I have a 1998 Dakota manual shift. Starts fine in the morning. Drive 4 to 5 miles and stop. Start back up to leave and it will stall 3 to 4 times until it will stay running. While driving after that it will intermittently loose power sputter backfire then everything is fine. Ocassionally check engine light will come on and then go off for no reason. No codes are found with OBD tester. After replacing every electronic sensor and fuel pump and filter, the only thing left was the ECU. After replacing the ECU all problems were gone. Now 3 years later, the same problems have come back. Once again, replacing the ECU eliminated all issues.
