Subaru Forester 2005 Vehicle Speed Control Review #10119786 SUBARU FORESTER 2005 car safety problem was reported on Mar 11, 2005.SUBARU FORESTER 2005, manufactured by SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . my 2005 subaru forester suddenly accelerated as i approached a stoplight. the car was in neutral, the clutch was not engaged and my foot was on the brake. the acceleration subsided after i placed the car in first gear and slightly pressed on the gas pedal moving the car forward about a foot. this sudden acceleration occurred over a dozen times in the course of 24hrs. the car was taken to the local subaru dealer where several test runs were performed as well as a monitor test. no codes showed up so i took the car for a test run with one of the service advisors and the car accelerated several times within 10-15min. i took the car for a second test run with a mechanic who believed the throttle was improperly opening. the mechanic then inspected and cleaned the pin connectors at tps and map sensors. he then road tested it several times to determine if the problem had been resolved and found no more sudden acceleration problems. it was determined that the problem most likely was a sticky throttle.the car now runs well..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 85 miles. Subaru Forester 2005 Vehicle Speed Control Cruise ControlSubaru Forester 2005 Vehicle Speed Control Cruise Control Review #10159214 SUBARU FORESTER 2005 car safety problem was reported on June 07, 2006.SUBARU FORESTER 2005, manufactured by SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL . on several occasions while using the cruise control the vehicle deceleration lever, which subaru labels "coast" was depressed. the vehicle slowed to the desired rate of travel and the lever was released. the cruise control system was supposed to maintain the same speed as when released, but the vehicle accelerated apparently back to the previous set point. i contacted subaru of america by e-mail and they stated that i should take the vehicle into my local subaru dealer. the dealer found nothing wrong with the system after performing their electronic tests. i asked them to contact subaru of america to see if they had released any bulletins regarding this problem and the person contacted at subaru (jody) stated to kent melchior of ed reily subaru in concord, nh that they had never heard of the problem according to his report to me on 6/7/2006. as you can see from the nhtsa complaint website, there have been several complaints against subaru for this type of an intermittent cruise control system failure. therefore, subaru of america is either incompetent or lying. *nm.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 500 miles. Subaru Forester 2005 Engine And Engine Cooling EngineSubaru Forester 2005 Engine And Engine Cooling Engine Review #10260237 SUBARU FORESTER 2005 car safety problem was reported on June 01, 2005.SUBARU FORESTER 2005, manufactured by SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE . my 2005 subaru forester, has been serviced regularly at dwyer and sons subaru dealership in commerce, michigan. during all scheduled maintenance, i've always discussed with their service department that i have a potential problem with the engine. the engine would downshift very hard or seemed like something was "banging." or running very rough. the rpm would also seem to run lower than normal. every time i made them aware of the problem, while the vehicle was under warranty, the dealership was never able to diagnose the problem. so, every time i brought the car in thereafter, i told them to make note of the issue and that it hasn't gone away. again, they would road test the car and always state that they found nothing wrong. now, the vehicle is just out of warranty and the dealership stated they found the problem. this problem would require an entire engine rebuild on a engine that is meticulously taken care of and only has 75,000 miles on it. this repair they were just able to diagnose is going to cost $5,900. they indicated the dealership would only pay $1,500 toward the repair. i told them i am not responsible for this, especially since they've acknowledged the problem existed before and i made them aware multiple times. this engine problem had pre-existed right from the factory, and their are potentially other subaru foresters with the same problem. i should not be held financially responsible for this engine repair and feel subaru should be held accountable for allowing this vehicle to be sold and be responsible for the repair or, a new engine all together. *tr.Mileage was 20000 miles. Subaru Forester 2005 Fuel/propulsion SystemSubaru Forester 2005 Fuel/propulsion System Review #10561868 SUBARU FORESTER 2005 car safety problem was reported on Jan 24, 2014.SUBARU FORESTER 2005, manufactured by Subaru of America, Inc. had a problem with FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM . on january 24th, 2014 at approximately 10:00am, my wife and i got inside my subaru forester. i started the vehicle and turned on the heater, when we both smell a strong smell of gasoline. we immediately decided to take car to the dealer, since the fumes where so overwhelming we drove with the windows open. lucky for us the dealer is a 15 minutes ride, but with the windows down and no heat to minimize the situation and the weather below 20 degrees is kind of hard. we finally made it to the dealer. the service technician told us that when the weather is below 30 degrees the fuel lines shrink, causing fuel to leak. i was taken back to know this kind of hazard was not recall by the manufacturer and that other folks are having the same problem on their subaru forester. i further learned the repairs were estimated at over $1,300.00, because they needed to replace all the fuel lines in order to stop the leak. it seems this is issue happen to vehicles from 2000-2003 based on recall (subaru recall no. wvk-21it). i believe this is a serious safety issue that has the potential to be fatal. the vehicle in this condition is a fire hazard and due to the strong fumes that can overwhelm a person to lose conscience while driving. the bottom line is that the car is not drivable under this condition. i believed that the cost of repairs should be a burden of the manufacturer and not of the owner per the resolution of the mentioned earlier by subaru's recall. as is indicative of the same problem. it will seem to me that this is a situation worthy of an investigation from dot, or is it going to wait until there is a fatality, and we go back to saying "i told you so". *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 49500 miles. I test drove a 2011 Subaru Outback yesterday at night in a very dark area with the headlights on. I could only see out of the bottom third of the windshield. The top two thirds of the windshield looked as if a black curtain had dropped down over i I notice if I quickly accelerate/go into overdrive - front of car will hum. Do I need to have something checked out? 2004 forester xt, strong gas smell in the cold weather when the heat is on. They won't fix it because they "can't find it" at my dealership. I HAVE A SUBARU FORESTER 2000 TAIL LIGHT/PLATE LIGHT/'FRONT SIGNAL LIGHT STAYS ON.ONCE FUSE IS REMOVED LIGHT GOES OUT.WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE? I own a 2008 Subaru impreza, till last week i was fine, but now it is having some problem i.e it is making whining sound from  steering pump, will i have to replace the steering pump and hoe much will it cost. Standard on all Impreza models are anti lock disc brakes, stability control, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints to help mitigate crash-induced whiplash 2006 Subaru outback died. Will not tke a boost. With battery cable connected there is an error code in the odometer. Does anybody know what this can be? 2007 Forester bangs into gear-been doing this mainly in cold weather but now all the time. Dealer always says not problem-it has to "warm up" and doesnt want ot deal with it. My 2002 Impreza Outback Sport's check engine light comes on when I'm going downhill, not all the time. Also (not all the time), if I don't downshift when coming to a stop, the car dies, not stalls, dies. It starts right back up. The engine l i just wrecked my 04 wrx front impact and no air bag and seat belt locked after the impact...how do i contact some one to have this investigated?
