I purchased a 2007 v6 xle certified Camry in Late September of 2010, in NJ. I notice maybe a month after I had the car a problem with the acceleration. At any time if the car sits for a length of time after I start the car and let it sit for a few mins. When I shift the car to drive and aceleraate the car will not move ...forward or backward. I step on the gas petal the egine revs but the car will not move. It doesn't matter ...snow, ice dry or sand.
I went to2 different dealerships. The first specialist told me that I need tires my problem is poor quality tires. The tires, on the car when I bought it. He said the tires were spinning and spinng the rubber is to hard and the car's computer is not able registar and the car will not move. The dealership's specialist where I bought the car says there is nothing at all wrong with the car.Yatta Yatta...It was put on the computer for diagonisis and they found nothing.(period) That was that!
I asked the dealership that said it was the tires, if they could loan me a set of better tires to support their diagnoses. I told them I would buy tires if the better quality tires woul correct the problem. The response was that they are sure I need tires and did not answer me when I asked for a trial tire option. Before I buy tires that I might nnot need right now. Only to learn that it is another problem I might be responsible to pay for. Toyota is letting me down. I beleived this corporation would be more assertive in assisting cutomers correct their problems. I called Toyota head quarters was told that t his was an isolated issue, that there have not been any similar complains. I am so glad I found this page. Because quite contrary to what I have been told this is a problem. I felt very alone... hope more Toyota owners report this problem.
