We bought a 2013 Ford Fusion on Oct 24th 2012 and at 250 miles got a power steering fault indicator. The steering worked fine as I continued driving for another 30 plus miles to my final destination. After turning the car off going into store and coming back out and starting the car, it indicated a steering loss and the steering would not work. Had to get the car towed at 250 miles. This was back around November. Ford delearship in contact with Ford engineers could not determine the problem with the codes they had. They reset the codes by I assume disconnecting the battery and the steering resumed. Today, 13 Jan 2013 we were on a drive and approxiately 50 miles down the road, the steering fault indicator came on again. The car had 1710 miles on it. I immediately turned around and headed home. We were approximately 55 miles from home so driving home was kinda scary thinking the steering would quit at anytime. The steering worked perfectly until we got home where I turned the engine off then back on and the steering failed completely again. Now we have a car in the garage with no steering. By reading many posts online this steering problem seems to be a long time problem for older fusions. Well its the same for even the brand new 2013 Ford Fusions. The dealership will be coming over to our home to somehow reset the steering fault so they can drive it to their dearlership to what they say (replace the rack) since Ford Engineers cannot determine the real problem this will be the, "replace something and hope it fixes it". Will it require someone getting killed before they determine they are selling vehicles with a known major/serious problem. Cause like I said this is a brand new 2013 Ford fusion 2 1/2 months old with only 1750 miles on it. Plz someone help us cause this is very annoying and very scary knowing you have an unrealiable car. Thank goodness they already fixed the coolant overheat/fire problems and headlight problems on this car so what is next.
