The steering wheel tilt was problematic for some time and finally froze in the highest position.  When I brought the car to the dealership for regular service, the mechanic did something that telescoped it towards the seat and downward to the lowest position, and it was frozen in this position.  I couldn't drive the car from the lot.  When I brought it to their attention, they said the motors (two of them) were frozen and both needed to be replaced at a cost $1990 (car warranty had expired).  Unbelievable!  I never had this problem with my old LS 400 that I drove till it had over 200k miles.
