Recalls for P20 CHEVROLET, GENERAL MOTORS CORP., SEATS, Aug 25, 1986

A recall was issued on Aug 25, 1986 for P20 CHEVROLET, manufactured by GENERAL MOTORS CORP., in response to SEATS problems. THREE BOLTS WHICH ATTACH THE SILL THAT SUPPORTS THE BASE OF THE SEAT WERE OMITTED; THEREFORE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS 210 AND FMVSS 207. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE FLOOR PLATE COULD BUCKLE ALONG THE INBOARD SIDE CAUSING THE SEAT PEDESTAL TO BE IMBALANCED, AND INCREASING THE LIKELIHOOD OF INJURY TO THE SEAT OCCUPANT.. Follwoing is the summary of corrective actions taken: INSTALL MISSING BOLTS.
SYSTEM: SEAT ATTACHING BOLTS/FMVSS 207 AND 210. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH UNION CITY KING STEELBODIES AND DRIVER/PASSENGER BUCKET SEATS WITH A TILT PEDESTAL.
