Toyota Service Brakes, Air Drum Shoes/linings

Our 2004 Sienna just had its 90K mile service.  The entire rack and pinion system needs replacing, the water pump, and the transmission pan. The thing that kills me is during our 90K mile servcie on our Toyota Avalon 2 years ago - the rack and pi

just took my 2005 tundra 4wd truck in for service and was informed that I needed a new:"gear" for the rack and pinion steering.. Truck has 86,600 miles, and extended warranty ran out in Nov.
2010. Is this a "normal " problem for that mileage
