I have a 2007 Jeep Compass. It was purchased new. (As of today  I have about 55,000 miles on it.) A couple of months after purchasing it I started to hear a thumping noise in my front end when turning around corners. I also heard a creaking noise whenever going over any bumps or hitting any potholes. The noise was consistent for awhile and then went away. It came back again and then would go away or not be so noticeable. While driving on the interstate I never went over 65 as my front end always shook/trembled the steering wheel in my hands and I would ease off the accelerator to stop the shaking. Last year I had a tire blow out while driving. The left front tie blew out and upon looking at the tire- there was VERY OBVIOUS uneven tire wear. The belts were showing through on the half of the tire that faces in toward the vehicle. I looked at the right tire and it looked exactly like the left tire so we quickly had both front tires replaced with new ones. Five months later my new front tires (both) were bald on the inside. I had to go in to purchase new tires again and we ended up getting 4 new tires (on sale) and this time we had an alignment check to look into the front end. My left ball joint and right tie rod needed to be replaced. I had the left ball joint done today at $238. I was planning to have the tie rod done within a month (it's another $200 or so) but I was advised that I needed to get it done asap. After having the ball joint done my steering is pulling to the right so much that I had to drive the Compass home going 25 with my hazard lights on. I am having the tie rod done tomorrow as I can no longer drive. I am praying that this will fix it! After doing some research on this it seems that EVERY Jeep Compass has the same problem. I'm really shocked that this problem has not been recalled. I'm really shocked that I have been driving this car all along and I have been risking my life. I knew something wasn't right but when you buy a new car you don't expect to drive it off the lot and it be a broken piece of ****.  TIE RODS AND BALL JOINTS ARE VERY DANGEROUS. They are the components of your steering and when they break someone is going to crash. Is Jeep/Chrysler waiting for someone to die before they'll do anything??? I will never buy another Jeep. Ever. I'm already trying to figure out how to get rid of this car but I feel horrible that someone else will buy it if I trade it in. There is too much information across the internet about all of the problems with the 2007 Jeep Compass. I hope people see this. I hope people won't buy these vehicles. They are dangerous and the company that stands behind them needs to be made liable for their faulty/dangerous manufacturing.
