Toyota 4runner 2006 Power Train DrivelineToyota 4runner 2006 Power Train Driveline Review #10153716 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006 car safety problem was reported on Mar 24, 2006.TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006, manufactured by TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION had a problem with POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE . i have a driveline vibration on my 2006 toyota 4runner v8 sport model, 4575 miles, vin [xx]. the vibration is most noticeable while diving at highway speeds of 72-74 mph. the vibration can be described as a cyclical droning vibration and can be felt on the driver floorboard and dead pedal, the accelerator pedal, as well as slightly on the steering wheel. the vibration is more noticeable when a load is placed on the engine like when climbing a grade. the vibration is also noticeable when accelerating full throttle very hard from a stop. the vehicle also has a clunk that can be felt and heard when coming to a stop. the clunk is also present when starting from a complete stop after removing the brakes. i have had the vehicle inspected by both the dealer and district toyota service manager. both of them indicate that this is "normal" for this type of vehicle and the they won't do anything to fix the problem. i don't feel that either of these issues are normal and feel that the problem is safety related and should be fixed. *jb updated 07/16/2012 *js information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 4500 miles. Toyota 4runner 2006 Fuel System, GasolineToyota 4runner 2006 Fuel System, Gasoline Review #10202859 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006 car safety problem was reported on Aug 04, 2007.TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006, manufactured by TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION had a problem with FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE . vehicle is a polaris sportsman 800 that option is not available later in this form so i put toyota. on august 4 2007 i began an atv ride/camping trip with two other individuals that was planned to go through 8/11. we stopped for lunch on day 1 and after several minutes i heard a strange hissing sound coming from my atv. i removed the gas cap at which time large volume of fuel was ejected (like a geyser) about 12-18" straight up. thankfully i was still wearing eye protection because the fuel sprayed my face, hand, arms and torso. i initially thought that the vent hose leading from the gas tank must be clogged or pinched allowing the fuel tank to over pressurize. i checked the vent hose and it was clear and then positioned it so it could be observed. throughout the remainder of the trip the gas tank continued to hiss and build of pressure and fuel would continuously leak, bubble, shoot out of the vent hose both when the atv was moving or not. when the atv was idling and pressure was built up, i would slowly release pressure in the tank by slowly opening the gas cap the atv would die. brought the atv to the dealership who could not replicate the problem and therefore would not or could not fix it. i related to the authorized polaris dealership that my atv idling in their service department does not fairly replicate the environment that caused the fuel problem. i am prepared to provide your agency with sworn statements from witnesses, photos, more detailed dates, times and names of individuals i attempted to resolve this issue with at the polaris dealership and customer service. i do not know if this is an isolated incident but considering how my concerns were brushed aside by the manufacture under the guise of being "unable to replicate" it could be wide spread. it goes without question that the nature of this problem presents a very real danger to consumers. thank you, in advance, for your consideration and assistance in this matter. *tr.1 person(s) were injured. Toyota 4runner 2006 Unknown Or OtherToyota 4runner 2006 Unknown Or Other Review #10299572 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006 car safety problem was reported on Dec 13, 2009.TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006, manufactured by TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION had a problem with UNKNOWN OR OTHER . i was coming into dewitt arkansas on highway165 on 12/13/09 at about 12:30pm with my cruise control on at about 60 mph. i tapped the brake to disengage the cruise control and slowed down to make a right hand turn into an exxon mini mart. my 2006 toyota 4runner suddenly accelerated as i attempted to stop near the front door. as i applied pressure to the brakes i heard the anti lock brakes clicking and suddenly the 4runner lunged forward striking a large pole that was in front of me. the rear wheels were spinning wildly and the back end was bouncing up and down. the 4runner was bouncing to the side and i slammed the shift lever into park. the power to the back wheels stopped. i sat back and took my foot off the brake pedal, then i noticed that the engine was still running wide open throttle. i reached up and turned the key off. i looked at the floor mat and it was in its normal location with no contact with the gas pedal. the two hooks were attached holding the floor mat in place. there was no way it could have been involved. two employees came out and asked if i was okay. i told them i was okay, but scared to death. i told them i had heard about toyotas having a sudden acceleration problem, but i never thought i would be involved in one. i had to walk around a while to calm down. i got the employees names and phone numbers in case i needed them. i went back outside and started the 4runner up again and it ran normal. i drove it to my dad's and left it there. i called the toyota dealer the next day and had them come pick it up. the dealer had a local technician check it out. they said they could find nothing wrong and said i should come and get it. i told them that was unacceptable. they had a regional specialized field technician evaluate it. he said that there was no safety hazard with my 4runner. the dealer wants me to come and get the vehicle. nothing has been fixed or repaired.*tr.Vehicle was involved in a crash. Toyota 4runner 2006 Service Brakes, HydraulicToyota 4runner 2006 Service Brakes, Hydraulic Review #10305871 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006 car safety problem was reported on Feb 18, 2009.TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006, manufactured by TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . abs system failure: 2006 toyota 4-runner limited. in feb. 2009, i was driving on slippery road conditions, the abs system failed, my brakes locked, and the car sped up instead of slowing. i couldn't get the car to stop. instead of hitting the line of cars in front of me i veered off the road through a snow bank. the car eventually stopped after traveling another ~100ft through 8" of snow. there were no injuries and no damage to the vehicle (car was drivable afterwards). the police did respond and a tow truck was needed to tow my car back onto the road. my original travel speed was ~ 40mph (before braking). i sped up after braking, but i am not certain of the speed when i hit the bank. toyota ran a diagnostic and received several errors. the abs was not working properly. they said the problem may have related to a low battery i had 6-12 months earlier. the