2000 Cabrio, runs great but the engine may kill at any time, then starts after 30 seconds and runs for 20 or 30 miles. Seems like some kind of relay waiting to reset. When the engine dies the motor will turn over like it has no electrical ignition to start the car. 30 seconds and starts right up, no problems for hours.'

put a new battery and the odometer stays on, next day went to turn on the car and the battery was dead. oh and windows go up and down with the key out of the ignition. what could be draining the battery? 1999 VW Cabrio.
