he did not return my call. after i contacted vw corporate, they sent someone to meet me at a local dealership, and he was 30 minutes late for our appointment. when i called the person who had arranged this meeting to determine if the representative was still coming, my call was not returned. i have missed work, spent hours researching this matter and following the protocol associated with the lemon law, and spent money on tolls on the way to the dealership and expenses related to alternative driving arrangements. i absolutely do not feel safe in this car, and avoid driving it whenever possible. finally, i have read about your investigation into vw cars stalling and would like to point out that this problem is not limited to diesel cars, as my car runs on regular unleaded. *tr.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):WVWDA7AJ3AW. Volkswagen Golf 2010 Fuel System, Diesel Review #10408900 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010 car safety problem was reported on June 05, 2011.VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL . i was on a 350 mile trip, and i stopped and filled up with diesel at a chevron station about 60 miles into the trip. i have the receipt that says "diesel" on it. the car started fine and drove fine until i stopped about 200 miles later. then the car would not restart right away. after trying it a few times it started. i finished driving the last 90 miles without problems and stopped the car and shut it off. then the car would not restart at all. the next morning the car started and ran roughly for 30 seconds, then smoothed out and ran fine. i drove to the dealer. i had read about high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) problems with these cars and told them to check it out. they called the next day and said the pump was fine but that they were still investigating. two more days later they said the hpfp was bad due to contaminated fuel and it needed $8,000 in repairs. they said they tried to burn a sample of the fuel and it burned, and they said that diesel won't burn, so therefore they said there was gas in the tank. they told me to call my insurance since it wasn't covered under warranty. i called the chevron station where i bought the fuel, and to my amazement they talked to their distributor who agreed to pay the charges. i feel very lucky. i think this is volkswagen's problem with these pumps, given all the other complaints and no complaints from chevy and ford diesel pickup truck drivers about "contaminated fuel" since we all buy fuel at the same places. now i'm scared that i'll be paying the bill the next time this happens. the car is a 2010 vw golf with only 19,000 miles. the dealer took 3 weeks to fix the car. *tr.Mileage was 19000 miles. Volkswagen Golf 2010 Air BagsVolkswagen Golf 2010 Air Bags Review #10440237 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010 car safety problem was reported on Dec 15, 2011.VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with AIR BAGS . air bag failed to deploy when car rear ended a towed vehicle. the towed vehicle speed was approximately 40-45 mph and the vw golf speed was 70-75 mph. the golf's front-end was destroyed (along with it's electrical system), and was immobilized. but, none of the airbags deployed. the tow truck driver and the body shop owner questioned why the air bags failed with the amount of damage incurred. when contacted, the vw representative was more interested in my hospital expenses than the fact the air bags didn't deploy. the highway patrolman who worked the accident, said he was already involved in a lawsuit where the air bags did not deploy and a fatality occurred. he said the car in that accident was not a vw. also, after i had left for the hospital, a fireman told my wife he had noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment due to something electrical smoldering. he didn't elaborate. *tr.Vehicle was involved in a crash. Volkswagen Golf 2010 Engine And Engine CoolingVolkswagen Golf 2010 Engine And Engine Cooling Review #10445783 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010 car safety problem was reported on Jan 17, 2012.VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING . inter-cooler design is defective in that it allows condensation and sludge to build within the charge air intake system which subsequently freezes and thaws with low ambient temperature and it moves further and further within the intake system until the condensate and sludge become drawn into the air intake manifold and becomes discharged into the cylinders causing the engine to hydro-lock and fail. causing potential for permanent and catastrophic damage upon restart. currently for this model, the repair is covered under the manufacturer's warranty along with replacement of the charge air inter-cooler system with a redesign. it remains to be seen whether this redesigned system indeed solves the root cause of this problem. however, if the car is beyond the years/miles of the original manufacturer's or extended warranty, vw will not subsidize the repairs to the engine, nor the replacement of the charge air system...even though the problem was directly caused by their design. the owner will be responsible for the large expense of getting the car running again. *tt.Mileage was 32500 miles. Volkswagen Golf 2010 Fuel System, DieselVolkswagen Golf 2010 Fuel System, Diesel Review #10449335 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010 car safety problem was reported on Feb 18, 2012.VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL . immediately after the 40k service on my 2010 vw golf tdi with 39,300 miles, the diesel glow plug warning light came on and the engine started running roughly. approximately 10 seconds later, the engine stalled. the car would not restart and had to be towed to the dealership. the dealership found fragments of metal in the fuel system and replaced the entire fuel system (approximately $5000 in parts not including labor). vw agreed to pay for the repair but there is no guarantee they will pay for this repair if it happens again. also, vw was unable to tell me if the replacement high pressure fuel pump is the same design as the original one that failed. i am concerned the fuel pump could fail again and this time cause an accident it the car were to stall on the interstate. i am also concerned that, should the high pressure fuel pump fail again, it could cost between $8000 and $10,000 to repair. it appears that vw is repairing cars, with a fix that offes no assurance that the problem wont recur and, the nhtsa may getting an accurate report on the actual number of high pressure fuel pump failures. *tr.Mileage was 39300 miles. Volkswagen Golf 2010 Exterior LightingVolkswagen Golf 2010 Exterior Lighting Review #10557979 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010 car safety problem was reported on Nov 07, 2013.VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2010, manufactured by Volkswagen of America, Inc. had a problem with EXTERIOR LIGHTING . first sympton was a faulty warning light stating, incorrectly, that a bulb was dead. replaced headlights under advice from dealer that the error was due to faulty voltage from a dying bulb. condition worsened. information center began stating that all bulbs were out each time you started the car and then finally, lights began to fail. the car lost all exterior passenger side lights and had only intermittent use of rear driver side lighting. dealer then diagnosed problem as a melted fuse box but could not give reason for melting. no modifications have ever been made to the car. a quick interenet search revealed many people with the same problem across many volkswagen models and that the dealer's fix of just replacing the fusebox may not address the underlying problem which may be due to a wire to the fuse box. over $700 spent to date on repairs with no understanding of why vw fuse boxes are melting and wondering how long till my new box melts too. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 45000 miles. the engine of my VW golf 1996 model stops abruptly while driving; what could br the problem? i had a trailer hitch put a 2009 passat and they couldnt get the lights to work. called the vw dealer and they said i couldnt put a trailer on a passat. the manual says i can. while driving my 2000 turbo bug my clutch went all the way to the floor and my oil pressure light is flashing how do you reset the warning indicator light after i have replaced the brake pads on my 2008 volkswagon jetta? where is windows circuit breaker located where is windows circuit breaker 2000 beetle VW GOLF GTI IS CUTTING OUT AT LIGHTS AND STALLING IN TRAFFIC I went out today to drive my car to the store and the battery was dead and there is a clicking noise when the door opens temperature light flashes intermittently 1999 VW Beetle .......temperature light flashes intermittently while driving not overheating Rain water leak 1965 Volkswagen Beetle actually looked a little different than its predecessors.
