My 97 Plymouth Gran Voyager is overheating, the temp gauge is redlining and it won't hold coolant. I took it to a mechanic who is telling me there are two metal pipes that lead to the back of the van that are completely rusted out and that's where the coolant leak is. He wants $650 to replace them.
First, what are these pipes? Part of the heating system? And second, does that price sound reasonable? Keep in mind I have NO mechanical skill and so DIY is out of the question.
