Purchased in 2000 an mr 2. as this is serviced by dealers for change oil i did not know until dec '10 that the hood latch release is not working until the mechanic told me. my car is 75k miles and if i assume that it is changed every 5000 miles it has been opened 15 times. double it to 30 it is still defective.
my dealer is charging me $300 to fix the problem. there was a technical bulletin that it is warrantied for 36,000 miles. what does mileage have to do with a mechanical engine hood latch? I already bought a cable thinking that i can fix it. the dealer does not want to show me how to manually open the hood without using the release arm on the left of the passenger seat. please help me. frankd8@gmail.com