low battery somehow deactivated components of the abs. i had no idea this was even possible. if i would have known that a low or dead battery could result in abs failure i would have had the system checked immediately after the low battery incident. toyota fixed the abs; however, i still continue to have occasional problems. for example, when the car is at rest, but not in park, it will sometimes lunge forward (nothing like you hear about on tv, but there is definitely some type of power surge), there is also an occasional buzzing noise from the master cylinder area when the brakes are depressed (even in park). finally, i have driven several suvs and small trucks. i have never had a vehicle that will loose traction as easily as this vehicle looses traction. something is definitely wrong. i plan to contact toyota to have them look at the abs once again. i didn't realize that i was supposed to report these issues to the nhtsa or i would have reported the problem a year ago. thanks for your time. *tr.Vehicle was involved in a crash. Toyota 4runner 2006 Vehicle Speed ControlToyota 4runner 2006 Vehicle Speed Control Review #10308337 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006 car safety problem was reported on Nov 15, 2009.TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006, manufactured by TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . random unintended acceleration on my 2006 toyota 4runner after coming to a stop. this has happened since it was new and since it didn't occur all the time i thought it was just a breaking in problem and would go away. this is not a floor mat or sticky gas pedal problem - the car brakes okay and my foot is off the gas pedal and on the brake pedal when it happens. the engine goes to a normal stop idle and then surges to a higher rpm on its own. normal engine rpm at stop is about 550, but during a surge it jumps to 1300 rpm and doesn't go back to the 550 rpm until after i leave the stop condition or turn the car off and i restart it. i've learned to be cautious and always prepared to press harder on the brake pedal if it happens. i've just recently reported this to toyota on their website after learning of all the other unintended engine accelerations. this seems to be an engine computer control problem, not floor mats or sticky accelerators, and seems to be what other people are experiencing. i'm concerned because the 4runners have not been mentioned in the recalls, and neither has this problem been recalled as it is related to the engine computer. the last time this happened, nov. 2009, i was pulling into my garage with the engine at idle (550 rpm) and it suddenly surged and i had to stomp on the brake harder to keep from running into my lawn mower/back garage wall. my foot was over the brake pedal and i was coasting into the garage at the time. *tr.Mileage was 200 miles. Toyota 4runner 2006 Electrical System Review #10655040 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006 car safety problem was reported on Aug 27, 2014.TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006, manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . toyota case #1409022048 this is part of a message sent totoyota. my daughter experienced a burning smell inside her car on her way home from work. within 15 minutes of noting the smell, her rear window exploded forcing her to pull over and call us for assistance. when we arrived we started the car and did not experience any of the burning smell she noted so we drove the car directly to toyota of huntington beach for service. the service writer discovered that the rear defroster wiring had shorted out which was believed to have overheated the rear window causing the explosion. we authorized repairs accordingly and confirmed we wanted to be certain the electrical system was in good order. we subsequently were informed by the service writer that the defroster system and window had been repaired and checked out to be functional, with the system automatically turning off within 15 minutes; however, it was left to our option to leave the system disconnected. on questioning why, the writer advised that he, nor the service manager and the head mechanic had any experience with this sort of malfunction though it was their recommendation to leave it disconnected. we agreed in the interest of safety. we have since discovered on various web based blogs that other customers have experienced precisely the same problem. links were submitted to toyota. as discussed with your corporate representative, the cost of the repairs were an unwelcome surprise, however, the overwhelming concern is wondering if we have placed our daughter in a car, that may have inherent design problems rendering it unsafe for her travels to work, school, and vacations. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 109404 miles. Toyota 4runner 2006 Electrical System Review #10672437 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006 car safety problem was reported on Jan 13, 2015.TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2006, manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . yesterday i took my 3yr old to pre-school, i did leave my car running as i usually do when i drop him off, my heater was going as well as my defrost as it was a cold morning. when i came out approxametly 7-8 minutes later i see that my back window is completely shattered. i am completely surprised and a little freaked out since my child was just sitting in the back seat where i also found glass. as i am cleaning up the glass on the ground in front of my child's pre-school i smelt something burning in the rear window in the inside. turns out my electrical unit that powers my defrosting heater in the rear window was totally burned up. the glass repair shop that replaced my window so i could at least drive my car said this could have been extremely worst as there looked to be a small fire in the back paneling within those wires (the connectors were fried). i just bought my car in march, less than a year ago, so this is extremely irritating and scary. i plan on taking it to toyota so they can review the electrical problem, but i have already been told by my extended warranty people that this may not be a covered problem under my warranty. why should have to pay for something i had no control over?? what if i was driving and this happen, my 3yr old and myself could have been seriously hurt and or someone driving behind us. this could have potentially been a very serious car accident. i hope that toyota will investigate this problem for possible re-call as i have seen several other complaints on here of the exact same issue happening. .Vehicle was on fire. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 103000 miles. got a 99 solara with abs light on trac off light on any clues to what could be problem,seems like a common problem '88 toyota camry i want to know if my car has the proper hooks required by law for a baby car seat? I passanger frount seatbelt tightens up during brakeing and then does not loosen up ? passanger is then held to seat and must remove seatbelt to gain freedom . help - my 1999 toyota corolla power windows stop working. i don't want to spend alot of money on this car. any ideas where tostart 2009 ac drain clogged filled car with 1 inch of water. My 2008 Scion has approximately 31000 miles. I started car up and had no Radio. The clock and courtesy dome lights did not work .
