On morning of April14th/11 my wife and I left Mesa, Ar. on our way back to Saskatchewan, temp
was about 70F, our 2009 Town Country Ltd. had 38,000 km. about 55 miles into our trip we
encountered a fairly steep grade, posted at 55mph, conditions we excellent, suddenly our
vehicle began to shimmy. We have owned 5 Chrysler vans prior to this 2009 and never have
we experienced this type of braking performance, vehicle shook violently and appeared to be
on the verge of, disaster. We stopped at the Chrysler dealership in Payson, Ar. where wheels
were removed and problem diagnosed as warped rotors, because there is no warranty for brakes
beyond 20,000 kms, we decided, after serious consultation, to return to our dealer in Saskatchewan.
Aside from a mild vibration while braking, we had no further problems during remaining 1500
miles of our trip. Our concern, we did not brake irradically so as to heat the brakes, prior to this
incident, and have at times braked much harder and longer without incidence. When rotors and
pads were exposed they appeared in new condition, aside from regular discoloration, wear tear.
What is the scoop on this obviously, very serious condition as there is no reason to replace
these parts, other than poor engineering.
