My 2006 Honda Odyssey touring minivan failed to keep my 5 year old daughter safe during a head on collision. Last week we were driving home going about 45 miles per hour when a man pulled head on into our minivan. I had my 1 year old and 5 year old daughters in the car. My 5 year old was in a Graco high back booster seat strapped into the third row seat. During impact she was thrown into the seat in front of her because the shoulder portion of the lap belt failed to lock and hold her in her seat. She sustained a large hematoma to forehead, bruising to both eye sockets and right cheek bone. She also has back and neck pain. I am very upset about the accident and that fact that I trusted our minivan to be a safe family vehicle. I never imagined not being able to trust that your lapbelt would not lock on impact. We went out and spent the extra $200 to put her in a 5 point harness high back booster that has the latch system to hold the car seat in place. I pray no other parents have to endure a ride in the back of an ambulance with their child who has been injured by a Honda Odyssey seat belt failure.
