Toyota Camry Air Bags Safety Report | July 26, 2013

Reported on July 26, 2013

A SPIDER GOT INTO THE A/C DRAINAGE TUBE CAUSING WATER TO DRIP INSIDE OF THE CAR. THIS CAUSED THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO GO ON IN THE CAR. PRIOR TO BRINGING IT TO THE DEALER I CLEANED OUT THE CAR AND NOTICED THE FLOOR WAS SOAKING WET UNDER ALL OF THE MATS. THE DEALER TOLD ME I COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THAT IT IS DANGEROUS. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE PLATINUM WARRANTY I TOOK OUT WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH IT'S A HAZARD. TODAY I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON CAMRYS, AVALONS AND OTHERS BUT FOR THE 2012 AND 13 MODELS. I CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I'M LUCKY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON IT'S OWN AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO ME. PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU. *TR
